- To honor the former Pope Benedict XVI. I've decided to record the National Anthem of the Vatican State. The "Inno e Marcia Pontificale" was written by Charles Gounod and also works perfectly as a festive Prelude or Postlude. This version was played on the Sampleset of the Marcussen Organ in Rotterdam.

Joseph A. Ratzinger was a great passionated for music, art and spirituality. When Pope Benedict XVI was in France, explained the importance of words but he also highlighted that music was, at the same time, a crucial part of the spiritual life and of church prayer (he was talking about monastic life as an example of a balanced mix between work and prayer).
So, I think he's grateful for this gift, especially because during his pontificate he promoted communication links with different Churches, religions and cultures.
I think that Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglicans, Lutherans and all other churches share more reasons to be united than to be divided, we share the same roots and belong to the same trunk which is The Christ, the Messiah our Lord.

A fine tribute to one of the 2 greatest intellectual Pope's of the modern age; the other was St. John 23. Both great theologians, Benedict was nicknamed "God's Rottweiler". (Two recent late Chicago Cardinals, Joseph Bernardin, and Francis George, were also very different. Cardinal George was called "Francis the Corrector" by some). From Chicago, U.S.A.

A wonderful performance which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was also good to hear a different arrangement from the one I play. Do you play 'Marcia per i Solenni Pontificali in San Pietro' by Giovanni Longhi, and also 'Armonica Religiosa' by Domenico Silveri? They were composed for brass in 1846 on the election of Pius IX. Organ transcripions by Maurizio Machella are freely available.
