Hey man love the video.. I got half way on my own wish I saw this before had lol... question: do you know if taking off the dash like in this video, is how I can replace the blower assembly i couldn't figure how to take that off
You mean for the heater/ac? For that you don't need to do all this. The fan blower is located under the glove box, there's a panel you remove to get access to the bolts that hold it in. I did mine a few months ago, took like 20 min. There's a video here on yt.
Great video. I am a mechanic. I’ve never done this job before. How long would you guess it would take to do this job the first time? I’m guessing 6 hours? I need to provide a quote. 6-8 hours? FYI I am trying to disable the lights on the cluster regarding abs etc... Not my idea, theirs. They pay, I’ll do it. Thanks in advance.
Yes, but when you're done doing this you also need to follow the instructions in czcams.com/video/0w5n-05MaUs/video.html (skip 0:33 to 0:59) and desolder the large black circular component from the circuit board.
@@carsintherapy866 Thanks for the video man, my combo meter left side (the one with Trip, Consumption, throttle gauge) has gone black. Right side is working fine, with fuel gauge, selected gear, etc. Do I need to take the whole dash off like you did to fix it?
@@shaazy The same thing has happened to my 2010 .I will be replacing the entire cluster.I ordered it.off Ebay got it pretty cheap from a salvage Prius.
@@lamirranee6997 ahh. It's so annoying, Mine's a 2012 and the Trip/odometer/Hybrid System Indicator/ side flickered for a couple of days and then went black 4 days ago. Then turned back on 1 day later. Then turned off 2 days later and it's been 2 days that its been black. eBay clusters will have to be programmed at Toyota for odometer reading to match right? How much did you get yours for? Can only the odometer side of the cluster be replaced?
@@shaazy I had to hustle on Ebay and got it fr $65.I installed it but i still have to change the mileage. I am gonna do it eith an obd2 reader you don't really need Toyota to do it fr you cause im not paying fr shit! They need a recall ASAP anyways on the gauge cluster! On the prius forum soooo many people are having the SAME issue.YES!THIS IS ANNOYING. And you could actually try to refurbish the screen itself.I would just replace the whole thing cause then at least if it happens again you will have all the parts
Just remember to unplug the battery before unplugging the airbag wires

@@Ass_Burgers_Syndrome The video for removing the blower assembly is published on YT by a user saneauto who has a whole playlist of Prius repairs

Did you unplugged the 12 V battery befor unassemble the dash?
MARCELLO6859 yes. I don't think you absolutely have to but since there's a lot of wires and airbag clips you might as well
Cars in Therapy you have to unplug it from the battery for u can do damage to the wiring or get an airbag explosion
@@Rx330lexuslover his dashlights were blinking (door open) so he didn't disconnect his battery. surprised he didn't set off an airbag
stupid complicated design!
shame Toyota!
Great video, thank you!
