This was one of RCA’s finest AM radio, using Octal tubes. Unique is the phono jack to go with my 9eY 45 Rpm record player. I like the huge single speaker. Who needs stereo! I cut my teeth in radio repair on a chassis like this , back in the 50’s. Golden pins were a mark of radio shack.I like the bulky chassis. It’s got a bad filter cap. Typical problem.

RCA Victor sold a lot of these radios and part of that popularity was due to the fact it was made to be a companion for the RCA Victor 45 RPM little changers as it has an RCA Jack. Many of the advertisements of the time would show the two together and indeed they sold like "hotcakes". The radio plays much better than one would assume an "All American Five" radio could produce. The Volume, receptivity and overall sound quality is very good and it lives up to its' popularity. The tubes are easy to find and it is an easy radio for a qualified technician to work on. It always gets attention because of the large golden fins over the large speaker in the front of the radio. The Bakelite is fragile and the imitation paper overlay on the front seems to have held up well on most of these sets.

Free dead millipede with every set, a novel marketing angle.

I tapped on the giant millipede with a pencil, and it bolted into the garage, where it flipped my mom's Nissan Rogue over.
