The Industrialist follows the 2010 release of Mechanize. Widely regarded, the album was the first release from Fear Factory in six years. Mechanize debuted on Billboard's Top 100 album chart week of release and topped CMJ's Loud Rock radio chart as programmers embraced the band's triumphant return. Sirius XM and Headbangers Ball's host Jose Mangin noted, "after Mechanize dominated 2010 as Liquid Metal's Album Of The Year, North America is chompin' at the bit to get an ear full of new Fear Factory. For what it's worth: my band opened for these guys Sunday 4/28 and Dino was one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Took the time to take pictures with people, sign autographs, even went to the bar and had a drink with everyone. Regardless of what he may say online, in person he is a great dude. FF has never been my favorite band, but they earned solid respect in my book. Further more; they put on one hell of a show.
This would be a perfect time for a new FF record. Have always been ahead of the times in both music and lyrical theme.

I've always loved the big intros that build up to the dynamite, but Fear Factory doing this in this song, is just AWESOME!!!!!
They're one of the few bands that nail this kind of intros. Wish we had more like these.
I've listening to fear factory since my step dad got with my mom back in 2003. I've heard every single one of their songs, I've listened all their albums. I wish they'd go back to how they were in Obsolete. That raw thrasher industrial metal kick.

Man Fear Factory is finally on tour and nowhere near where I live. Haven't ever been to a concert (no concerts of any band) but I really wanna see them
I only found out fairly recently my favorite 3 type-o-negative albums all had 'non-real' drums on them, I'm a musician, but it doesn't stop me loving the music one bit.
This is the same. I think this is there best album to date. It doesn't matter how it was made. its MUSIC, not a technical how-to.
I own a recording studio and trust me, if you've never been in a studio you'll realize how much drum correction goes on anyway, and 80% of the the sound of kit on fear factory records and most modern metal is NOT the drums, it the triggered samples. That's why this record sounds hardly any different.
Plus they CAN do it live so whats the beef.
If you want them to be able to afford a 'real' drummer on the next album then buy their albums instead of downloading them.

And on top of that, FF's current drummer, Mike Heller, is more than capable of pulling off the drums, seeing as he has to when they play live, and it's definitely sounds just as insane. I'm fairly certain that they chose to use a drumming machine in the recording for a "cleaner sound".
It is a shame how they just dropped Hoglan out of the blue like that, he's an excellent drummer and I'll certainly miss the raw power and speed from his drumming. Won't complain about Mike Heller's drumming, though, he's just as amazing.

yeah totally. I mean Fear Factories 'brand' was always the dark vision of the future where man and machine co-exist. That's exactly the point of them. you could argue this the most to-the-point fear factory record to date if you really wanted to! but I just love the tracks.

Fear Factory changed the way I listen to music back in '94. I've talked to Burton extensively during a Watchers tour and i've talked to Dino in length after a show in Philly. Burt and Dino had always been the best of friends until Raymond and Christian starting their creative and writing input. It was a very slow, painful to watch, self destruction of the band. But then, amends were made, and the true core of this "machine" was reunited. I am more of a disciple now then I ever was.
And now the band's future is more uncertain than ever before. What a shame.

2020 & BEYOND!!!!
I love all their previous albums from SoTM to this one. They definitely had a huge high point during Obsolete, but as far as I'm concerned, they're still amazing.
I've followed this band a while and I've always seen arguments as to who or what members make FF what it is. When Dino was out of the band, people complained about the lack of his riffs. Once Christian and Ray were gone they said it lacked soul. But above all of that, Fear Factory is still alive today keeping true to their message and meaning behind the band. And all these great metal musicians aside, that's what FF is in my eyes.

I was turned on to Fear Factory during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Obsolete started my obsession. This is still as true today as it was back then.

IIRC, Stroud was displeased with this behavior and quit, hence why this album is only credited to Burton and Cazares.

I highly recommend everyone to check the songs "Ammunition", "My Grave" and "Empire" on youtube. Those tracks is a good proof that Chris\Ray was a BIG part of FF! They both still are FF, half of this band, even despite the fact they not in it anymore.
