What a Generation of people they've all gone.
But, they live on, on Talking Pictures TV! I'm so grateful for that channel. Many of the things I watch, I wasn't even born then - it's fun to say things like "my mum was 7 years old when this came out", or, at times I can say "I was just an infant or small child back then". Noel Cronin BEM & his daughter, Sarah, along with their wonderful TPTV team, are truly serving a community of people, those of us that are bored rigid by, the at times so crass & vulgar, banality on TV these days.
What a lovely, gentle, modest, man Derek Fowlds was!
He certainly was Mark. A terrific actor and so down to earth, not affected by his fame. Sadly missed.
A Lovely Lovely Man and a True Gent, whatever he was in I enjoyed he is greatly missed RIP Derek.😢
Very nice words, I could not put it better. I discovered Derek Fowlds in Australia watching "YES, MINISTER" and later on I saw him on "YES, PRIME MINISTER" and "HEARTBEAT". From my limited experience in Australia where I watched a lot of British TV series and films thanks to ABC, I would say that the 1970s and 1980s were the Golden Age of British television; it carried on a bit in the 1990s (MORSE, AS TIME GOES BY and LEWIS) but it was ruined by "political correctness" and "diversity" 🤮🤮🤮
Such a talented actor. Amazing career, and great actors to work with. Loved him as the gruff Sgt. Blaketon, in Heartbeat. You will sadly be missed.
I go back to his time with Basil Brush, what a wonderful man.
I cried at the end of that.
Had a very tough childhood so I was so happy to hear Derek was loved and had his mother in his heart always.
😅I was very lucky to have met Derek and what a wonderful person he was I just wish I had more time with him sadly missed bless him.
What an absolutely genuinely lovely man. May God Rest your Soul.
Best SGT In Heartbeat Such A Nice Man Poor Derek

What a great guy. So sad they've all gone.
What a beautiful video. Such a wonderful, talented actor who shows such humility. Loved watching this. Thank you
Derek played the Sargent in Heartbeat to a tee and had some terrific lines with claude greengrass one of the best
Started watched Heartbeat in 1992 and I’m still watching it in reruns. Great English TV show with a fantastic cast
Best documentary I have seen. What a lovely man. Sadly missed by many I am sure. 😅😅😅😅

@@RABBITANDSNAIL you made this film?! I didn't read the bumph at the top. Indeed, what an honour, to document the career & life of this truly wonderful & gentle, gentleman. Yes, terrific actor, too. You lucky duck, you got to meet him!
I not read a post about Derek,s role in YES MINISTER &YES PRIME MINESTER.He played his role to perfection as in the fact that he was a subordonate but had more çommon sense than his superiors. From Basil Brush i always looked forward to a programme that Derek appeared in.Missed.
i loved him with Basil Brush. Boom boom
Very down to earth and grounded. Enjoyed this and the honest insight into some actors

Thank you SO much for posting this brilliant & heart-warming documentary. Mr Fowlds recounting his Mum opening the letter from RADA about his scholarship made me cry! I can now watch this whenever I wish - I'm watching it on Talking Pictures TV right now :0)
Same here. You could see he misses her so much.
I can hear his lungs wheezing :-(
