    All the dates that he mentioned in the video, the way I heard them:
    1000 BC. King Salomon built the first temple
    ca.586 BC. Babylonians destroy first temple
    536 BC. Persians are „new boss in town“ ;) , permission to build new temple
    516 BC. Second temple finished
    20-19 BC. King Herod builds retaining walls and lager temple
    70 AD. Big jewish rebellion -> Romans destroy second temple
    638 AD. Dome of the rock was built
    1099 AD. Crusaders came into Jerusalem
    1187 AD. Saladin „kicks out“ Crusaders
    Hope you find this usefull =)

      When a place is sacred, even more strange things are people willing to do for the sake of it. Nevertheless, your concern is truly modern. In antiquity and even in the Middle Ages, nobody would have any problem understanding the concept. "Over a rock" would sound completely "logical" or at least, with enough sense.

    There is few small mistakes here... like this one - The Muslims first build a very important Mosque called Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa المسجد الأقصى witch means "the Farthest Mosque". This name was described in the Koran as the place where Muhammad ascended into heaven. The Dome of the Rock Was build later, to prais the holy city, and is today the main symbol of the mountain, but actually it less important than Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa.
    Also, wasn't the retaining wall built by the Muslims to build Masjid Al-Aqsa? I can't remember... does somebody knows?

    Hi Nir, I just have two wonders here:
    As per my knowledge, for Muslims the holly spot is "Al-Masjid Ul-Aqsa" not the "Dome of the Rock" so what is the exact story - I don't know - is the Dome part of Masjid Ul-Aqsa for example?
    Secondly, we have always seen crusades to take over this spot, which is unexplained according to your explanation, the spot is not that important for christians in comparison to Muslims and Jewish. Even nowadays Jewish are in control of the land after the so called British crusades at the beginning of the 20th century then handing over the land to Jewish. So we have never seen Jewish fighting for the land although it should be a holly spot for them. We have seen Christians always fighting for the land although it should not be that holly for them. And we have seen Muslims always fighting for the land although the holly spot for them is different?

    • @yuvalpi
      @yuvalpi Před 10 lety +2

      Hi AMahdy, I think you're confused regarding the area discussed here. Also your history is rather mixed up.
      The Al-Aqsa mosque is about 100 meters away from the dome of the rock. The whole mountain is about 250x250 meters. The holy spot for the Christians is 300 meters away from the mountain. The land everybody was fighting over the past millennia is more than 10,000 square kilometers... so your questions are a bit out of context.
      Now, dates. Crusades: 11th century. Then Arabs (Salladin). Then Turks until 1917. Then British (NOT crusaders, just British) until 1948. Then Jordan until 1967. Then Israel until today, EXCEPT on the mountain itself, where Jews are denied religious freedom. Seriously. Wearing a Jewish skullcap on Temple Mount is prohibited. Trying to pray will get you arrested by a Jordanian official (Waqf).
      Hope this made things a little clearer.

    • @amahdy
      @amahdy Před 10 lety

      Thanks Yuval Pinter for your input.
      Actually I was trying to get things clearer based on what Nir mentioned in the video. All the time he is talking about a holly spot, holly stone. You are talking here about a 10K KMsq land. So we either talk here about the whole land, Jewish, Christians, and Muslims are trying to take control of it since ever, (is it holly for all of them?), and will make much more sense. Or we should talk about the stone on top of the mountain which appears to be holly only to Jewish (Christian's stone is 300 meters away, and Muslim's Masjid (Mosque) is 100 meters away).
      British war was not an official crusade, but soldiers were motivated that way, they were told they are the new era crusades and they are fighting for the christians:
      *David Lloyd George described the capture as "a Christmas present for the British people." Allenby remarked, "The wars of the crusaders are now complete".* en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Jerusalem_(1917)
      Israel is controlling the land today, but Jewish are prevented form praying over there? I'm confused, the mountain is inside Israel or outside of it? Kindly clarify this part for me. And thanks again.

    • @luisvivanco6897
      @luisvivanco6897 Před 10 lety

      AMahdy AbdElAziz The especially sacred place for Muslims is the roch over which was built the Dome of the Rock (Haram esh-Sherif). And the reason is that the tradition says this was the place were the mule Al Buraq, which carried the Prophet (S.A.A.S.), gave a kick in a place which is still shown to the visitors, in which there is a small hole like that a mule could do if the rock was soft. From there, Al Buraq went to heaven. It is a tradition which many believe, and others don't, but that is why that curious and beautiful structure, the "Dome of Omar", is built not over a decorated and beatiful floor, like other mosques, tombs and places of beauty and worship, but is built over crude & raw & irregular rock. They maintained it like that over centuries, out of veneration.

    Bible books Isaiah 3:8 - For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
    Jeremiah 4:14 - O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
    Jer 8:5
    Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.
    Jer 9:11
    And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.
    Jer 13:27
    I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields.
    Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?
    Jer 19:3
    And say, Hear ye the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem;
    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, the which whosoever heareth, his ears shall tingle.
    Jer 23:14
    I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery,
    and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness:
    they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
    Jer 44:9
    Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah,
    and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives,
    which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?
    Lam 1:8
    Jerusalem hath grievously sinned; therefore she is removed: all that honoured her despise her,
    because they have seen her nakedness: yea, she sigheth, and turneth backward.
    Ezekiel 16:2
    Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations,
    Malachi 2:11 - Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
    Rev 11:8 - And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
    Jesus, my LORD, was crucified in Jerusalem, which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt.
    Jesus speaks in Matthew 23:37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

      I can't speak to the world creation part, but the first visit to Mount Moriah predates the slavery in Egypt. Genesis 22:2 is where God instructs Abraham to take Issac to that mountain to sacrifice him (spoiler: God provides a ram when they get there). Issac later begat Jacob who was later called Israel, father of the 12 tribes. It is Joseph, son of Israel, that is the first to be relocated to Egypt later in Genesis.
      Given that the fathers of the nation Israel had a holy connection with that place, the rest of it kind of makes sense. And there may be additional proof of which I am unaware.

Jesus was not crucified at the Temple, but away from... Not saying you are wrong when you say that the Temple was built where Abraham took Isaac to be sacrificed, but saying, Maybe not.

      Lugh314 i'll grant that to a point, but every time people cave in to demands of violent backwards cultures, we give them more power to bully us in the future. We need to police the behavior of other humans, particularly religions, better than this. Bears are another matter, one does not expect a bear to behave in a civil manner. If you can insert the noun for a member of a particular religion into that sentence where "bear" is, then we obviously have a problem that needs addressing.
