  • Thanks very much to Sir Oze @YFKnight ( / @yf_oze ), the recorder of the original fight footage, originally available here: • Sir Wulfgar v Sir Oze ...
This SCA practice combat is from Lochac in 2018 between Sir Wulfgar Jarnsiða and Sir Guillaume d'Oze.
This is a detailed video analysis of competitive medieval recreation combat without choreography. This uses the mobile app "Coach's Eye" to break down shot mechanics, movement, balance, power generation, etc. and provide commentary.
Combat is full-speed, full power with rattan (wooden) weapons. Hands, wrists and legs from the knee-down are not valid targets, and grappling is limited. For more details on combat rules see www.sca.org

Thank you for analysing our fights. We live in a small isolated barony in Lochac (Australia), it can be hard to tell when we're doing things that are actually good or if they just work on one another. Sir Oze was my knight until I was elevated and is my main training partner. Wulfgar

Great commentary Avery - and I love seeing Lochac fighters on your list! Every time I watch one or your videos I understand something new about fighting and techniques.

I hope that, once covid is over and events start happening again, these will return with more analysis. I've been watching them and learning a lot, plus the commentary is amusing

That's nice of you! I've lost my tablet, so I'll need to buy another, but I hope to.

I tend to use that hanging block so much as Sir Oze's sword is about 3 inches longer than mine. Due to the way he fights I will always have to move through his measure before I can attack. Oze also has the fast on side snap dialled in, if I'm not on my game, so I often approach in full defence.
