What a badass, i literally asked him to make me a video on how to zero a rifle like 10 hours ago. HAHA Thank you!
@ishnifusmeadle I didn't know the minutes on the scope dials. It was helpful for me to see the 25 yard sight multiplying the adjustment by 4. Then at 100 yards dialing the knobs by 1x
Had the footage.. got to work on it right as I read that. Haha
@@ishnifusmeadle yeah I was thinking that myself. Read the manual dug 😆
@OvertonWindex Appreciate it! Your tutorials are simple no bs stuff I find it most helpful. Like the short you did on pistol iron sights, I didnt know that stuff. Learning as we go. Take care dude.
You went from having random youtube shorts of your messed up gloves talking shit to having the most informative gun channel on CZcams. I love how well you teach all of the basics. Most of us are so arrogant but I'll admit you actually taught me how to use my Red Dot so much better.
You play with the tape yet?
I wasn't prepared for 11 straight minutes of you.
Thanks for being honest in this video. Lots of opportunities to cut and make yourself look near perfect. I think it's important for people to see genuine solid shooters make the mistakes we all make.
Ok... that's interesting for a whole slew of yourube video making reasons I'm positive you're not even aware of..
What precisely are you talking about if ya don't mind?
@OvertonWindex when you didn't have the mag seated, dropping a round, when you called out 3 inches instead of 2. Those kinds of little things. I've done them all, it's refreshing to see other people, who are much more accomplished, make the same mistakes. I'm not trying to disrespect you here.
@@jeffblalock6326 no no I was just genuinely curious. Thanks!
Practical application. I love that you stated at 25 and did the math. I also love that you use MOA, MOA is so much easier. This method is a “full proof” method of not getting “lost in the dope” while zeroing a newly mounted scope.
@@johnadams673how many mils tall is an average dude at 700 yards?
If you want to range a guy with moa... measure on reticle. 70 inches tall... measures 10 moa... 70/10= 7... Times 100 , you know he's at 700 yards.
Input dope. Doesn't get simpler than that.
10 inch plate at unknown distance? Measure in reticle... 2.5 moa tall? 400 yards. 2.5 inches at 100, 5 inches at 200 yards, 10 inches at 400 yards.
Are you drunk?
Enjoy the content keep going.
@@OvertonWindex Actually your math is totally wrong. If you stop using things that are multiples of 10 it wouldn’t work. In your person example, if that 70” tall person measured 5moa, your math puts them at 350 yards (5x70=350). But they’d actually be closer to 1400 yards. What if that plate was 7” and measured 2.5 moa? Your backwards math isn’t going to work.
Additionally, since moa isn’t exactly 1” at a hundred yards, even with your incorrect math in your man example, you’d have been off by over 30 yards. The actual distance for a 70” tall man measuring 10moa is 668 yards. Depending on the ballistics of the round you’re shooting, you might miss with your 700 yard calculation.
Your examples sound good to those that don’t know, but they’re just plain wrong and wouldn’t actually work with different numbers than you used.
@@vwpilot00 You're so brain dead, I cant even understand it.
70/5... = 14... 14x100... 1,400 Yards.
@@OvertonWindex nice try, you edited your original post. You had 70x10=700. So nice try to save face you did not have the division or the x100. Besides, you’re still wrong since a 70” tall object is 668 yards away if it measures 10 moa.
Instructions unclear, no arms were blown off.
I like this style of video. Its a more relaxed pace and the music fits well
I'm just jealous of the covered, deserted range you got there.
This country has more guns in private hands than the rest of the world combined, but we have a decided lack of good quality ranges.
If I was a billionaire, I wouldn't be doing the things those vermin be doing. I would be building top notch ranges and training facilities.
I love that you're not a condescending asshole to the people who are trying to learn, instead you're a condescending asshole to the people who are trying to grift. Looking forward to getting my decal and my patch.
^ he gets it
I happily joined the smooth brain patch club !
@@BigDan7114I fuckin love that patch. Giggle like a schoolgirl everytume I see it
@@OvertonWindexme too ! Feel free to add a Blunt Skull one as well I identify with both 😂
i just built a supressed SBR AR10 and im hoping for these kinda results , cant love this vid enough , nice details , ADD break and little notes and explanations for each adjustment , good breathing behind the glass and fundamentals focus
Awesome video. Solid content and straight to the point. Too many shooters need to get their ego out of the way and pay attention to these fundamentals.
BTW, what's that little mini tripod you got there? My JOBY is getting worn out and that looks perfect for range use.
It's not super great. I'll find a better one by the end of the day.
The first step in zeroing a rifle, is making sure the scope and mount are properly installed with a level, correct torque and eye relief. I’ve seen so many people trying to zero their rifle and fail because they installed their optic themselves without knowing what the hell they are doing. Just like everything else, you learn with more experience.
Wrong. That is mounting a scope. That is not, zeroing.
@@OvertonWindex Technically yes, but I’m not wrong. I’ve been shooting professionally in the military and as a civilian for a long time, just adding some important info.
@@wisco_guy And you say that… something beyond fathom dumb.
@@OvertonWindex Okay, what’s so dumb about checking your gear before shooting? That’s common sense and good practice. No reason to get butthurt over one comment and lash out like a douche. Way to engage with your audience! 👏 You’re never going to grow your channel by disrespecting others. Grow the fuck up.
Thanks for sharing, Mr.Windex👍🇺🇸
I love the editing at 7:45 to show what youre talking about.
Thanks for uploading this. My brain is still ůber smooth. Thanks for making it easier for me to zero my holosun.
I find break time to be best part of the range time. I take the fun guns. .22s shotguns and let out stress.
I just bought the DD5V4. Nice to see you using it.
Dang thing is shooting quarter minute... happy with that...
Great stuff, man! I like seeing this type of content. Can you do a video going over your build specs? Especially the scope, scope mount, bipod, and trigger?
Nope. Plenty of that out there.
when you have a heart transplant, sometimes the vagus nerve is cut and that causes problems with autonomic function
Thank you for this process will help when i zero my .308
I love shooting at that range! I live 25 minutes from there. It's awesome to see someone close by making content. Keep it up man, maybe we can shoot some time!
Thanks for being the cool asshole who actually teaches useful stuff in a well thought out manner instead of stroking ego ans jist regurgitating a bunch of bs. Think you could one on setting up a scope on your gun ? Liek getting correct eye relief, cheek weld and all that goodness ? Always have a problem explaining explaining it to folks without being there .
Thanks !
For me, the first step is to take the bolt out and boresight it. I typically zero at 200 and am always in the aiming black of an SR target.
I've done that about a thousand times, and out of those thousand times probably 80 ended up needing to go back to paper, closer, anyway. So now I just start at 25.
Exactly. Bore sighting is a total waste of time.
Paper at 25 NEVER fails.
Though it does look weird to bring a 28" pacnor heavy palma barreled 300 prc to the 25 yard line sporting a 6-30x....lmao.
@@steve390gold There are those that can; and for others there is the 25 yard line.
@@bpm990d those that claim they can, have not done it enough to understand that it can sometimes fail.
Further are you are saying OW cant?
Ill take that bet right now. And ill toss myself into the fray as well. What game we shooting?
@@steve390gold No, I was replying to you because you said it was a total waste of time. He has actually has done it with a success rate above 90%. Not exactly a total waste of time huh?
I’m sure that someone has asked this before, and you’ve probably already answered it, but what is that scope mount and can you give a brief description of what it does? I’ve seen it on atleast one other build of yours and I’ve never seen one outside of that mark wahlberg movie (aka I thought it was fake)
But will it take off a limb if you miss?
I was waiting for this hahahaha
Next one….Leveling your reticle. Do you use a “Level, Level. Level? Or a “Plumb Bob”?
Digital level. Level the gun, in a way that it won't move.. with the digital level on the picatini, mount scope, put level on top of turret to level.
How much does that bag under the stock help?
My man .. I love how u just happen to have a red bull placed in front . I do the same every range session I do. Red bull needs to sponsor you.
Thanks for the info!
I would love to hear your opinion on barrel break in on a new rifle.
Nice ! ❤ From New Subscriber 🇨🇦
“Well would you look at that” what a boss
What is that bipod there? I have seen some elaborate ones before. But I have no idea who they are.
What Caliber Sir ?
I absolutely learn from all your videos.
Thank you !
6.5
Thank you. Very good looking Rifle. Keep doing these awesome videos!
What barrel length?
Do you do one round at a time to keep the gun as light as possible? Genuine question. Excellent information by the way.
Who makes those scope mounts and bipod?
awesome video man, you should make more videos like this.
Git sum!!!! I’ve been eyeballing the DD5 for a minute. Go, no-go for the full power cartridge?
I've had it for a day, and less than 40 shots. Haha, standby

@@TheEvanRoach Give it time. Trust the process.
Good job Windex...👽
I have been debating between Knights Armament or Daniel Defense for a SBR, what is your opinion? Have you used them both?
Whose trailer did you steal those stands from?!?
is the cage around the scope just to protect it from impact or does it do something else?
2" to the right 😉
What is contraption on scope
I'd love to be this good! Appreciate how honest you are. You are a great instructor. 👍
Ok I have to ask. I love guns, but what is that exoskeleton looking thing around your scope? I just have never seen one. What is it for? Or what does it do?
He hangs his wet socks/gloves from it if they get wet at the range
@@adamlawrence2346 what no way seriously. If that’s true I would have never once thought that was the reason for that.
It's protection for the scope, but also allows attachement of a device for extreme long range shooting that is essentially a prism and provides extra MOA of vertical adjustment for the scope (I'm probably not really explaining it well, but it's mainly a frame to allow for attachment of that device).
@@BattleChemist ok now that makes sense. Thanks
Boot scraper for mud too.
Clearly, you know what you are doing, and I value what I have learned from your skills. Thank you. Breathe work is something I've got some experience with and when I broke my back, I valued it. One thought to consider, try breathing in through your nose with the heavy exhale when setting up to shoot. Nasal breathing promotes calmness and clarity. The heavy exhale also promotes calmness. Parasympathetic stuff.... Next step, breathe that inhale into your back instead upper lungs or stomach.
I'm just purging co2 so I don't feel the urge to breathe. Not to calm down. But thanks!
Did you zoom into max magnification at 25 yards and 100?
No
Thanks, do you prefer moa to mrad? I learned moa first but am comfortable with both, math is logical either way 🤷♂️
team MOA
Hey I was at that range 2 weeks ago lol
Do you want a cookie?
Good grouping sir! Gun shoots small!
I imagine you like checking out exquisite guns, if so go check out Texas plinkings last video ol boy had a 300 warlock with a wooden stock cold bore hit for a gold coin ..
I dont watch youtube
@@OvertonWindex what you don't watch the videos other folks post, why? Not that care. just kinda odd no pun intended
Music was great. Love that rifle, too. Would you recommend it?

Hell ya Brother!!
Okay, so is meters/yards just a preference?
suuuuuuper long story short.... Yep.
I wanna shoot as good as you man you are a badass love your videos. You're in the top 5 gun tubers in my opinion
What ammo were you using?
Overton out here shaming hunters and wasting a box of ammo "zeroing" at 100. 😏
Yeah to be clear, forgot to mention...
This process is 4 shots. Not the youtube friendly version where I show you confirmation that the adjustment "worked" at 25 and at 100.
One shot at 25, 3 shots at 100.
Dammmm, wish i could ,im not bad with a slingshot at 10yrs,,haaaaa
Looks to me like you've done this at least once before
Cool
What's the name of the bipod you got on there?
Never named it. Uhhh... Margo.
What’s the muzzle device on here? Looks like an aggressive flash hider
Yep

if they are here in my mountains, they are welcome to join in
When does the snow disappear? I'll make a visit in summer.
But muh rifle came zeroed from the factory derpa derp.
Amazing if this is wrong please correct me an old man told me before you shoot empty your lungs instead of holding your breath what are your opinions preferably with supporting details
Niether.
Rest at the bottom of your breath.
I take those couple deep breaths before I fire, so I don't have the urge to breathe at all.
@@OvertonWindex thanks man
Wanna bet on it?
outdoor ranges are 🤮
You did it wrong.
Don't you want to be high at 25 since it'll drop at 100?
Holy F though that's a tight shooting rifle and a hell of a group
No. You want it to shoot low at 25y to make up for the scope over bore distance.
@@wisco_guy interesting. So technically you're always zeroed at two distances. Bullet starts low, crosses sights, goes above, comes down, crosses sights again.
