    This is just what I needed to hear. Got myself a cheap 07 plate transit a few months ago with the manual lock on the driver's door knackered so only entry into the cab via the central locking on the blue key. Was working fine up until last week when it took a few minutes of constant pressing of the unlock button, got a battery to replace it to find it impossible to open the case so went to good old CZcams and came across this video. £8 wireless charger from Amazon and 2 hours charge later I was able to unlock from down the street. Thanks Mel, top man, top video.

    That's brilliant! We had a similar problem and quote from Ford but at least we could open the van via the driver's lock. We knew our auxiliary battery was shot but great news when we replaced both aux and starter battery the key fob was charged up again and has worked ever since! Happy days! 😁👍
    Apparently, if your batteries are old, ours were probably original so 5 years, they stop charging the fob.

      and i also have trouble with my van, got a ford transit custom van mark 7
      was trying to see why my central lock gone wrong so quick without notice,
      at the end i could open the door for one day
      i was search for every answer , check on youtube saw this man here talking about induction charger is a solution
      but apparently i don`t have anything with induction charger ,
      but then i was thinking to get my key as i left it in my toolbox in the shade,
      thinking to get it as o got an idea
      loads of magnet in my tool box.
      so went there to pick up the phone , soon i try to open the key to check if i could clean or do smth with the battery , i just heard a click ,
      guess what ?
      it was the key working coz the magnetfield i guess can resolve the problem. so guys try this and let me know don`t have any website , but leave a msg here perhaps thought i share that with you all big relief for me save 300 pound joke. or get me at giogiomusic must be raining on youtube . thanks .

    It's worth looking into lock security for Ford Transit locks.
    You can buy these outer stainless steel Very nicely made discs, to prevent the easy entry of a screwdriver and opening the door.
    Another tool used for entry is a Tibbe key. Sold from our friends from China for around £8 and demonstrated on CZcams how to use. ( Very handy for criminals ).
    When all lined up, all the numbers on the Tibbe key are in fact the code needed to get a new key cut.

    Thanks for this. Looking at the fob's pcb, there seems to be an inductive pickup coil located such that it's behind a little 'bobble' in the plastic at the front of the blue part of the key, pointing forwards, parralel with the way the key blade points. I'm guessing this raised bump on the front of the removed blue fob part, probably wants to be held straight in line with, and as close as possible to, the toothbrush charger's own 'bobble' to get the maximum induction going..

      I gave it a good try.. In the end though it turned out the battery in my fob was past it's useful life and wouldn't have charged no matter what. I bought a new shell and battery on ebay www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Transit-MK7-Blue-Key-Fob-Case-Remote-Battery-VL2330-Switches-Repair-Kit-DC/283505960609?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 With the new battery soldered in, everything was immediately hunky dory straight off - but maybe I was lucky the battery came pre-charged. The toothbrush method might still be really useful if someone solders in a replacement battery that doesn't come fully charged!

    Tried this with two different electric toothbrush chargers and with two different keys. It didn't work, even after dismantling them and trying them in different positions, using a multi meter to check the voltage regularly. In the end, I used a bench power supply to charge them at 4.2V (as required for Lithium ion), which seems to have worked. Both batteries now reading 3.7V, as expected for lithium ion.

    I have been researching these things since I laundered mine.
    With key in lock, you can open or lock the front (one operation of the key) or front and back (two operations). No battery required.
    The battery is required to operate remote locking/unlocking. Key operation as above is a workaround.
    The transducer is a separate solid state device, does not require battery.
    After laundering, water leaked out. After much flicking, I verified water was still inside by pressing buttons and observed water came out. I repeated this until water no longer came out. I think put it in my slow cooker, on "keep it warm" for some hours.
    After this, remote locking still does not work. However, the transducer does, and I can start the engine once again. Running the engine for 20 minutes did not recharge the battery, it's had a second session in the slow cooker since then. I'll go for a drive later, and see what happens. I expect to have to buy another key, I should regardless because I only only have the one.

    • @oneeyedphotographer
      @oneeyedphotographer Před 2 lety

      That didn't work and so I bought a replacement complete key assembly. Now, the new one doesn't work.... Do I have an induction charger?

I think Any Blue Key Transit Mk7 or even a (Blue Key) Transit Connect will do the same thing,

    Hi Mel,
    I am in a similar situation, in that I cannot use my key to unlock my campervan. I purchased an induction toothbrush charger and ‘charged’ it overnight. It didn’t work when I tried to unlock the van. Do you know of another way to gain access into my 2008 van? It is fitted with 2 batteries under the drivers seat, so using a battery charger under the bonnet will not work.
    I look forward to your comments.
    Many thanks.

    • @BigVanSmallWorld
      @BigVanSmallWorld  Před 3 lety

      Hi if your engine battery’s have gone flat you can still charge them if you can get under the bonnet there is a live pole under a cover with a + on top it’s usually used to put jump leads on put your booster or charger pos on this and neg to the engine anywhere and you’re be golden 👍
