China Escalates Yuan Intervention

  • Chinese authorities told state-owned banks to escalate intervention on the currency market this week in a push to prevent a surge in yuan volatility, according to people familiar with the matter. The onshore yuan has been falling toward its lowest levels since 2007 amid weak sentiment. Stephen Engle reports on Bloomberg Television.

      @@HKim0072 Yes but usually, rate cuts have been seen to increase the supply of the domestic currency in forex markets and drive the price of the Yuan down further. If anything rate cuts would depress the exchange rate - the current intervention seems like an artificial measure induced by an uninformed decision.

    It is a two prong strategy dump dollars to keep Yuan stable, and add more liquidity to the U.S market at the time when the U.S is raising rates to try to control liquidity. Timing is everything and the Chinese are playing it VERY smar as usual.

      Im not convinced there is one American economy anymore. It seems like several different sectors each distorted in their own unique way. Sure its a house of cards... But isnt it always?

      LOL! Who cares? China's entire economy is collapsing. Nothing will save their currency. Everyone is selling that trash Yuan. Nobody wants it because it's worthless outside of China. China have been trying to get more people to use it for 20 years and got nowhere. The Canadian dollar is used more than the Yuan internationally😁 Even Xi's best buddy putin refuses to hold that worthless currency and dumped a bunch of it😂
