#react #reaction #theequalizer - Zábava
You can never go wrong with Denzel. I don't think he's ever given a disappointing performance.
To anyone who has never seen it, give, Glory, a try. A younger Denzel giving a stellar performance in a film full of them.
@@MH-jx1hc I second this.
watch fallen... seriously underrated denzel movie from the early days
@@vkdeen7570
I've also recommended this to reactors, to no avail. It's perfect for a reaction though.
@@MH-jx1hcfire movie
"Ralphie's gonna need some serious therapy." 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Before you watch Equalizer 3 you gotta watch Man On Fire. It was the first movie the two of them worked on together and are reunited in part 3.
The ending is more melancholy.
19:30 The song that starts playing over the store's speakers is 'Midnight Train to Georgia', the big hit song of the group Gladys Knight and the Pips. It's a reference to Robert's earlier conversation with the employees that he used to be a Pip, one of Gladys' backup singers. And it's a message to the employees that he's on his way to help them.
Mary, trust me when I say that you're going to love the two sequels. Denzel's take on the character of Robert McCall is absolutely brilliant, imho. Fantastic reaction as always!! 🙂
The sequels are definitely worth reacting to. Mary would love them.
Make sure to have seen Man on Fire before watching Equalizer 3 though.
Hi Mary. Mr Moustache, the big guy who gave Robert a harder fight is actor Tait Fletcher. He has the distinct honor of also being killed by John Wick, grabbed by his beard and shot through the ear. You may know him better in The Mandalorian. He plays Paz Vizla, the biggest Mandalorian in the covert. The Equalizer, based on an incredible TV series in the 80’s. The life lessons and wisdom taught by Robert McCall in the TV show saved me more than once walking home in the streets at night.
He also was killed by Ben Affleck in "The Accountant." He's quite good at dying. 😂
That was Paz!?
@@Caseytify Yes. Tait Fletcher was Paz in the armor. The voice is John Fabreau. Tait did appear with his face seen in the very first episode of The Mandalorian. He had the first line said to Din. “You spilled my drink, Mando!”
Parts 2 and 3 were solid movies as well…Denzel Washington is just so easy to watch.
Edward Woodward was the Equaliser in the 80's original. He was the the guy running the CCTV and with the blunderbuss in Hot Fuzz.
He was also in The Wicker Man and was the voice of Peanuts.
Edward Woodward IS The Equalizer.
Denzel Washington has never made a sequel to any of his movies. He has said that he felt there wasn't anything else that needed to be told in his previous movies, the story was completed as far as he was concerned. Until he made The Equalizer. And he made two sequels. And they are great.
@2:25 Gladys Knight and the Pips was an American Soul/R&B Group in the 60s (maybe 70s too??). Probably not disseminated much outside the US music market back then.
@6:09 "Dedushka" is grandpa.
If you feel like something a little less "actiony" and pretty sweet, "Awakenings" with Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro would be something I bet would appeal to you. It has "Good Will Hunting" feels to it. I hadn't thought of the film in 15 years and recently saw another reactor watch it. I think you and your audience would like it.
The book he was reading "The old man and the sea" is also a classic, fantastic black and white movie
Loved this watchalong with you, Mary.
If you want more Denzel, please try Deja Vu one day.
When I was a kid, I loved the original TV show. I was too young to remember all the details, but I think it was about an ex-special forces guy and his team, who had an agency which helped regular people in need, people who didn't have the connections or resources to get a good detective. Their requirement was that if they were needed to help someone else, they would do it, so some characters came back several episodes later.
The only time I remember them charging money was when a kid whose parents were kidnapped, wanted to hire him and said something like "I want to hire you, but I only have $2.74" and McCall told the kid "You're in luck! That's exactly our fare!"
I enjoyed this movie a lot too. It felt like a great backstory for a reboot with Denzel.
Glad you enjoyed this one!
"Oh, there seems to be a smudge of blood there..." 🤣
Man on Fire is an amazing film too
Robert McCall helps people.
If they need mentoring, he mentors.
Motivation, he motivates.
And those that are evil and need to be disposed of... he takes care of that also.
7:06 “Tell me, where is Gandalf. For I much desire to speak with him.”
"The book I am reading now is about a guy who is a knight in shining armor, except he lives in a world where knights don't exist anymore." Robert McCall is reading is *DON QUIXOTE* written by Miguel de Cervantes in 1605. It is often labelled as the first modern novel and one of the greatest works ever written.
One of my favorite quotes is from the musical based on that novel: To each his Dulcinea, though she's naught but flame and air." 🙂
MarI, you are the best. I really enjoyed rewatching this through your eyes. If you enjoyed this movie, you will enjoy the two sequels that follow. Thank you again for wonderful content.
Can't wait for Equalizer 3 reaction
yeah, again 'cutting off the snakes head'.
"Absolute Power" (1997) Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, Scott Glenn, Dennis Haysbert
"Man on Fire" (2004 remake) Denzel Washington
"Eastern Promises" (2007) Viggo Mortensen
"A History of Violence" (2005) Viggo Mortensen, Ed Harris
"A Perfect World" (1993) Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, Laura Dern. Directed by Eastwood
"The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" (2009 remake) Denzel Washington, John Travolta, James Gandolfini
"The November Man" (2014) Pierce Brosnan
"The Peacemaker" (1997) George Clooney, Nicole Kidman
"Tightrope" (1984) Clint Eastwood
Two things: the song in the 'Home Mart' in the end confrontation is 'Midnight Train to Georgia' one of Gladys Knight and the Pips Greatest Hits, also if you liked this you should really watch Denzel in 'Man on Fire' (2000).
@20:38 -- "mr mustache" has the distinct honor of getting unalived with extreme prejudice by 3 unstoppable one-man armies: in "the equalizer" & "john wick" (both 2014) and in "the accountant" (2016).
Man on Fire. I recommend like others have said. Great reaction Mary 🙌🏾
This franchise is based off a 1980s TV show of the same name. It starred Edward Woodward and had a great open credit score by Stewart Copeland. The online ad Robert puts out is a nod to the TV show as the original character had an ad in the newspaper that read the same thing.
I love the idea that, you as a European, delve into American movies and tv. What a way to educate your self about American culture, history and slang.
Awesome reaction of my favorite The Equalizer movie!!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
@19:40 min. the song is "Midnight Train to Georgia" , by Gladys Knight and the Pips...
I remember watching the The Equalizer (TV Series 1985-1989)
A former CIA spy (Edward Woodward) is now a private investigator that helps out clients with problems that are beyond the normal authorities in "The Equalizer". Peace out.
20:25 "All the different murders are unique in their own way."
I can't let that go.
There are no murders here.
The definition of murder: "The unlawful premeditated killing of a human by another human."
What Robert is doing here is:
Not unlawful; it's justifiable in self-defense and the defense of others.
Not premeditated; it's spontaneous and demonstrated by the fact that he is literally using tools at hand whereas the villains purchased guns in advance and brought them to commit murder.
So for two reasons, this is not murder.
I get it.
Most people don't like to see one person killing other people, even in movies.
We know it's wrong on some level, emotionally or psychologically wrong in our minds even when the killing is logically justifiable in a court of law.
That makes us get emotional when we talk about it.
And that makes us reach for emotionally-charged language even when it's wrong, even when correct language like "justifiable homicide" is far more appropriate than "murder".
But saying things like that just doesn't sooth our raw emotions at what we're seeing.
Nevertheless, "murder" is one of those words that newscasters and political activists and other people use to MANIPULATE the masses and I stand in opposition to that every time.
I am not saying you were doing that.
I'm just saying whenever I see the word misused I call it out so that everybody who takes the time to read what I write will be less easily influenced by those who do try to manipulate them.
Thanks for sharing your reactions!
I love watching your responses to my favorite movies.
Another great reaction to a very uplifting movie. I love movies where there is justice dealt out to evil people. I guess it's because there is so much injustice in the world (especially in the US) today. I believe it is the fantasy of being an avenging angel that appeals to all decent people. I believe this notion of justice is what appeals to Mary.😊
I think a spot on observation friend. Because that's just where I find myself at. The equalizer series has it all. To see one of my favorite reactors being blown away by it, now that's priceless.
6:04 дедушка/dedushka means grandpa in Russian. That's why they asked him if he could still "get it up?".😅
I love your reactions. There is a whole genre of “old guys kicking ass” like Taken. I love The Equalizer II.
The red haired girl that was speaking with Denzel at the hospital played in a movie with Denzel again in "Magnificent 7 " the newest one. Ot was really good remake.
Good reaction.
Based on a TV series of the the same name done in the 1980s. Former super-spy quietly living in New York, who sets about helping people with nowhere else to turn. Completely different actor to Denzel (Edward Woodward, great British actor, looked like a bank manager), but the basic dynamic exactly the same - he would start by approaching the bad guys, to either warn them off or (sometimes) to offer a compromise. When the bad guys inevitably refused this offer, he would then set about systematically taking them and their entire operation apart.
There was a recent remake of the TV series done, which I have not seen, but haven't heard much good about.
If you decide to get to Equalizer 3, you should watch Man On Fire beforehand.
This is an awesome movie. The good news is, EQ2 & 3 are even MORE awesome! Can't wait to see your reactions . . .
Howdy from north Texas Mary! The actor who plays the main baddie is Marton Csokas… you may have recognized him as Galadriel’s husband in The Lord of the Rings… have a great day!!!
"The Old Man And The C!" Sesame Street edition.
Grover dressed as an old man in a row boat on top of a giant letter "C!"
Denzel Washington movie recommendations: Fallen, John Q and The Book Of Eli!
Definitely need Denzel Washington movies. He rarely has a bad movie. Mary, I think you would love "John Q"
There are two more! ALL excellent movies!! Looking forward to your reactions! Good job sweet lady!
There's also a tv show The Equalizer staring Queen Latifah.
This series has everything the Mission Impossible films wish they had.
Grandpa is what he was saying to him.
Great reaction.
Was a fan of the original TV show, which was very different. Then McCall was a former CIA agent who became disillusioned with the company. He was in his late 40s/early 50s, and rarely resorted to violence. The format was more along the lines of the original 1960s Mission: Impossible, where the plot was more of a scam or heist, and the antagonist was arrested or discredited. McCall used a team of oddball experts to help him, long before the idea became common.
Someone has already mentioned Man on Fire, so I'll bring up Unstoppable (2010), co-starring Chris Pine (Star Trek 2009), about a freight train full of dangerous chemicals without an engineer onboard. Based on true events.
Love this movie! You will too! 😊
Hello Mary, Alina's tall friend at the hospital and Robert McCall are in their next movie together. It is the re-make of " The Magnificent Seven ". Watch the early version first.
All 3 of these movies are great! The nail gun he uses at the end is one you use to put the nail or bolt in concrete. The shells have gunpowder in them, so the nail or bolt will go into solid concrete. That's why you see him cock the gun before every shot. A regular nail gun is powered by air pressure. Great reaction! Please react to 2 and 3 they are both great!😊👍✌️
Yes, watch Equalizer 2 & 3. Great trilogy!
This Is One Of My All Time Favorite Movie's,Nice Reaction Sweetheart
Aside from being the name of the fine 1980s TV series on which this film is based, “equalizer” is (or was) underworld slang for a sidearm. Edward Woodward, who starred in the TV series, is especially remembered for his performances in “Breaker Morant,” an outstanding movie about a true incident in the Boer War, and in the cult horror movie “The Wicker Man.”
DEFINITELY worth watching the sequels
This was a big TV show when I was a kid... a must watch, Sunday evening show. All our parents were devoted fans... must have been a big deal at Denzel's house as a kid.
Love this trilogy, the tranquilizer, that's funny.
Glad you liked the film. Love your reactions. Looking forward to watching the sequels. Haven't seen those yet. Thanks, Mary! Goodnight from California.
This was originally a TV show and this is the movie adaptation of the show. Rob Reiner's character in "The Wolf of Wall Street" watches the show in the movie.
cant believe you cut the "what do you see when you look at me?" scene
As always your reaction makes me smile. Thank you!
Sadly, your edit left out one of the best action lines of all time. "He didn`t come for help, he came for permission"
The Music is the motown sound, some of the best music made. Gladys Knight and Pips, Diana Ross and the Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Freda Payne etc. Please do react to the rest of the Equalizer movies. and concur on Man on Fire before Equalizer 3 just to see Dakota Fanning an Denzel Washington first move together, makes the Equalizer 3 more special IMHO.
Loving you and your reactions.
It's Mary time!
yes the other 2 films are soo good
Mr. mustache has been killed by the accountant, John Wick and The Equalizer.
Mary, if you haven't already seen it, I strongly recommend the sci-fi horror movie "The Mist" from 2007. No doubt you will have a very emotional, visceral response to that movie. Or maybe you want to say that one for next Halloween, the scary movie season…
You should check out "John Q" its a denzel movie that breaks my heart everytime i see it
I would like you to react to the Brazilian film, - CENTRAL DO BRASIL. This is a classic from Brazil 🇧🇷
thank you for the video
Unfortunately Equalizer II is not even close to the excellence of this movie - the usual 'Squeal Cash Grab' type of film. I have not seen number III yet, but I have 'High Hopes' since Denzel is reunited with Ms. Fanning in that one (the young girl from 'Man on Fire', which you should definitely react to is you haven't already).
Denzel Washington is just an amazing actor in everything he does. Great reaction to all this action, looks like Luna slept through it all.
People love John Wick. And I get it, I liked the movie too. But this is way better.
Something very similar but with a twist that makes it worth a watch is "Nobody". I suspect you will like just as much as "The Equalizer."
I just got my wife to watch this franchise. She was more into it than I was lol.
Hi Mary , I'm so happy to see your reaction to equalizer Denzel is a great actor in this movie I hope you watch his second and third movie of equalizer when your channel some day !!
You will get Robert" definitive back story in #3 Susan is an example of a retiree from a three letter agency. Retirement is just your new cover. Don't trust these people. Don't tell them anything that you don't want the government to know.
I think it was taken from an old 1980s TV show that may parents watched. However the film is way more violent
Yeah good old Robert gives Jason and Michael Myers a run for their money with the kills in this movie.
5:25 No, sex work a.k.a "prostitution" is not complety fine just because it's consentual.
If some homeless guy consented to be a slave for something harmless, like house keeping or cotton picking, we would not allow it. And that would be less bad than selling your body for money.
Just because two adults are consenting, that doesn't mean anything goes. It's just so weird how so many people just don't have these basic values anymore
Nobody does intensity like Denzel.
There was a US television series in the 1980’s starring British actor Edward Woodward this movie was based on. It was a good show but did not last for a long time.
It was on the air for four seasons. Not a mega hit but still successful. If you can get enough episodes for syndication then you will make money.
Definitely should watch parts 2 and 3 as well. Good stuff. And as someone else mentioned, please watch "Man on Fire" - the theme goes along well with the Equalizer series!
Thanks for another great reaction :)))
Thanks!
Great movie!
Thank you, Iggy!
I've been waiting for this one, Mary. Denzel is definitely a Robert, not a Bob! Lol. Great reaction, as always.
As fun as the first John Wick was, i preferred this movie (and even more Nobody later on) because it's a better reason for his actions and i really liked the creativity in the store scene at the end.
If you haven't yet watched Man on Fire, make sure to watch that before watching Equalizer 3.
Thanks!
Great movie! 🍿💯
Thank you, Iggy!
Please consider doing Runaway Jury. It a great courtroom drama/thriller
suggestion a Denzel crime/thriller film The Bone Collector(1999)
Something I can never understand is - in the scene where the Russian/Slav/whatever guy came to Denzel’s door pretending that he was a cop, he was speaking English pretty much without an accent. And then later on, he’s speaking English with an accent, because, well, he’s supposed to be a foreign guy. But the part I don’t understand is, why is he speaking English with an accent when he’s capable of speaking English without an accent? This happens a lot in movies, and it’s stupid. I mean does it take more energy to speak without an accent - or maybe it’s painful or something? I don’t know.
I think the second and third are worth watching.
The equalizer 2 and 3. The girl was in kick ass 1 and 2* 😍
17:17, Well, it's all about how young you are and whether the big brain or "the little brain" speaks the loudest to get the most attention. If the little brain controls the conversation things can get messy and complicated.
The thing about sex work is that in theory I am in favour of it. With security and will, I do not see any problem with it.
In reality, however, it is just such a dark world in which "will" and "voluntary" are not free, and thus are not real. Human trafficking, abuse, exploitation, no other parth forward.
I just do not know how this problem could be solved, honestly, because outright banning it would push vulnerable people even further towards the fringes of society, so we need a smarter approach to it, just like we need a smarter approach to deal with drugs. Obviously human trafficking is for me on a whole different level of importance, but both are markets that will always exist, no matter what the law says, so they are pretty similar in that sense.
The only thing that I can think of is creating sex worker unions, making brothels, strip clubs, etc, follow union laws, or even be cooperatives, so that the sex workers are themselves the owners (removing the pimps, basically). I am sure illegal brothels would still exist, but then you would have a clear path forward, just like there are companies that violate safety and labour laws, but since there are laws, they can be punished (in this case, very harshly, hopefully).
Also support from the government for sex workers who want to leave the space with things like scholarships to learn trades, etc. If people have reasonable options to leave, then one can actualyl call it voluntary, otherwise it is coherced at best and forced at worst.
great movie but it deserves more than 22 minutes
Cool reaction as always Mary, you take care and have a good night sweetie 🥰❤️
This is a really good movie. The sequel is equally good. If you need a tv series to react to try "Person of Interest". It is a mix of this, minus the killing, (lots of shot kneecaps) and the reality of an AI overseer. Very good reaction.
Remember that movie where the character being played by Denzel Washington loses a fight? Me neither....
Honey is an antiseptic
You have quite a progressive opinion on sexwork. Most people lump trafficking and sexwork together and vilify both as equally evil and criminal. There is nuance and difference and treating it like a monolith is very common, especially among religious people. Thank you for broaching it briefly with such a delicate but concise view
