  • Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani says that the reduction in headcount in the information technology (IT) sector is due to a slowdown in discretionary spending, not Artificial Intelligence (AI).
He believes AI can be transformational for India's digital public infrastructure, such as Aadhaar and UPI.
In an interview with CNBC-TV18, he discussed the potential of AI in India and addressed concerns about its impact on jobs.
Nilekani explained that AI has immense potential to enhance services like education, healthcare, and agriculture, and highlights ongoing projects such as Bhashini and AI4Bharat, which aim to make AI a digital public good.

Nandan - First ask your friend Narayan to stop deducting charity money towards Sudha from an already pathetic monthly salary of 25 thousand rupees to engineering graduates. Its a bloody joke to eat 99 % commission from client dollars and demand 70 hours per week work from such talented Indian techies.

Ai automation requires large language models.. It requires huge power, processor and servers, Which we do not have. Better create a large scale training centre and make use of the large youth population. We cannot compete with automation, since Google and Microsoft will do a better job in that..

    So will automation.
    There's no underground water.
So no jobs, no food ( very less food) for at least 1 billion population.
Overpopulation is the biggest devil...You cannot imagine how much pain it will give to all middleclass & poor people.
We have crossed all limits long back even no child policy will not help now.
    Hunger deaths are inavitable.
