    The U6 Enterprise is a great AP as I have one in my home network setup. To fully utilize the 2.5Gbps ethernet port on that U6 Enterprise AP, I would suggest getting a Ubiquiti SFP+ to RJ45 adapter and plug that into port 11 on your UDM Pro, then plug you AP into that.

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci

      That's a great idea. I'll look into getting that SFP to RJ45 adapter and seeing if I get any improvements. Thanks!

      @@aeagleski That's like asking what the best car is. A lot of it is opinion. A better question to ask is what is the best modem that my internet provider accepts. Most internet companies only have a specific white list of modems that they allow to connect to their network

    I've had a U6 Pro for just over a year now, Speed wise I'm happy can pull right at my full gig connection 940mbps over WiFi. But range is not the best compared to my old ASUS router. I've thought about trying out the U6 Enterprise. Loving my UDM Pro though

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci +1

      That is some really good speed your getting. It's hard to say if the extra cash for the enterprise would give you more range. You could also get another pro to extend the rang of your current network. I'm loving my UDMP too. It's got so many features that are keeping me busy learning about. I was happy to see that I didn't lose out on much speed when setting threat detection to it's highest levels.

    I had a similar problem. I pay for 500 download and upload speeds but was only receiving 120mbps speeds with U6-PROs. I actually traced it back to a bad UniFi flex-mini switch I had. Once I removed that, I get about 400+mbps speeds with wifi.

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Interesting, so that switch was causing a bottleneck. Tracking network lag is pretty tedious at times but it's fun getting it all to run in the most efficient manner.

    That LR AP isnt going to break any records. You need the pro. Even with channel optimization it is a pain. I purchased a pro for work and it was awesome. Even boosting the bandwidth doesnt help sometimes. To get it right you really need a Pro and a 2.5gig switch. I see now you figured this out and the enterprise will fix the issue too. I have tree of those LRs and two minis and they all have the issue.

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thanks! I'll def check out the Pro if I end up getting another one.

    So I understand, this is basically a splitter correct? What is the best modem on the market for Comcast before installing this?

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 3 měsíci

      The Dream Machine is a router that doesn't have a built in AP. That's where the U6 Enterprise comes in. The benefit of that is you can have multiple APs in key areas to get the best coverage. I'm not familiar with Comcast modems but I'm sure whatever they provide is fine. The modem just acts as a catalyst for your connection.

  • @clemj22
    @clemj22 Před 7 měsíci +1

    hello, it seems to me that you did not really understand what the "unifi-lr" was, it is a long range access point, which means that the built-in antennas are made to transmit a signal on over long distances, but it's not designed to break speed records, 400mb/s for long range is very good, for high speeds you need the enterprise range (it's a bit overkill, but it allows a lot of things).

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci +2

      Yeah, I def didn't understand. My LR wasn't emitting long range at all. Perhaps I didn't tweak the setting enough but the U6 enterprise that I replaced it with has a longer range than the LR, from my experience.

    doesn't the dream Machine pro have poe ports, why get the poe injector for the AP? will it not get power from the dream machine poe ports?

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The Pro has 8 non-poe GbE ports. The SE has 2 PoE+ and 6 PoE GbE ports.

    Taylor, bro, what has happened to you? Before I think you were living in an apartment next to a freeway. Now you have a home as big as J-Lo and Ben! The place is so big, I haven’t seen your cats in the last few videos. Seriously happy for you as you look to be thriving. Oh, I’m not sure that cabinet for your equipment is very attractive. 😂 Maybe time for less toys and a few solid furniture choices. 😮 Oh, and a question, why not just a simple less expensive mesh system, like Eero? Cheers and Merry Christmas!🎄

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci

      haha yeah, I def needed a bigger place. Thank you. That cabinet has been with me since college and it's very much on its last legs.
      That's a good question and I really wanted something that looked nice hardware-wise, that had a sleek interface, and a lot of powerful network tools. The Unify hardware hits on all those points pretty well. There's some seriously awesome firewall features and network logging features packed into the dream machine pro that I didn't touch on in this video.
      Merry Christmas!

    I probably buy UDM SE not UDM Pro becouse You have a poe ports on UDM SE but I dont know about U6 Enterprise can be powered from UDM SE and that AP is for 2,5 GBit conection and on UDM SE onlu Wan (port 9) suport that speads and SFP 10 gbit ports

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci

      The UDMP SE was tempting but with the nonSE being $100 off retail price in the winter sale I went with the nonSE. I believe the Enterprise supports 2.5Gbps but is totally compatible with 1Gbps. My internet maxes out at 1Gbps.

    wild how ubiquiti keeps getting away selling us mini pcs in a different form factor for 3 times the cost. and we keep buying it, because it's white, and it reminds us of apple

    • @colindaniel9777
      @colindaniel9777 Před 4 měsíci

      They aren’t just selling a computer, they are selling an environment. If you want to run open source router software on a 10 year old HP mini pc, you are more than welcome. Like Ubiquiti says “Simplifying IT.” They have spend the time, money, and R&D to make something user friendly for people who are wanting to get into SDN.

      @zacki5663 Před 2 měsíci

      @@Legendary_UA basic comment pal. nobody said they forced you. the point is its ubqiuti is a marketing company now, long lost their innovative spirits they were founded on after going public. they are in such a rush to make all your hardware redundant they fast track releases of fully incompatible series of products that bring little new to the table. if you disagree, fine, but take a hard look at what their competitors have released in the last 3yrs vs what ubiquiti has and youll realize they’ve hardly innovated, only released more expensive repackaged versions of their older stuff. open one of those devices and you’ll see the BOMs are low-mid tier hardware in a nice looking case at 10x cost… you probably wont though, because they try hard to make sure you’ll never get a chance to use any other hardware with their walled garden approach

    Had like an A4 of text to post. But will reduce it to this: welcome to the UBT community, but based on this video It think you still got a lot of learning to do when it comes to networking and/or wifi. Ubiquiti stuff is initially plug and play but you gotta keep in mind that this HW is at least semi professional hardware if not professional. So if you are managing it yourself, dig into some networking courses to be able to unlock the actual power of the unifi ecosystem. You'll enjoy 🙂

      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci

      For sure! The learning and experimenting with the network features is something I'm looking forward to. There's lots of opportunities for cool projects with this and a large reason I'm interested in this hardware is to learn. Thanks!!

    • @TaylorBrauer
      @TaylorBrauer  Před 7 měsíci +1

      That would be ideal but ATT doesn't allow that with their modems, unfortunately. However, the speeds from the modem to the actual dream machine pro aren't bad at all. I pay for 1Gbps and I'm getting 904Mbps into the DMP. That's with threat detection all the way to the max.
