    Michelle, I have struggled with depression and anxiety as well as multiple other mental illnesses since before age 12. I am turning 24 very soon and I have found a few things that help me that may help you:
    -try listening to meditation to help you sleep (I like Meditation Vacation and Michelle's Sanctuary on CZcams... I just have a playlist I play at night on a loop)
    -try ASMR, it may seem "odd" at first but I suggest to just go into it with an open mind. I like Gibi and Gwen Gwiz ASMR channels, but there are many options.
    -I sleep with my box fan on every night for noise and coolness.
    -I also sleep with a sleep mask because I am sensitive to light when I sleep. I speck of light and I am wide awake.
    -Practice breathing throughout your day and while laying in bed. Breathe in and out slowly and just say breathe to yourself. I say mantras, too. I just make up my own depending on what I need. One i always tell myself that i made up long ago is "stop obsessing and start progressing". I struggle with eating disorders, perfectionism, and hating myself with a burning passion because i am never good enough so that is why i tell myself this quote. i know you mentioned you struggle with perfectionism, so it might help you, too. but you can always just make up your own.

      I love ASMR! It helps me get to sleep almost every time. ASMR Glow is another good youtuber. Btw these tips are so thoughtful and helpful!

    Hi Michelle! I used to have horrible anxiety my first year and a half of college. What helped me was switching my major to tone down my schedule! I freed up a bunch of my time so now I can be productive (school full time & part time internship), worship the Lord (attend bible study and church regularly), and spend time with friends and family consistently! In between all of this I enjoy blank blocks of time that I LEAVE blank. I leave these blanks for life to hit like a semi truck 😂 maybe a friend really needs my support, maybe I really want to bake, maybe I really need a date night - whatever it may be, I leave room for life to hit. As you know, Jesus does not promise a perfect, stress free life, but a life full of trials that will shape us and mold us in preparation for the kingdom. SO! I make room for all of those challenges or opportunities so Jesus can work through me ☺️

    I have been getting in the habit that when i come home from class at 2pm (my classes at university are from 8-2 usually) I will watch a random movie for an hour in a half in bed to just bring my stress level down...otherwise if i give myself less than that I stress during my break. It helps me focus and brings up my energy a lot more! -btw I am in my 3rd year of biology at UBC

    1. Meditating
    2. Watch youtube or favorite show
    3. Listen to soft or classical music
    4. Cuddle my dogs

    you could be deficient in magnesium. the "relaxation" mineral. I drink Calm magnesium powder. helps with muscle or cramp soreness, insomnia and lack of sleep, anxiety and relaxing in general. try it! it's on Amazon

    i’m sorry that you feel so stressed, michelle :( i live a few miles outside of nyc and i only go once or twice a month for work and i just feel absolutely exhausted afterwards. i give you so much credit for living and going to school

    Watched your newest blog the other day... to say I related is an understatement. I began struggling with anxiety my senior year of high school & there was a period of time where I was experiencing what you were. Not necessarily in the sleep aspect, but with other things. For several weeks I’d go to school at the start of my open period... which was normal because I used the time to work on my school work in the library. What wasn’t normal was that I’d get so anxious I’d go to the bathroom, vomit once & then feel fine. I began dealing with sleep issues due to my anxiety second semester of my freshman year of college, which was two years ago. I still don’t sleep super great, but have a few tips to offer that helped me & maybe they’ll help you. A sleeping mask, essential oil diffuser and spray to put on your pillow before you sleep, Melatonin or Unisom, tea before bed, blackout curtains, journaling before bed in a brain dump sort of way (writing down everything that’s making you anxious), getting off all electronics for at least an hour prior to going to bed, & listening to music meant to help you fall asleep. I’ve tried all of the above at different times or still do some of these things. They’ve helped me. Hoping things begin looking up for you. 💓

    for sleeping, it depends on what type of anxiety i've got-- overstim or understim. for overstim i like turning off all my lights except for one really low lamp, light a candle, get my hair off my skin--- itchy!! tidy a bit, and brush my hair. also have to take off all clothes that are the slightest bit uncomfy. cannot have it. when i'm feeling too twitchy and restless to sleep, i'll watch a boring TV show ep-- something light and fluffy-- i'm using the Love Live anime right now-- and ask a friend to voicecall with me til i've reached my hangout limit.

    You’ve probably already heard this, but have you tried melatonin for sleeping? I’m a freshman in college right now and was dealing with the same anxiety/ sleeping problems you’ve described! Melatonin has helped me personally so much!! Also listening to white noise/ ocean sounds helps me fall asleep :) I hope you find some relief to this!! I know how hard it can be! xoxo

      Melatonin is good for resetting your circadian rhythm. But, Michelle, if you want to go to sleep or stay asleep, try over-the-counter Benadryl (Diphenhydramine). Or, by prescription, Ambien is habit-forming (aka ur body starts to depend on it) but it works for helping you fall asleep. To stay asleep, I use Mirtazepine (non-habit-forming).

    I always love your videos, Michelle! :) I have a very similar night routine. I usually come home and unwind with music or Netflix or CZcams and then make dinner for myself and do work. I always love to read my Bible before bed too.

    I'm sorry you've been struggling so much with anxiety lately! I've been through and am still working through that, just keep going❤ also when you put your apron on it made it look like you had short hair and I think it looked so good!! Next time you find you need a change in your life maybe try cutting your hair a bit more!😊💕 Your videos always make me smile, love you!

    I really hope you could fall asleep that night! I know its kinda weird but have you tried watching ASMR videos to try falling asleep? For some people it helps for some not.. But I really hope it helps you..

    Do you guys have an oil diffuser?? I have had SO many problems sleeping and with anxiety but recently I bought an oil diffuser (an inexpensive one from Target) and some lavender essential oil and I swear it has REALLY helped me sleep more soundly. I put it on in the room I’m in for about an hour before I want to sleep and by the time I am ready to go to bed I am actually sleepy! I’ll leave it on during the night too because it has an automatic timer to turn off. Maybe give that a try? Love your content and your genuine personality!! Best of luck to you! Xoxo
