- Access Hollywood spoke to Britney Spears’ cousin and former assistant Alli Sims back in 2009 about her year living and working with the pop star in the mid-2000s. In this throwback interview, Alli explained how she thought Britney felt when her dad Jamie Spears got involved in her life. “I think that she definitely wasn’t up for the fact that she was losing certain control on a lot of different aspects of her life because of her age and everything,” Alli explained. Alli also said Jamie allegedly threatened her with lawyers if she didn’t keep her distance from the singer.

Damn, the fact that Britney’s dad was isolating her from her support system speaks volumes to how abusive he was. Isolation is abuse. This whole thing is abusive.

I Read everything I could on her, because I was concerned and wanted to know just like many. They even reported the Court Document with a List of where she spent Money, each thing every Month. It was very Clear, something was wrong with her and they said she did NOT ever spend like that before. And they PROVED with another List how she spent BEFORE her Break Down. Although this was NOT the ONLY defense in Court her Parents had, it was ABSOLUTELY one of the Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. They had a LIST of things/symptoms and Doctors in Court. That's why the Judge gave her father Conservatorship.

What kind of a man would call the police (at least 12 police cars) because his recently separated wife would not part with the baby for a couple hours, and allow them to break into her home, take her baby from her arms, strap her to a stretcher, and tell her they were transporting her involuntarily to a mental hospital - all while sirens and paparazzi lights were flashing around her? An abusive one.
What kind of a father would take advantage of this situation, after his daughter had stated he was abusive and she wanted nothing to do with him? She was right. An abusive father. He used the time while she was involuntarily held in the mental hospital to prepare court documents to gain complete legal control of her finances and her life. He declared there was urgency in his request and claimed she was too ‘mentally incapable’ to hire a lawyer for herself, so he should be able to gain full conservatorship over her in the brief time she was in the mental hospital - so she could not get a lawyer or defend herself. He was granted full conservatorship over her. He claimed she was mentally incapable of retaining a lawyer - and since the judge agreed to this at the onset, she was forbidden her human right to retain counsel to defend herself for 12 years.
The legal and psychiatry systems failed a woman who was a victim of domestic abuse. They gave an abused woman’s abuser complete control over her career, finances, and personal life. This is legalized domestic abuse.

One, I don't think someone would claim that they were not there when there were cameras quite literally everywhere, and it could get easily verified if she was or wasn't at the house that night. I'm not saying she was or wasn't for a fact because I don't know. However, have you ever had to deal with the police; Outside of a simple traffic stop, if you have endured a traffic stop? If what you are saying happened to be accurate, her lying about the cops “leaving,” I can almost guarantee it was not something done with ill-will. That sounds like someone trying to get their loved one to come out on their own and not have to experience the alternative of the police coming in and removing her themselves because the cops will indeed do just that. Family members will lie to avoid a forced removal by law enforcement because they care about their loved ones going through that, not because they are vindictive. As a mother who's had her fair share of struggles and who understands why any mother would not want to give her babies back just yet, I also am not shocked in the slightest that the number of squad cars there that night was high, along with an ambulance. Does that make it right necessarily? Of course not, but as I think about someone else’s comment regarding how many officers and people showed up and thinking that that is something unusual, it's not unusual or even suspicious based on just that alone.
I guess you forgot about when Sims used Britney's name to land a reality show on CW without telling her and got Sam Lufti to all but FORGE BRITNEY'S SIGNATURE to get the deal done. They both used and abused Britney for 2 years ago got away with it.

? When Britney was recently before the court she did not ask to end the conservatorship, just a change in the financial conservator. Her father more than doubled her money. So I would say he has done a pretty good job. People are making huge assumptions about a private matter that the public knows little about. Yes, I think it is important that the court and social welfare look into it. And they have. Every hearing they have about continuation includes a Doctor's report. The doctors are not recommending the conservatorship end. If this was anyone else people wouldn't even care but because she is a star the public thinks they should get a say?

Yep. I went through a mental breakdown myself about 5 years ago & because I’m not rich or famous, I was able to pull my life back together & keep my baby girl & live a happy life. This interview is so important for people to see. Her father kicked everyone out of her life except her immediate family, who were okay with the conservatorship, so all her friends or anyone who would support her and try to help her get out of the conservatorship, were kept away and apparently threatened with lawyers. She was left alone. Britney is a genius for not working and her absence from the stage has brought more attention to the Free Britney movement. I also think Miley Cyrus helped it a lot with that episode of Black Mirror. And I heard Miley was also threatened by Jamie, so, she can't even probably speak up for Britney as much as she would like to.

Britney's dad, literally threatened her(Alli)..that's why she dropped out of Britney's life. Not because she wanted to. This whole conservatorship, is total bullshit. We all know this. It's only because of the #FreeBritney movement, the hulu documentary, that everyone else is finally seeing that. Britney deserves her freedom. She's 39yrs old, she will be 40 this December. In the beginning, yes, Britney needed help. She needed a break from all the craziness. She needed help to get her life organized. The conservatorship, was only supposed to be temporary. But now, its been exactly 13yrs. I do not trust her father at all. Even back in the day, when there were pictures of him and Britney, I always thought he was a creep. Britney never wanted him to be the conservator. If the judge had appointed somebody else as conservator, maybe a non family member, somebody who has experience with handling these things, I have no doubt that Britney would be free today.
Britney's housekeeper said the same thing. She was told not to talk to Britney, not answer her phone calls, Jamie told her he was in control, fired her, and threatened her. Only she said this back in 08. But, hell no. Britney didn't need help, she needed a break and some privacy. A conservatorship is designed for the demented and senile elderly. That was never meant to help, it was meant to control. It is unheard of to do that to a young woman.
Really humanizing interview. I remember that era before social media where the papparazzi were literally CRAZY and everywhere in this woman's life. Her answers let you get into Britney's shoes more. She was just a cooped up young woman who was afraid to leave the house because she'd be mobbed by 50+ people to take pictures of her. I can't imagine that! I get hungry for some food and run to a takeout place and then I get thousands of people online calling me insane and need to go to a hospital. LMAOOO. I would literally live in a home without windows and never leave lol. Then when she does build up the courage to leave.. she's spun as a mentally insane person running around unchecked. Unreal lol.
@J Min Good point. With the way the media was spinning her life it’s easy to see how something like her conservatorship came about.. really, really sad. Seeing her perform or give interviews in 98/99 and comparing that to post conservatorship? The difference is shocking. Poor britney :(

I think Britney as a new mom suffered postpartum depression and the paparazzi situation made it worse but she didn’t need conservatorship she needed therapy.
