  • One of our popular items at seyberts.com is the Rubber Cue Grip (Wrap). We've received questions on how to install the cue grip on cues, hopefully, this short video will explain the simple process to apply the wrap. (Associated Links Below)

It took me 2 try’s but it worked perfect for me. Did it absolutely dry, no water no powder. Thanks for the video.

Good video on how to put this wrap on. Mine had a brand name on the bottom of the wrap and I had to take the wrap off after the first try, as the lettering was not down at the cue butt. Had to re-install with the lettering at the top of the cue wrap when initialing starting to roll it down. That worked in getting the letteriing at the bottom of the cue when finished rolling. Again, thanks for a very informative video.

I tried the method recommended above and it was a very frustrating no go. Someone earlier in this comment section suggested soapy water on both the inside of the rubber grip and outside of the cue stick. Worked like a charm once it dried and still does. However, he didn't think it would work on a butt that was wrapped in Irish linen. I don't like an Irish linen grip but just bought a cue I like a lot despite the Irish linen grip. It took a lot of effort, but, by wetting both the inside of the rubber grip and the butt, especially the linen, with very soapy water, I was able to get it on perfectly. I used a hair dryer on the rubber to evaporate any soapy water that remained on the linen underneath. I weighed the butt before and after drying and gained no weight. And the rubber grip gives the best feel I know next to cork. Hope this helps.

if the grip comes short, you can roll it up from the bottom and instead of rolling it up all the way, go 3 quarters and back down. this stretches the rubber and you'd be surprised how much longer a regular grip goes. works both ways

can you switch a rubber wrap to leather?

If you pay money or know how to do it, requires custom work, or it'll feel wierd and not really work. The leather needs a groove to sit in, and if theres a rubber grip, then the cue was originally wrapless which means the groove need to be created.

It's not about the look, it's the feel. It's rubber has more grip then a linen wrap, and is made for cues that don't have a wrap. I personally like rubber wraps, not these ones ones that are made for the actual cue they just feel so much better to hold. This replicates the feel for a cue that has no wrap. When i played with my linen wrap, i would wear a glove that had grip on the palms because that grip is more important to me. I also wear a glove on my bridge hand. Looks stupid but feels right. That's why Earl Strickland wraps his cue in tape. It looks stupid but feels right to him, and he's one of the best ever. The thing is i don't want to wear a glove on my shooting hand, cause it inteferes with chalking unless i use my bridge hand, which I don't when I wear a glove
