- We wouldn’t normally release videos so close together but as you know several titles have shadow dropped at once. Here’s Glen’s hot take review on our new series where we replicate the 2 hour refund window offered by Steam. After 2 hours of Raji what do we think and would we refund or not? Let’s find out!

Update 1: The game is quite short in length at approximately 5-6 hours.
Obviously there is no refund system on the Switch, but in this series we play the first two hours of a game to see if we would get a refund should such a system exist. Hopefully, these initial impressions will help you decide on whether to buy or not.
Would We Refund A Short Hike? : czcams.com/video/Bk9KN71GKso/video.html
Happy gaming. Glen
Oof, that's short, does it have anything to make replaying worth it?
I'll be buying it later during a bigger sale. Hard for me to justify $25 for an indie.
Refund A Short Hike!? Hell no. We need DLC YESTERDAY.
thelocoraven Good point AHGGG I want it now but... we have so many games as it is. This can’t wait I guess. Prob will go on sale but you never know!! I always round up though just cuz I’m slow so maybe a 10 hour game for me we’ll see.
Is there post story content?
I'm gonna grab this largely because I want to show support for the studio, and I want more games based around ancient Indian history/mythology. I've been clamoring for an RPG style game set in the story of Mahabharat!
trust me you're gonna get it
I have been waiting for a god of war type mahabharat game for so long...

India's first game
There were around 3 to 6 developers
None producer helped them or produced the game bec it was from India and was the first one
The head of the developer almost ran out of the resource
The head sold her house to continue the developing of this game
Full support from my side
7 developers to be exact
Indian first game was yoddha
India's first indie game
Really wished non-western centric (excluding samurai/ ninja orientalism) games like these come out of the gate gleeming with quality that can stand toe to toe with other games in the genre... Good first effort tho
@@ShacklefordR Well you know too busy trying to survive and have present, we aren't as privileged as most western countries
You had me at Dante’s Inferno! Plus I feel India and it’s mythology are underutilized in games. IMO
I love the fact it's set in India. As you say, so under used in video games. Glen
I am an Indian and the kind of mythology we have is perfect for video games have no idea why developers havent focused on making games based on indian mythology
India's theme not used too much in games is true, though hopefully you guys haven't forgotten about Assassin's Creed - India. That was the second title in the Assassin's Creed - Chronicles game, which I'm lucky to have!😎👍
Playing the Ramayana as Hanuman... Yes please
Evolution I like that
This is indias first mainstream videogame ,,, so kudos
*The devs went BANKRUPT in making this game.*
They DESERVE all our support. 💙💙💙
Yes, buy this game
@@TylerScow You know maybe people want to support the developers even if it doesn't translate in getting a second game out of them. In a "Wow I really enjoy your work, I hope my cash will save you from foreclosure" kind of way.
I guess they won't be making a sequel..
Why do they deserve money?
I must confess I didn't wait for a review, because i was sold on it during the Indie world Direct : music, ambiance, design, gameplay... It's rare I buy a game at this price (more than 20€) without reading or viewing a review... but I jumped into it ... and so far so good... but it's always nice to see I didn't made a mistake :-)
Love the indian vibes of this game, a nice change from the 1001 nights (but still, I , as many others, would like a new Prince of Persia)
The thing I like the most on the games with art style and details about ones country is when people from that said country work on it so we can get genuine info and not interpretation or fragments.
Btw...just placed the order on Amazon for AC:NH...so...I wanna see if that will charm me as it did with so much people.
Cheers lads !
Anton George Nice one mate - totally agree on the localised talent being the driving force on this one. I am not a huge AC:NH fan in all honestly - but there are people who love it! Mark
The creator sold his house for making this game
Its she not he and yes she sold her apatment for this project
@major bat yes

@@dixantvaidya1724 I read it in an article that the graphic designer named 'Shruti' sold her apartment due to shortage of funds
Yes one of the core developer named shruti sold her flat to finance this game development.
I really like this game. The core is good but it's a little rough around the edges. Overall I think visuals are stunning, the combat is excellent while platforming is competent. Could use a little more meat like more items and NPCs and intractable environments, but like I said, I think the core is solid.
A very solid debut.
They actually struggled financially and couldn't make the complete game they wanted
I haven't played but by observing a couple of let's plays, I think the worldbuilding and storytelling also struggle a bit. It doesn't feel organic even though the idea of the gods discussing the plot as it happens isn't bad, perse.
But, definitely, the art is stunning
I’m 3 hours in and it’s really gorgeous and very fun. Would recommend 👍
Super happy to see people admire and appreciate this game. Thanks for the review! Indian devs FTW!! ❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Glen
Man this didn’t catch my eye during the presentation, but watching this made it a must grab for me
I love the optimism of all these likes before release - you guys are awesome! Mark
Kinda tempted to downvote, but then I'd feel like prick.
freshFerdinand Lol there are enough of those in the world already mate! Haha! Mark
Mussell MaXiMuS This upsets me immensely lol
Cheers gunshow! Mark
@Mussell MaXiMuS But 2 thumbs down means a thumbs up, because they cancel each other out! 🤪
I dropped a quick holy s comment after seeing your title here because I just bought the game without seeing a review first. It dropped unannounced and someone said it gave them an early GOW vibe. My style of game for certain and the visuals were beautiful at a quick glance. As soon as I started playing it didnt give me the same GOW vibe. Rather an early POP vibe. Which I was just as happy with. I was having trouble with controls. Some trouble hitting the right spot
for a pole attack. That got better. The more I play the more beautiful the game looks and plays. I really dont regret the
price at all. Like my first boss said told me, If a customer complains about the price you tell 'em the product is so good it would be a bargain at twice the price. Cheers everyone.

@Akar Acharya There is nothing 'scam' about this game. Don't buy it if you don't like it but atleast don't spread hate without enough reason to do so.

@@RajShekhar-jy2zi exactly, the devs are from Pune and they are just the coolest people, they even invited me to their studio (I couldn't go for I had exams) and they have made something that should make us proud. I was wondering about this one!
Thank you for this series!
You’re welcome mate! Mark
I love the game so far. The graphics, music, voice acting and story are very engaging. My only complaint is that on the handheld mode, I can't see the legend on the screen that describes what the buttons are used for (i.e. where you select the abilities of the weapon).
I like this format for you guys being able to react a bit quicker to indi games comming out of nowhere, not having to go through the hoops of minutely rating every aspect of it and giving it a bunch of abstract numbers for those ratings.
Hey, I'd be honest, this game is at world class effort, I am sure this game will inspire more world class games from India. Kudos to the Indian studio. Well done!!
Honestly my favorite gaming related channel. You guys do such good work. Keep it up!
Thanks Dee!!
Was already interested in this game when they initially launched their Kickstarter. Backed it, but the Kickstarter was cancelled later due to lack of pledges. Am so happy that the game managed to get sponsored and completed.
They finally managed it but unfortunately one of the developer had to sell his apartment for finishing it. I know they will prove themselves with this game!

Yeah I’m pretty happy with this one. I had to restart it a few times just to see that beautiful opening again. I have had only one freeze so far and that was my fault I suppose for going to the home screen too many times (my wife kept asking me RL questions, lol)
I was just hoping the next video from the series was about this game, now I can buy without regrets 👌🏼
The game is epic, and so is the backstory of the game design. Must check that as well. Very proud of this game, it sets a benchmark for future mainstream game development in India. Great review video btw (end credits 👌)
I actually studied this kind of puppet theater it is called wayang (in its indonesian form) and is part of a series of old cultural arts from asian countries. Totally cool that they included this. I love it when games add a cultural point in the story
Yh it's based off an Indian puppet art form from Rajasthan. A lot of aspects of this game aren't exactly ancient Indian but still this is very traditional. Ancient Indian would include a lot more buddhist influence on the game since Buddhism was born in and defined Ancient India.
This wayang is actually from India..
Why is such little love given to games based off Mythology? There are so many cool world mythologies with rich lore and stories but so few video games based on them. The only ones which get some love are Greek and Norse, but even they are so sparse. Would be awesome to see more games on Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Arabian, Egyptian, Aztec/Mayan mythologies - and I'm sure there are other rich mythologies which I haven't even listed.
This is a step in the right direction though, as is Ubisoft's Immortals and the mythology GOAT God of War which is still going strong.
The Greek Pantheon is almost extinct. People are killing Olympians in the games.
Before even watching the video I'll tell you it's a keep. I bought it the minute it launched after seeing the presentation and it's actually really good!
I really love these new videos. Great job guys! As an Indian I was really hoping this game would be good. I'm happy to see how good Raji is (despite the issues you rightfully pointed out)and I can't wait to see what else comes out of India.
Thank you. It really makes for a lovely setting and lore to a game. Glen
Wall runs reminds me of prince of Persia.
Very much so! Glen
Beside me screaming when they showed Subnautica; this was the one that caught my eye the most. And now, thanks to you, I know it is as good as it seemed!
I request everyone to support the studio if you can. They are really the first and we would love them to grow.
Truly, truly loving this series 🙏🏻 Please keep it up guys!
Cheers! Got the game today
Nice format. You guys always have some great videos. And this is just another great addition to your videos.
Cheers Cody! Glen
The story and atmosphere of this game is fantastic. I have a minor grip with the combat, however. When facing > 3 enemies at a time, they are constantly interrupting my attacks and a lot of the time I can’t get an attack off with being interrupted to the point that I die. It’s frustrating to say the least.
Loving these series so long as full reviews come eventually cuz sometimes 2 hrs just isn’t enough.
I hope you guys do Hades next and give everyone a PSA about a HUGE sale on Bastion and Transistor, at least in US: 85%!!!
We just can't fully review every game, we don't have the capacity. As long as people take this particular series for what it is - our impressions after 2 hours on games that we cannot squeeze a full review in for and our full reviews will continue as per usual. Glen
Yeah it’s a huge discount on the SuperGiant games. Got both for 6.00. Us eshop. DEEP discount. Now I just need more time to play the games, lol
Awesome Glen . This looks like a great series. Just helps you give impressions on a few games without having to pump so much time into it
I love this format of video. You can tell a lot from a game within 2 hours of playing. Great way to do it.
I thought this looked really great on Steam. I was planning on picking it up.
Loving the game. It's beautiful and engaging. It also has somewhat novelty factor.
it really looks beautiful, think will pick it up in a few days
Another great vid. Thanks. Just bought a short hike. Very excited!
The game has a god of war (the original series) feel to it. Enjoying the game so far...
I was looking at this game earlier and wondering if I should get it! Stumbled on this channel and your video, and I'm definitely going to get it once I'm able. It looks beautiful, thanks for your swift review!
Dang bringing up Dante’s inferno, going old school, love it, thanks for the initial preview
Thanks for doing these, I like the format...
I like this series idea "would i refund". It's helpful. It makes more sense than a numerical system.
I was on the fence about this one I liked the style and gameplay looked good but felt the price was high was going to wait for a review. This video sold me this game thanks guys
Reminds you of Dante's Inferno's gameplay? You meant to say God of War, right? ;)
Been waiting for this game ever since it was revealed on PS4. Nice to hear thoughts on Switch though. As someone of Indian descent, there aren't as many video games that cover Hindu mythology, so this game seemed to scratch that itch a bit. Not sure about the constant narration though.
I'm glad you guys checked this game out! It really looks beautiful and I think I will be picking it up next week after pay day :) thanks for the first impressions!
Noice!
Love the art design on this, another one for the wishlist..
Loved the review mate! Cheers!!
Great work folks. Very tempting game, but personaly i will wait on a bigger Sale due to the game lenght beign 3-4 hours.
This format is nice, i Hope you guys do this for Nexomon Extinction next week, definetly hyped for that one
thank you for this very well made and concise review!
Great concept guys! Will you be covering Evergate as well in this series? I'm still deciding between raji and evergate, so I could use a second opinion.
Got it today, it's a great game. A bit rough around the edges, but all in all an amazing game. It's a keeper.
Thank you so much for making these videos! I wouldn't have bought A Short Hike otherwise. Will you be doing them for the other shadow drops?
The pole to enemy attack was from kingdom hearts 3 haha, i like it
Matt Ayaz for me I remember it from warrior within which was my first ps2 buy.
Looks lovely and i like this idea of a review, keeps things fresh and also means you guys don't need to stay up until 5am finishing them when Nintendo release a slew of games :) ... I checked the store price here in the UK and it seems to be £20 at the moment, not sure why though. (Ah, 11% discount until the 30th of August!)
Hey SwitchUp! Another great vid guys! Keep it up! 😎👍
Loving this new series. It's just enough info to get a good taste of the game, and I love the extra variety it will add to the channel.
As for Raji, I'm super interested in this game. Indian culture just doesn't seem to be very represented in games, and I'd love to get lost in this atmosphere and music. I would like a bit of a graphical update before I buy though, or a physical release.
I just bought it not gonna lie I'm hooked im glad I bought it. The story is awesome the combat is dope . Just buy it you won't regret it.
I'm really happy it looks good. We are in desperate need of interesting games and perspectives. Wishing the best for the studio.

Hello. You did another very nice presentation here, among other videos, of course. I find it objective, detailed and very money-objective in regards to any random buyer. Good job and keep up the great work, mates! :D
Thank you very much!
This game is developed by Nodding head games, a studio based out of Pune, India!
So glad you did a video on this! Hell yeah, The People's Champ.
You guys had me worried for a second that I shouldn't have bought it prior to your review. Can't wait to play later. Appreciate the quick work to get these out.
Thanks Jsmcgreg. Yeah, a fun game if you've ever enjoyed a Prince of Persia game. Glen
@@SwitchUpYt i have never played Prince of Persia, but there is new news today that remakes are coming to the switch this year. So I will keep my eye out for them.
Really lived that time frame when Dante's Inferno came out. We got Bayonetta, Dark Siders, and Dante's Inderno all at the same time and they were amazing. Loved how they each had a slightly different style so switching between then didn't feel repetitive even though they were all action games.
I bought it for 8 bucks on sale!! Really excited to play this
Great review as usual! Unfortunately, this looks difficult to play on handheld :( the character looks tiny even on the tv
Love the new series Glen. Cheers!

nice idea. are you planning to review Evergate too?
Great game, beautiful locations. I encountered minor problem witch switching weapons from the weapons menu. Fortunately this can be resolved by using shortcut buttons.
Hi guys. Thanks for the video. This game caught my eye in yesterday’s presentation. Even though your impressions are appreciated, I would much rather have a full review where you would have played the game to conclussion or almost to it. Cheers
This series is designed to bridge a gap where we simply don’t have the time for a full review so it’s this content or nothing really as I say - no time. Hope that makes sense? Mark
@@SwitchUpYt I understand. Better this than nothing at all. But if time is short, is doing this series not taking away even more time for "regular" reviews?
I'm not trying to start a "fight" or be annoying. It's just that I usually am looking forward to your in depth reviews and I'm worried that these won't be happening as often if you are covering even more. I don't expect you to review everything, but from my point of view I would you rather cover less games but more in depth.
Hope that makes sense as well. Have a great one Mark.
No this doesn’t detract from our full reviews they take about a week to make whereas we can turn one of these around in a day. Mark
I got an in depth one finished at 3am Phoenotopia and have another one out today :)
@@SwitchUpYt Again, I understand. And again, I appreciate your work. It's been very helpful for a lot of games. I have already watched your latest review. And can't wait to see the next one.
Have a great one. Cheers
Saw this game on Kickstarter a while back. Glad to see they got it out on the switch. I think it’s a great home for it.
Looks legit! Thanks for the preview
That combat system looks pretty interesting combining the parkour with your attacks, surprised that hasn't been done often enough for me to remember another game like that. Not having to play your cookie cutter white bread gruff guy you used to get in games left and right during the 360 era is a plus too.
I pick this game because i love PoP 😍
When i saw this i say this is Princco of India 😂
Love the new series keep it up
I'll wait for full reviews of this - someone mentioned it is really short and it is a bit expensive.
There's a full gameplay already that's roughly three hours and a half.
A bit too short for my taste, even if it's rushed.
I have it in the watch list for that reason
Starting off with the Trishula... Yeesh. How would you even upgrade from there? Glue on the Infinity Gems?
Still, this looks like something I might want to pick up after I get a few games in my backlog cleared up.
I like the art direction but the character is so small! My terrible vision can’t play it...
She is quite small! Glen
I kinda hate how new games have been doing that. As a developer I couldnt imagine making nice visuals just for them to be super tiny on screen but I'm not a developer lol. The tiny characters just makes me feel like I'm outside of the game and not inside of it
@@hayatefaith4273 its cheaper to make it like this
