"I spent 50 meter... and now I'm dead."
Usually how my matches go.
From my experience, when you land YRC your next move is also converted into an unblockable counter-hit, because the opponent seems to be physically incapable of doing anything but hitting buttons after having their turn stolen.
This early into the game, yeah.
had no idea what dead angle was and hit up the glossary to understand that. its so nice that it exists bless infil
What if Honzo was actually Tokkido this whole time?
real tokido was the friends we made along the way
Nah bruh thats Latif 💯 💀 👌
they gotta play for the color now
Appreciate this man, maybe this will keep me in 10f lmao.
Forget Blizting Blitz, YRC YRC is my new friend.
I legit thought it basically reset the interaction to neutral. Didn't realize at all the user actually gets frame advantage. Will definitely start experimenting more.
Same!
I mean, you're spending 50% meter for it, it BETTER give you some advantage lol
It's like using Vanish defensively in DBFZ, except this gives you even more frame advantage
@@Reydriel The advantage is getting our of pressure. Even then you can still be punished hard if you're predictable with it
When I play Potem against Millia, YRC is like the only option that can give me some times to breath.
This is better than dead angle, really
I kinda liked how each Dead Angle had its own hitbox, but I can see why they'd change that for Strive
disagree. remember baiken's jump cancelable dead angle (that no one uses)?

After trying for awhile to get comfortable with pressing 3 inputs for RC I felt like it was cheating when I found the option to bind it to one button.
The macro is there for a reason
It's not cheating if anyone has the option to do it, bind that shit all day, same with dash and psych burst.
Crazy part is the macro is actually BETTER in this game than previous GGs. In prior GGs, the macro was specifically the P K and S buttons, so if you wanted to RC, say bandit bringer which requires you to hold the K input for a bit, but you forget to let go of the K before you press the macro, you don't get an RC. In this game, you can RC a held button special like Night Raid Vortex without any issues if you haven't let go of the button.
@@Espiofan265 the macro in +r felt better for me imo, maybe it's because it was one button but for rc, then i could hold back for a faultless, then i could press dust for a burst, it just felt so efficient haah
@@ryanvillena7807 you can do that in strive, you'd have to setup a macro on a different application on your pc but it's definitely possible
Thank you for the video, I thought YRC was underpowered for a Dead Angle replacement but guess I just wasn't being brave enough after using it.
Can u do a guide on how to stop people from escaping or jumping out of your pressure as a attacker and how to escape pressure as a defender?
Check out mission mode, there is a section on stopping people from jumping out
Start doing delaying ur strings and you’ll catch them if they start to press something or using plus moves to frame trap
Like best option to punishing a jump read? That would be a character specific situation I'd have to presume.
Now maintaining pressure and adapting to the defensive options the opponent takes comes with time. 👍
If you didn’t believe this video or want practical application, watch the top 3 of the first GGST LEVO. Noon/Tempest both use YRC very well against Sonic’s Leo pressure
Honestly super helpful. I’ve been playing Potemkin, and getting out of corners has been tough until I learn match ups. I feel like YRC will help so much with that now that I understand how it works. Especially against characters like Nago that make it hard to get my turn in.
I never knew this. As this is my first guilty Gear all your videos have been super helpful. Thanks for the amazing content!
Very helpful, especially because I forgot YRC was the new dead angle.
Thanks for sharing the info!
I've been neglecting yrc because I didn't know how to use it until now.
Why use defense when I have nice buttons to hit?
Good info. I've yet to pull off a YRC. Used to do Dead Angle okay in previous games.
Guess I can try using it sometime that seems useful.
just, be sure the YRC will hit, I've been YRC'ed and still got away with it bcause I'm Pot and have long range
What's the deal with the combo counter being purple at 2:18 ? The only other time I saw this color for the combo counter was in your clip against Koji
That means you could’ve blocked but you didn’t and got hit
I believe this is similar to when the combo counter goes gray in xrd which signifies you missed an opportunity to tech out of the combo (or you missed blocking opportunity).
When it's that color it's because it isn't a true combo (YRC into any button in this case). The opponent can block after getting hit by the YRC in this case but is getting hit because they're attempting to jump or press a button. Hope this helps!
Means there's a gap in the combo so opponent actually could've blocked/hit a button
If the combo counter turns that color it is a "black beat combo", meaning that it isn't a true combo and the opponent has ways to get out of it. Hope this helped :)
it doesnt guarantee a hit if they immediately block right?
My favorite thing to do is landing YRC into kara buster... I love eating paint.
Don't Eat The Yellow Roman Cancel.
I'll be honest I had no idea why you would use it. At first glance it looked like a mini-burst that costs 50 meter instead of your burst, I had no idea about how since it doesn't knock them back too far and leaves you plus it gives you a chance to apply pressure. It's not really the get out of jail button like burst it
I didn't know how plus it was, but I still wish it knocked down.
Thx!
lol if i go to the tags for this video it says deadangle
What about the scenario of yrc hitting someone airborne? Can you not setup an offense or do you have to go back into an even situation?
I suppose it's character specific, depending on the angle or where they are. I assume someone like Millia and Nago could get a big ol combo, characters like Sol, Ky or Giovanna get a DP, and then characters like Zato get nothing.

Can you do a fast YRC? Will it be safer than a regular YRC?
But is it still the same nowadays?
I dont understand Roman cancel and I've been playing guilty gear for 19 years
tyty!
That was a cool video and all, but man... I just can't help but vibe to I-no's theme.
Still though, it's good to know that I should be hitting on S and HS for sure. But not on P and K, considering they are fast. Though I think K will depend.
It can be baited using their own RC and possibly an invincible super, so just because they hit slash/HS doesnt necessarily mean its safe. But those are big brain tactics and the vast majority of matches this wont happen.
@@davidburke4101 that's possible to do when the YRC goes off? Because I feel like it instantly interrupts anything the moment it comes out.
@@hickknight YRC does have startup, shown by thr fact that a light attack can recover while trying to use it. As such, your own RC and invincible moves, can be done to beat it
Brisa Rue
So that's the blue combo for, thought fafnir would give you a combo when you prc it
Nice stuff! Thank you!
I watched the video. I still don't think YRC is ever worth using really, or at the very least it's SUPER situational. As you went over, using it can be risky because you're highly punishable on block, and the reward for landing it just doesn't justify the meter cost; sure, in most instance it will let you steal a turn when you're in disadvantage and that can be valuable, for sure... but if you look at that compared to say, a red RC or an Overdrive it just feels hard for me to envision many scenarios where that's how I want to spend my meter.
It's definitely not as useful as the other RCs, but the ability to steal the opponents turn is still pretty good, especially if it's against a mix-up heavy character. You just have to be careful when you use it, just like with burst.
I've kind of used red RC as a bandaid for bad combo routes, so it feels like a waste at times. I think it's more useful to use as a hit confirm in situations where a significant hit confirm isn't possible. Think 5[D] or a far ranged 2S.
YRC on the other hand I always enjoy using especially if I'm near the corner being heavily pressured. Never really view it as a waste.
is this how your buttons are layed out/bound? i mean the display on the bottom left ofcourse.
I don't believe so. From what I can tell, how you arrange the buttons have no impact on command display.
like a mini burst?
Please sir more tutorials
It's basically a cheap burst.
Kind of, but it allows you to immediately start pressure if it connects rather than just blow the opponent away
Getting tips from a sol player ill pass
How do you proc YRC?
RC whilst blocking
RC while in blockstun
