- There are a lot of perks in Fallout 3. The majority of them just provide small bonuses to various skills: +5 to Repair and Medicine, +15 to Barter, +10 to Speech, that sort of thing. But there’s one perk that actually gives you a new way to attack enemies. Can You Beat Fallout 3 As A Nuclear Anomaly?

Can You Beat Fallout 3 As A Nuclear Anomaly? (in text form)
Uh… probably not. Nuclear Anomaly is a perk you can’t get until you reach level 30, which also happens to be the max level in Fallout 3 even with all DLCs installed. In this challenge, the only way to attack an enemy is with that perk. So could you somehow reach level 30 in Fallout 3 without attacking anything? I highly doubt it since there are no XP farm “exploits”, if you want to call them that, like there are in Fallout 4, at least not that I’m aware of. Which means there are 2 ways for me to get this perk and both involve cheating, but we’ll get to that in a bit.
Inside Vault 101, I named myself Adam Bomb, and started assigning SPECIAL Points. I drained Strength, Charisma, and Intelligence because they had no value to me, maxed out Perception and Endurance to be able to take a couple important perks, and put the rest in Agility and Luck. Looking back, Luck was probably a waste, I think I would’ve been better off putting those points in Strength. The bonus to all skills is negligible and I have a hard time believing Critical damage applies to the walking Nagasaki perk. I did kill the roach during my 10th birthday party only so that I wouldn’t have to play the game as a baby or as a child, escaped the vault without attacking anything as I’ve done many times, and stepped outside ready to leave the world of mortals behind and take my place among the stars.
I used the reward xp command to give myself enough experience points to get me to level 30, and began the process of assigning skill points and picking skills. In an effort to not become too overpowered, because I’d be at level 30 and would have a bunch of perks by the time this was over, I spread out my skill points evenly amongst all skills as I leveled up. I think this is a fair way to balance things out. Almost half of the skills - Big Guns, Energy Weapons, Explosives, Melee Weapons, Small Guns, and Unarmed - are worthless since I can’t use any of those weapons. Doing it this way kept me from maxing out only the skills I’d be using, like Medicine or Repair. I’m not going through all the perks I picked, there isn’t time to talk about 30 different perks.
The big ones were Explorer which marked all locations on my map, Rad Tolerance to slap Minor Radiation Poisoning back to where it belongs, Rad Absorption to turn my sweat into a cool neon green color, Devil’s Highway to set my Karma to Very Evil, Toughness which was a dumb move on my part, No Weaknesses to raise all SPECIAL stats lower than 5 up to 5, and Nuclear Anomaly. With this perk, any time your health is below 20%, you erupt into a devastating nuclear explosion causing big damage to everyone and everything near you, including your armor and your limbs. - Hry

This is one of my favorites of your works, Paul. Great comedy as usual. However, there's a tragic twist, one you probably didn't even know. If Adam Bomb can survive his own NUCLEAR DETONATION, hell, even being
HEALED BY IT, it's actually pretty likely he would be the sole survivor (unintentional Fallout 4 reference) of the purifier exploding. He is the accursed immortal. Unable to die and any attempts to do so wipes out 6 city blocks per attempt. He can never die. Not fully. Truly the most pitiable character you have ever created.

@@i-am-a_person8598 Possibly. He does, in fact, still age. But then that got me thinking...what if he still came back? For those that don't get the joke, Adam here "revives" whenever he dies (when Paul reloads a save so in my headcannon he is immortal not just because of that but how his explosive curse works) and radioactively explodes when near death/dies.
So...I see three potential outcomes.
(1) He dies, violently explodes, but because of his age, doesn't come back. Finally, finally...resting in peace.
(2) He dies from old age at say 88, explodes, but is revived at a stasis age, say 33. So he has another 55 years in his "natural" life span before being reincarnated into a younger form.
(3) And the most purgatorial, he dies of old age, explodes, and comes back...just to die of old age immediately and explode again...just to resurrect, die, explode. Again and again and again. Because he came back right as his "natural" life span hit zero, he is forever trapped in a perpetual series of never-ending, radioactive explosions. A most grim fate indeed...
So thanks for letting me brainstorm this. It was fun!

Imagine if this perk was implemented into Glowing Ones instead of their weak ass flare. Now add an ability to raise other ghouls in the process as they can in Nuka World DLC and make them US soldiers stuck in their power armor just like Ghost People in Dead Money. That'd be quite an enemy type.

The Mr sandman perk works.. it gives you XP whenever you use it and kids can only be knocked unconscious in game and it's kinda morbid but you can do the sandman perk on kids for infinite XP

The poor coding of bethesda games is what makes them magical in my opinion
My issue when people complain about Bethesda games is that I don't know of any other open world games with bethesda's level of character customization. The Witcher and breath of the wild are both open world games, but they prescribe a character to you. Having multiple race and gender options is a lot more additional work for the programmers than it seems.

The mutant hillbillies in Point Lookout have a similar perk for their weapons too, IIRC.
No they don't. Certain DLC weapons simply have an effect that does a certain flat bonus damage to the player. Tri-beam laser, lever action rifle, and the double barrel shotgun are 3 that come to mind. Thusly, any NPC will gain the bonus effects against you if they were to somehow get a hold of those weapons. If I recall correctly, I don't think it's even hidden, and examining the weapons in the pipboy will show a -X health as the effect or something, but if you look in the mod tools you see that it's conditioned that it only applies bonus damage from attacks to the player. I actually modded that crap out of my game a long time ago, because enemy attacks that ignore damage resistance isn't a very fetch way of increasing difficulty.

Not a hidden perk, but instead have 40 unblockable extra damage when wielding a tri beam laser rifle or super sledges.

4:56 it’s not just a useless perk because of how finicky it is, it’s because of the alternative perk you can get at level 30 raises all of your special stats to nine... so the perk seems kind of trivial in comparison to what you can get

there is exactly one XP farm in fallout 3. the locked door on the side of the flooded part of rivet city. you can manually lock it from the inside and gain XP from picking the lock again and do this ad infinitum.
Im pretty sure once you pick the lock once its permanently open. Even if you flip the switch I'm pretty sure it will stay unlocked cuz it's already been picked open. that lock is a very hard lock so you need a skill of 100 to pick it. At early levels I can see it not working cuz you need a 100 lock pick level but later on maybe if your lazy and dont know how to play the game cuz after a certain level you can go out in the wastes and get plenty of xp by just killing shit and looting. I noticed for me the first few levels are usually hard cuz you dont have much gear or caps or anything so it can be hard if you dont know how to get leveled up fast or don't know how to find better gear but once your level 10 I usually do a dlc to get better shit and than after a dlc is completed you come back like 4 levels higher with advanced gear and you can go pretty much anywhere on the map. Obviously death claw sanctuary and yau gauie caves are a no no till after level 20 but either way xp isnt much of a problem Unless your speed running like mitten or dont know how to play the game correctly lol
Im pretty sure once you pick the lock once its permanently open. Even if you flip the switch I'm pretty sure it will stay unlocked cuz it's already been picked open. that lock is a very hard lock so you need a skill of 100 to pick it. At early levels I can see it not working cuz you need a 100 lock pick level but later on maybe if your lazy and dont know how to play the game cuz after a certain level you can go out in the wastes and get plenty of xp by just killing shit and looting.
