In my Z Grills 700D4E Pellet Grill review, I cover the main upgrades Z Grills made to their flagship pellet grill in 2022. With the new pellet cleanout system and PID temperature control technology, Z Grills offers great value for an entry-level pellet smoker.
To test this pit out, I smoked a whole chicken, spare ribs, and a couple of chuck roasts and was super impressed with the smoke profile and how juicy all the proteins turned out. Z Grills 700D4E Pellet Grill is a well-built, great entry-level pit for a reasonable price.

You can set up Z Grills 700D4E Pellet Grill in about an hour and don't need any extra help. After an initial start-up procedure, the 700D4E is ready to produce a delicious BBQ.
The pellet hopper holds 20 lbs of pellets and has sloped sides which make pellets slide right down into the auger. I haven't seen any jams during any of the low and slow cooks I did. Plus, the new pellet dump makes changing pellets a lot easier.
Another major upgrade to the Z Grills 700D4E pellet grill is the new PID controller that has a cooking temperature range of 180°F up to 450°F. It reads the temperature to decide whether or not more pellets need to be added. The grill also comes with 2 temperature probes to visually monitor your cook.
I like that Z Grills 700D4E has a bottom storage cabinet with magnetic doors that stay shut even when you move the grill. You also get a grill cover in the box, which not many brands offer.
Overall, with 697 square inches of cooking area, the Z Grills 700D4E is made for a family of 4 to 6. With this size, you can easily treat BBQ dishes to a group of friends or cook for the week for a family.

I really loved my 700D4E. After researching pellet smokers for almost 3 weeks, I finally pulled the Zgrills on the 700D4E. It has blown my expectations away, from the durable build quality, ease of use, and flawless operation.
I"m in the same boat...researching like crazy. Are you glad about your decision still? Do you use Wifi and bluetooth? Any suggestions for today?
Great breakdown Ricer! Anyone that has a busy lifestyle, likes BBQ or does not like to use the stove during the summer months, this is for them. Nice looking pellet smoker, and so much better than that propane nonsense! Cheers
Zgrills 10002B has the proper lid & a right side shelf as well as a shelf in front , love it 👍🏽
Heck ya, very nice pit! Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the honest review. Looks like a pretty good pit for the price point anyhow, even with the few downsides
Great review. TY
Nice review Ricer Thank You
Hey buddy, I just picked up a new Silverback from Grilla Grills and they are made by the same plant that makes Z Grills. Main difference is Grilla has reinforced lid that secures the lid and keeps from warping I er time and a much better controller with Wi-Fi. They are both tanks and shouldn't need insulated blackest in our wonderful winters up here in Wisconsin unlike a lot of other more expensive pellet smokers do.
Hey Curtis, we're in the process of getting a Silverback to test out. Keen to see out it performs! Cheers.
@@SmokedBBQSource I think you will be impressed 👍
I have this. One person says the hot spot is by the burn pot but others say it's by the chimney? So who is right? Thanks!
I won't buy anything else but a Z grill!!
ok, smoker... would recommend Traeger especially for Customer Experience. I had paint bubbles shrugged off by Z Grills customer service, leaking grease from poor seam welds, and the temperature can fluctuate 20 plus degrees from selected temp and external temp probes. Customer service pushed my concerns with so many "try this" or "see if it continues, when you...." finally the warranty ran out and that was the last excuse they needed.
Dang, that is not good to hear!! Thanks for sharing!
is the 20lb hopper enough if filled before bedtime to last till in the morning?
Yep for a low and slow cook, just fill it up before you go to bed! Thanks for watching!
App sucks. HOw do you connect it ???
Well this model did not have a wifi app when I filmed it. Not sure because I have not had a ZGrills for a while now!!
would recommend buying pretty much any other brand. customer service is awful. they sent me a grill that the controller was broken. after weeks of trying to get ahold of customer service they sent me the wrong controller and then said they were sold out of the controller for the grill I bought and then said i would have to be on a waiting list to get one. please just buy any other smoker. or buy one from a local place that you can return it.
Dang, that stinks!!! I never had any issues with customer service, I wonder what is going on there?!?!?! Thanks for the info!!
