Yes some of the video clips were recorded a few years ago. Was fun to go back through the older videos to edit them and see how things change

Soooo. I cracked my trans oil pan so I’m installing a new one. All the fluid basically leaked out. Should I fill it to spec . 5.3? Or 5.5L and then warmer her up and check level?

I did my dsg service just over a year ago doing the "correct" method.
My transmission fluid came up to temp while it was still on the jack stands just idling. So a drive may not be required.
I gravity filled through the bottom with a funnel and my word that fluid takes forever to fill haha. I need to invest in a pump like what you have

Yeah if it’s warm out it doesn’t take long to get to temp.
Yes painfully slow, I try to remember to heat the fluid before starting, the pump works well but it’s a work out. I have since bought a cheap amazon pump for work and seems to work well with gear oil so I might buy another dedicated for dsg changes.

I changed my DSG fluid and used Valvoline DCT fluid with VW G 052 182 recommendation. I have only 1 forward gear and no reverse when the system is first started up and after about 3 miles in this 1st (or 2nd gear) I shut it off and turn it back on and I have all the gears shifting. I had a mechanic who works on a lot of German cars tell me to get the Valvoline flushed out and put in one of the German made fluids like Pentosin etc. I also have the P0746 code pressure control solenoid A stuck open or performance-electrical fault. My question is do you think this fluid could be a problem or do you have experience with using North American made DCT fluids? Also when I did my filling I plugged it back up when I had just drips and not intermittent slurps coming out. Is it possible that I need to add maybe 8 oz. more fluid. Is there a tolerance amount allowed for over fill and under fill ?

I’ve done my twice now. I got the car at around 60 thousand. The fluid both times looked almost new.

The cars i usually get are neglected so who knows how many miles are on them. Depending on driving conditions I usually will extend the change interval.

How solid are the DSG's in these cars?

Ive had good luck, one of the cars in this video is close to 500k km and wasn’t well maintained

Hey I just did a DMF change and a service while I was at it. I noticed very fine micro size glitter in the fluid. At 182K (Miles) the transmission runs fine, Perfect even. I can’t find any service history on the DSG. Should I be worried about the glitter? Or is that just clutch material?

Its not abnormal for a bit but assuming its missed 4 changes its probably accumulated for awhile. I'd maybe cut this interval short and see what its like as you dont get it all out during a service

you emptied 4.5 so does that mean you put back in 4.5 or do you fill it to spec 5.5?

On that one a split the difference and put in 5L, the one axle seal was seeping a little. I personally don’t think .5L higher or lower really makes a big difference.
