- Join Priya Krishna in the Bon Appétit Test Kitchen as she makes feta cooked like saag paneer. Saag paneer is great, but you haven’t lived until you have made saag feta: Priya's take on a classic Indian dish of of firm, curdled, and unmeltable cheese simmered in a gravy made of greens (often spinach).

Priya Makes Saag Feta | From the Test Kitchen | Bon Appétit - Jak na to + styl
I love Andy, Brad, Claire, Carla, Chris, and Molly; but Priya is such a nice breath of fresh air!
Don't forget rick!!
@@russelcode144 Rick sadly doesn't work at BA anymore =(
@@Nocturne22 Neither does Claire
@@czrm4789 wait....she doesn't?
@@KvthrynC Not anymore, but apparently she freelances now and will maybe still makes some appearances.
Chris Morocco probably just permanently stays in the Test Kitchen
Haha hes just showing up for work give him a break lol
he lives in the test kitchen
Recently not seen on Friday morning in Claire's most recent video.
And the stool that he sits on is his roost lmao!!!!
he sleeps under one of the workstations. if you look down he must be watching some netflix and stealing some food while he is at it lol
Onion, Ginger and Garlic = Asian Mirepoix!
omg yes. hahah
Oh wow...
Ok, so what happens if you add shredded carrot and juiced celery to that mix?
@@ginsengaddict World Mirepoix
Please don’t screw it
@@ginsengaddict it will taste amazing, because onion, garlic and ginger are literally the best flavour boosters.
"how much rice is too much rice? i don’t know if there's such a thing."
same, priya. same
Priya: It's only one pepper you can handle it trust me
My acid reflux: *I'm about to end this whole man's career*
Ahahaha. I can relate. I have been letting down my Indian-ness since birth. Can barely tolerate chillies.
Man's whole**
Is the man not also whole, @abhitastic7?
shuchinsk Depends, are you only avoiding ending the careers of amputee’s out of pity? Lol jk, this whole convo is great
I was hoping I'd get to see someone else try the dish. I especially love when Chris Morocco tries other people's dishes. He always has these authentic, insightful things to say about them, and I just love listening to him talk. I remember when he complimented Brad's mustard and internally I was like "Go Brad! That's high praise."
chris stanning brad's mustard is so pure and good.
More Priya, please!
No thanks. I really don't want to watch a filthy person licking their fingers, wiping their nose and then going straight to the cutting board. How does this get no criticism from the comments? Every videos she's touching her hair, licking spoons and using them in the pot. Nobody like that should be allowed in a professional kitchen.
I mean she's not cooking to serve, she's cooking to demonstrate. It's totally fine in my opinion if she has small kitchen habits as long as she and the other BA staff are aware.
@@alvinlee2234 exactly. I'm a professional cook and am constantly wearing gloves, washing hands and taking every precaution to stay as hygienic as possible. At home on the other hand, that's a different story. This guys just a jerk and no fun at parties. Also the rest of these chefs do that too so maybe even add a pinch of racism! 😊
@@BattleBornGunBrokers you seem racist
Ryan Roberts methinks you don’t like her for another reason...
Culture is always growing and changing. You use whatever cheese you think tastes good.
@Bruce Wayne Exactly. Food has evolved this way in all cultures. For example, gazpacho dates back to the Roman Empire, but the tomato-based form we typically think of when we imagine gazpacho ("red gazpacho") wasn't developed until centuries later, when tomatoes were brought over from the New World.
@Bruce Wayne Indian food didn't use potatoes either until a few hundred years ago. Since potatoes were originally found in South America. It was only until Europeans went there that they were used everywhere. Now potatoes are probably one of biggest ingredients in Indian cooking now.
@Bruce Wayne I love you batman
Feta spinach pie is literally one of the most famous, traditional and popular Greek dishes.
And feta is so much more accessible than paneer. I love paneer but when I travel for work, I can’t find it. Using feta makes sense
"If loving feta cooked like saag paneer is wrong, I don´t wanna be right", quote to live by :D
Priya is glowing omg we need more of her😭💘
Spoken like a true wlw
No please. She is a horrible cook.
@@BruceWayne-eh4im- disagree. And you seem to say this just for the sake of saying it...
@@Shelsight What do I have to gain by saying something for the sake of saying it. She is a horrible cook when it comes to indian food lol. She put whole coriander seeds , no one does that lol, thats not going to be pleasant to taste nor will it grind up properly.
@@BruceWayne-eh4im All I'm saying is give a rationale, as all cooking (like art, music, or anything creative) is subjective & based on interpretation, culture, audience, ingredients, technique, etc - multiple subjective elements. So I'm just saying give constructive criticism, rather than damning with no comments or explanation. You just slam. Nothing else.. It's lazy.
Can I just congratulate you all for having such an all-star cast in the Bon Appétit kitchen? Every time I see one of you, whether it be on camera, in the background, behind the scenes, or even if I don't see you behind the camera, it brings a smile to my face.

this video is bomb. pay her.
Find yourself someone who looks at you the way Priya looks at Ghee! :D
More Priya please!!!
Is it even a BA video if they don't say "homogeneous?" 😂
haha
or “emulsion” lmfao
Haha I swear I had the same thought when she said it! 😂
or do not curse?
Anytime someone says "Homogonous" is definitely part of the BA drinking game.
props to the cameraman for keeping us in the moment when the producer was looking for a measuring cup
Love the diversity of dishes in the test kitchen! They always have something for everyone!
Love how Andy and Priya are able to bring their personal backgrounds to the kitchen.
I'm looking at this comment now... I assume you know what happened at the BATK
Jeremy Warren OOF maybe time for me to delete this comment...
Lol your comment hasn't aged well
@@Rue747 haha
As a fellow South-Aisian I love watching Priya and Sohla making traditional dishes because I get to see how similar yet different our cultures are just within the subcontinent. I'm Punjabi and what Priya calls chhonk we call a tarka. We usually add really thinly sliced onions that get really nice and crispy in the oil.
She seems so happy even though she's not getting paid. She seems so nice.
Her and Sola not getting paid to do these videos doesn't make any sense whatsoever and is difficult to believe. Are you sure they weren't getting paid for these segments? I thought they just weren't getting paid for their contributions to others people's videos. I don't doubt they were treated unfairly, and it always seemed odd that none of the non-white chefs had their own series, while nearly all of the white chefs did.
@@humanormachine2936 She was told to do it for free for her book promotion. She started getting paid later but it was still way less than her co-workers
@John R I know he's not white. I kind of assumed that he was being compensated fairly because he's male, but obviously, I haven't looked into this situation. I honestly don't know where to get a reliable account of the story.
Very informative! Wish there is a Chinese chef cooking in Bon Appetie!
Well, there is a Korean girl, though.
@@JamesPawson Not the same!
@j mula Wow.....
Way to pass judgment on a whole culture's cuisine!
You do realize that dog comes up pretty much not at all to the usual Chinese chef? And that plenty of Chinese people are against shark fin soup?
Check out Chef Wang and Chinese Cooking Demystified if you want to educate yourself :)
@j mula .... ok racist...
j mula i mean yeah but you don’t need to be racist while supporting a cause... kind of ruins the point
Anyone else just think "AW LAWD HE COMIN" everytime Priya says chonk?
Jackie yes
I feel like I've had to re learn what it is every time she's brought it up because she says "CHONK" and my brain immediately blacks out what's else she's saying because HERE HE COME
if it helps, what she’s talking about is spelled chhonk
It's actually pronounced as Chhaunk but her American accent makes it sound like chonk which made me confused for a while but it's hilarious 😂
So happy about how much love for Priya there is in these comments. She's awesome! BA, if you read these, more Priya please!
Saag Paneer with feta is fantastic! I've also made it with lightly fried halloumi for a nice taste and texture.
I love Priya so much, please make more videos with her
OMG!! She has given out our secret ingredient asafoetida !!! 😱
@singh padda trump?
When I was a kid here in Texas, you could go to the corner store and buy wax paper wrapped squares of asafoetida about the size of Now and Later candies. It was used for medicinal purposes. The smell of that stuff was...unique.
Plantsmantx yep, it is a resin of plant and has medicinal uses. It is an anti flatulent. It has to added to food that produces flatulence, like protein rich daal has to have a tadka/chownk with ghee zeera garlic hari Mirch and heeng. Garlic is also medicinal( many uses) and is a mild anti flatulent, too. Onions on the other hand can cause flatulence. Indian cooking is about balancing flavors and medicinal properties.
pto Asafetida is gross 😷 🤢
It is really that ingredient which makes food taste amazing.
No, Priya. I can't smell it over here. :(
Edward Adams 😂
Priya is my favourite after Claire and Brad. We need more of her!!!!
Jocker
I am way late to this video because I need a BA fix that I hadn’t seen, but why is she your 3rd favorite? She seems like a great person, but she can barely cook without her parents. I would rather watch her parents cook authentic food.
@@jainiajackson3216 Wow, I had completely forgotten about this comment. I actually agree with your point. Priya has gone waaay down in my rankings since I made this comment.
Great video as expected from Priya... Was kinda hoping she'd call her dad again...
my mom instinctively started making this when we moved to italy and paneer wasnt readily available. its so nice to see that this is something that happens universally

Yay, more Priya videos!! We need at least one a month guys!!!
More Priya, please! Such a great, lively presenter, wonderful at explaining things and describing the flavours/steps etc.
Why is this Priya content so rare? She's by a wide margin my favourite on this channel.
Nic Mertens as a brown guy, I completely hate her cooking. I wish they had someone who showed something more authentic .
@@zarz15 well the name of her cookbook is indian-ish. It's not going to be completely authentic.
Chonk is also called tadka in northern India
Yaaaaaaay, Priya is back! I love how whenever Priya does a recipe we always get a fun family story integrated into the recipe, it makes it heartwarming.
Making this for the 4th time in 3 weeks...can't thank you enough! Sooooo good! May you all be well at BA!
I use queso fresco btw works really well
Also I take the blender container off and either onto the counter or sink and then transfer the food from the pan that’s easiest for me
I've been meaning to try out this dish ever since this video first came out and tonight I finally did! It's amazing!! Priya's recipes never let me down 😍
I did this today!! it is absolutely delicious! thank you so much for the recipe, now I get why you said " I like saag paneer, but I LOVE saag Feta"

More Priya videos please! I love saag paneer, this is a nice and simple recipe.
I tried it, scaled it back by half, turned out great! Thanks, Priya! I will make again for sure.
YUMM!! I cannot wait to try this recipe !
I love Priya’s recipes and her choice of words 🤩 Also, is Chris Morocco drinking from a measuring cup at 1:04? 😂
Nah, just a plastic container. Really common to do this in kitchens.
Looks like any plastic take out container for soup.
quart container life
When I worked at a Chinese food/American food/fried chicken hybrid place, they always had instant coffee by a microwave on the side, and we would use the quart containers for making coffee, drinking it while we worked, then we’d wash the containers and use them again for coffee or for soup. Eh, sorta weird, but odds are if you ordered soup, it was in a container that at one point had coffee, because we went through coffee like it was nobody’s business. Me, the owner’s wife, and the other line cook, would probably go through a jar of instant coffee every week
LOVE Priya! Please bring her around more!
I just made this at home, and it is so so so good!! Thank you Priya!
Hmm I actually have every ingredient (except the feta and asafoetida) at home right now, maybe tomorrow’s dinner.
yes! go for it!
Try it, it's one of those dishes which are very hard to mess up...!!
You don't need asafoetida
You can make your own paneer for the recipe. Look it up on CZcams. making paneer is super easy and the only things you need are lemon juice and whole milk.
@@JustSomeYTuser I would be disgusted if I find aesofatida in my saag paneer. Aesofatida goes only with certain Indian dishes (mainly simple home cooked food)
Omg I’ve actually used feta in my paneer before. Completely by accident but it worked out amazingly and I’ve done it since college
Yesterday saw your video and couldn't stop thinking about it. Today made this, husband loved it.
Just made this for dinner and it’s absolutely delicious!!! Can’t wait to receive the cookbook!
Priya: you want to buy block feta not precrumbled in the package
Me, who has precrumbled feta in the fridge: 🙃
Some butchers provide bulk feta or other cheeses for restaurants.
You can remove the blender jar from the base, then you can even place it in the sink so that it's low and any spillage goes into the sink!
I need more videos of Priya her recipes look so delicious!
Love this recipe Idea.
One may also suate the cheese cubes before adding them into the sauce. The brown bits are amazing.
I made it! Tastes great, totally winged it on the spices and may have over spiced a bit but it was delicious!
She’s great! I love her personality!
Also very happy to see a variety of foods, more Indian recipes would be awesome!
Priya didn't FaceTime a relative in this video, and now I feel incomplete 😩😂
Alex Parker She is at least getting on her feet
Super easy & super good. Huge amount of flavors. A great introduction into Indian food if you've never had any and a delightful twist on the traditional if you have. I'm with Priya here, the feta makes it better.
@ William Sawyer thank you for telling us that the Feta makes it better I'll try it now.

The Illustration on her cookbook is so dope!!!
