@@jamespollard1670 i think thats what the red devil stuff is what i have is pretty old that may have had some effect on its performance but cant be certain

Lately I've been using Varathane . It is both stain and polyurethane mixed .

I most always use Tru oil but it doesn't add a lot of color. so I don't know which would be best for your stock.
