One of the best value for money utes on the market in Australia, and a much better option than any of the Chinese offerings!
I have a 2023 model with the same km reading almost. The instrument cluster showing the range will also show the average lit /100 etc if you press one of the toggles on your right on the steering wheel. On a recent trip to Bellarine from SE Melbourne I got 6.79 lit/100 and urban driving I get roughly 8.8lit/100.
My last Ute was a MQ Triton and I feel the Musso is a better Ute than that.
All in all we are happy with our purchase @ $44k drive away.
My man, found your channel recently and really enjoying the reviews and vids you do, especially on upcoming cars. There keeping me informed and helping a lot.
Keep up the top work mate - shoutout from Sydney as well 😊
Thanks a lot. Glad you're enjoying them. And thanks for the feedback - I'll aim to do more on the upcoming stuff.
I have a 2023 Ultimate and love it. The tech is fantastic and the fuel economy is outstanding. 2 trips from Melbourne to Sydney and Sydney to Port Macquarie. This presenter needs to read the book of rules before making comments about what you can and can't do with the drivers display. Most comfortable vehicle I have driven for many years.
Better owner reviews than all other utes on product review, that speaks for itself.
Mine has been a dream, so much more refined than the other offerings and the auto locking diff helps a lot. The rear end flex with the coils is also awesome.
Drop your brand snobbery and test one out.
Great review mate. I just bought the short wheelbase today, dealers are willing to negotiate on sticker prices too. I like the fact you can turn off the aids easily. Dual-zone AC, heated and ventilated seats and an 11.8m turning circle for the SWB or 12.2m for the LWB. Peak 4X4 sells a lot of aftermarket and genuine things like wireless chargers for under 300 or Korean factory-fitted rear LED tail lights. You don't hear of people with DPF problems like the GWM.
I know it's not perfect but I can't afford a D-Max or Ranger so this, the LDV T-60 or the GWM Cannon are really the only options if I want new. Also in it's favour is the ridiculous prices of mainstream used utes, unless I want one with 200,000 km on it.
Imagine 10 years ago Telling your mates you have just spent 75 grand on a ute
Looks like there's some serious delay with the digital rev counter when changing gears. The gear change sounds snappy enough but the rev counter seems to not keep up.
Best car with coils spring
Love your channel and where you shoot, were is this would love to test out my 4wd there. Where is this located?
Brett has a secret location where he tests the cars, has been tortured but never reveals the location😅.
@@perpetualgrin5804 - somewhere in the Southern Highlands. But I wont tell you where either :)
Whereabouts is this route? I'm in Vic and looks good to check out
Thanks for that, good review .. I wish someone would do an on road / off road review with the shorter wheelbase ELX for a change , way much better off road than the XLV, The Korean Army thinks so, they have hundreds of them they use as command vehicles .. Cheers
If they could just sort out the suspension and ground clearance this would be a genuine threat to things like HiLux and Ranger. Would also benefit hugely having improvements to its 4WD arrangement - lockers and auto selection like Mitsubishi would be a huge improvement
They stripped out the light/power from the bed a year or two ago which was baffling
I’m glad they kept this steering wheel for Musso because they’ve changed it in the Rexton and it now has cheap buttons that are far less usable or intuitive.
As Jeremy Clarkson once said. It’s like ordered 5.5 metres of car . Not outstanding in any area. But will perform the task , all in beige.( yes a Toyota reference )
Nice 4times4 pick up truck 🚐⛽💰💲⛈️🛣🌜👍👍
This might be a silly question, but are the decibel levels taken from inside or outside the cab?
All good. Recordings are taken inside, right in the middle of the cabin with the pickup pointing forward.
Thank you 👍
The Drive recommendation is suspect as I can find a comprehensive review on it and how they came to that conclusion.
In your opinion which is the better ute, this one or the GWM Cannon?
Go the Chinese ute we should support them they buy all our iron
If you read Product Review the GWM does not get a good rating for Customer Service.
a lot better looking than the previous model, seems pretty good to me its basic without being too basic and equipment seems generous, I wonder with Ssangyong how reliable are they over time . Suppose for the price they are a no brainer compared to a Hilux or Ranger I have driven a 2019 Rexton as a loner and it was a good car but the 4x4 system clunked and knocked as it found traction which for me was very agricultural but it did the job, I don't feel 4x4 systems are Ssangyongs strength.
Don't trust traction control in anything. Diff locks are the way.
@@unclesmate The Rexton has part-time 4WD with selectable low- and high-range 4WD and an auto-locking rear differential
Underrated mate. The badge snobs will tell you otherwise but Ssangyong have been building engines and 4wds for over 70 years they have just had bad luck with ownership and poor earlier design choices and struggled to crack the Aussie market. I’ve test driven a few of the big names and about to purchase this in the ELX (LWB).
@@johnnyk9452 this thing has issues with its design.
@@unclesmate may be so but considerable improvement from the earlier models. It’s hard to look past what you get for the price point
Query, leaf or coil rear in the tested configuration.
I suspect coil but would like to know for certain, thankyou
Coil at the back on this one.
Coil on SWB also plus 4 wheel discs.
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia 👍
Farmers in South Korea love the base model of these and they'll beat the crap out of it for years.
A good thorough review, has put me off buying one.
Thanks. Glad it helped.
why?
@@unclesmate Thanks for asking the question. I regularly read the posts on the FB Musso owners group specifically to see how often the vibration issue around 80 kph crops up.
It seems it is rare but the problem does exit, possible fixes, transmission mount, wheel balance/road force balance, tire pressure, replace wheels/tyres. On a new vehicle, do you really want to fork out the extra money to fix. The vehicles that have the problem, it seems the manufacturer denies there is a problem! The gentleman doing this review, is a mechanic and probably a good one at that in my option, I back his expertise. Reading between the lines, the review wasn't a glowing report, it sent shudders (pun intended) when he mentioned vibrations.
@@lostmysoultoday9005 thanks man yeah I completely understand where you’re coming from.
@@lostmysoultoday9005I have a 2023 SWB and I don’t get any shudder on ours. In another 10k kms I will probably change the shocks and springs on ours but that is no difference to what a lot of people do to there Rangers etc. Whilst there are some owners who are not satisfied with utes I think the majority on the Musso page are happy with their purchase.
Sounds like tyre pressures are too high.
PERFECT CAR
Put a load in the back and it probably sits beautifully
Your acceleration runs were all performed in ECO mode...not PWR.
During Vbox testing I tried both and default mode returned the quicker result. Keep in mind the video is only a video; not timed. I do all Vbox runs (often 4-5 runs) off camera 👍
4000Nm In the description 😱😱😱
That'd be a lot!
Fixed. Thanks
Great utes....the vibration thing is a whole lot of BS..
Great video, the vehicle is a disappointment though.
Why, have you driven one or own one?
@@johnnyk9452 I just hoped it would be cheaper. Generally crazy money for utes now.
@@jamiefrangos9233 yeah fair enough.
