Please Desmond Decker and the aces:
"Israelites" is a song written by Desmond Dekker and Leslie Kong that became a hit for Dekker's group, Desmond Dekker & The Aces,[2] reaching the top of the charts in numerous countries in 1969. Sung in Jamaican creole, some of the song's lyrics were not readily understood by many British and American listeners at the time of its release.[3] Despite this, the single was the first UK reggae #1 and AMONG THE FIRST TO REACH THE US TOP TEN (peaking at #9).[4] It combined the Rastafarian religion with rude boy concerns,[5] to make what has been described as a "timeless masterpiece that knew no boundaries".[6]

I also highly recommend Peter Tosh's Stepping Razor and Legalize It. And for me, the deepest song Bob wrote, Redemption Song. There are so many Bob Marley songs you can do almost any one and get a great song. A couple more I like are Coming In From The Cold and Real Situation. To discover a whole bunch more great reggae artists I recommend the soundtracks of the films The Harder They Come and Rockers!. The remastered version of the original Legend greatest hits compilation is rightfully one of the biggest selling albums of all time. (There is a version that switches the singles to album versions, which are often lesser mixes.)
Legend has sold 12 million copies in the US and 25 million worldwide. I believe it's the biggest selling reggae album ever.
This song is flawless, and the production is pristine. There is so much in there, and you can hear it all. It sounds effortless. It is recorded joy. Though the misheard lyrics I thought he sang are actually sweeter than the actual lyrics.
    "We'll share the shelter
    Of my single bed"
    I thought it was:
    "We'll share the shelter
    Of my single name"
Random note. The female singers are The I-Threes. Rita Marley (Bob's wife), Judy Mowatt, and Marcia Griffith. You are absolutely familiar with her. In 1983, she recorded a cover of a Bunny Wailer (formerly of Bob Marley and the Wailers) song called "Electric Boogie." It was remixed in 1989 as......"The Electric Slide." There is no way you haven't danced to that.

The world needs more Bob Marley. If only there was a way to subliminally transmit his tunes to world leaders in their sleep - each and every night... in their single bed.

Tragic that Bob Marley died of melanoma. What a great artist and humanitarian. He drove a BMW and used to joke that it stood for Bob Marley & Wailers. Now for my reaction request. Please react to Benjamin Tod singing Using Again. Tod spent much of his life hopping train cars and traveling around the country, as well as battling alcohol, heroin and other addictions. Those experiences and then coming clean infuse his songs with a really personal quality.

"Stir It Up", "Three Little Birds", "One Love"...these are some of Marley's songs that carry the same transcendent, almost spiritual quality that characterized the Rocksteady music that reggae grew out of..."Sweet Sensation", "It's My Delight", "Rivers of Babylon" by the Melodians..."Many Rivers to Cross" by Jimmy Cliff..."Israelites" by Desmond Dekker..."Freedom Street" by Ken Boothe..."Gave You My Love" by Delroy Wilson...

When I was 17, we traveled with three friends from Barcelona to Ibiza, with the ferry, we had two Vespa scooters to move around the island. In those days Marley was the top, there were no walkmans and today's technology but in all the beach bars and terraces Marley flooded him with his reage hits. Is this love, redemption song, waiting in vain, no woman no cry. All mixed with the last traces of hippies made for a vacation to remember for a lifetime.
Listening to Marley everything lights up and the sun shines brighter.
    Keep on rocking ❤

Soul Rebel, Natural Mystic, Redemption Song, Could You Be Loved...so many. Fell in love with reggae back in 1991 in california when i worked for some jamaicans. Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru are good bands too. Reggae music is supposed to uplift, it is a staple of rastafarianism religion. Whenever I need to to put my soul in a better place, reggae is the music i go to.

    Futher suggestions:
Jimmy Cliff "The Harder They Come "
    Desmond Dekker "Israelites"
    Stevie Wonder "Jammin'"

No serious Classic Rock, Pop or Blues fan who built a record/CD collection back in the day could call their collection complete without owning Bob Marley's "Legend" album. It IS his greatest hits package. It's the best way to have the greatest representation of Reggae music just by owning 1 disc. There are so many other great Reggae records but none with as much passion and power as Bob's. If you ever see one of the concert videos be sure to notice how clean the performances are. Bob was a perfectionist. Once you get through the "Legend" record next would be going for "Deep Bob". You can start with the boxed set "Redemption Songs". You will discover many great tracks that many people overlook especially the "Early Bob". Tracks like "Mr. Brown" and "One Cup of Coffee" are rarely heard gems in America.

One of the coolest things about older music is all the sounds you’re hearing are real instruments yet it sounds so unique and new. There’s a lot of other bands that manage to accomplish this but bob marley was and is the man.

The instruments used in this song include electric guitars, bass guitar, keyboards, drums, percussion instruments, horns. The only indigenous instrument from the Caribbean is the steel pan which originates from Trinidad. Reggae music from Jamaica utilises the same instruments used in r'n'b and rock.

Bob Marley is definitely one of the greatest ever, and this song is one of my favorites by him. Another one I could suggest is "Jammin'," one of his last hits before he died.
