Love it . I’m transitioning to white-water . Fell in love with this boat - especially the yellow !
Which is tough to find since it’s a 2020 model (yellow). Found one at an outfitter today , which was part of his training fleet - virgin , unused boat . It’s mine now !!

Best boat I own. Easy to get new paddlers into the sport and get them into real class 3 with in a short while. Best part is that the entire cockpit is easy to adjust on the river without tools

Thoughts on this at 5'9" and 205-210lbs?, seems like I could go with either Med or Lrg. Thoughts?

Quick question for someone with more experience than me with Jackson Kayaks. I have been paddling a Zen 2 for two years now, and paddle fairly regularly (at least twice a month). I like my Zen 2 but now my backband doesn't seem to be locking. I have to try several times before it will finally lock. This never was a problem in the beginning. Does this mean I need to replace the cleats or the rope or am I doing something different and just do not realize it?
Also, I would like to buy a Nirvana, but the $ is definitely an issue. It is not easy for me as a teacher and student working on my master's and paying out of pocket to put up $1400 for a new boat this year. Though, I would like too.
What would you all recommend for an intermediate boater who has run the New River Gorge and the Ocoee with success before, a Zen 3 or Nirvana?

1stVARifleman my process for locking my back and is to lean forward and pull just past where I want it to be and then lean back with the ropes cleated to really lock it down. I’ve paddled boats for years going 15+ times a month and haven’t had an issue. You can also throw a knot in the rope to make sure it won’t unseat.
I can’t speak to the new zen 3 but I absolutely love my nirvana for class 4+ and 5. I think getting a new boat depends on what you’re looking for. If you doing the same runs quite a bit then I think you should look at more playful boats to help accelerate your learning. It will make runs more difficult and you’ll learn flaws in your habits as opposed to a bigger boat that will take care of you more.

you probably just need new ropes. You eventually create wear spots that'll slip. Any ropes of the same diameter should work, or you can buy more of the same from JK. Other option is to run a bit more rope through the anchor points and tie a new not there. That'll get a different spot on the ropes into the cleats and it'll likely work fine again.
