In this episode, Coyote is on a solo mission to be eaten alive by invisible monsters: CHIGGERS! These microscopic creatures are the larva stage of harvest mites, and in the larva stage they're so tiny they can't be seen with the human eye! But that doesn't stop them from feasting upon unsuspecting mammals that encounter a swarm.
Coyote will try his hardest to become a bug bite buffet by venturing barefoot into the forest!

I worked outside running a Lawn Maintenance business in Tennessee for about 15 years. I have been bitten by Chiggers more times than I can count. Usually around the ankles, shins thighs, and behind my knees. They itch SO BAD. It feels so good to scratch them, but you can’t stop scratching them. They make a mosquito bite itch seem like NOTHING! And I have gotten them with full length pants on.
They have them in Arkansas too and I literally have scars from those things 😭 they SUCK! And same! Usually I’ll be in pants and long sleeves to prevent as many bites as possible but it rarely works 100%
I’m from Kansas and they were the bane of my existence why I was a kid
His camera crew wanted no part of this one! He’s finally gone crazy.😂
Whoever came up with the name for this bug definitely knew what they were doing

Only a true sneaker head would keep one abandoned shoe on a beach
I still can't believe such a shoe is just on an abandoned island.
@@EternallyBlu LOL Abandoned island til the one shot panned and you could see a parking lot full of cars and some utility building
@@Gigabyte1002 I did not see that part. Makes sense. Though, you gotta wonder how that happens.
@@Gigabyte1002 Maybe not abandoned, but tell me.. who leaves such a nice shoe on a rocky beach like that?
If Coyote would have kept looking around where he found that shoe, he WOULD have found the other one- on the body that some Murderer dumped there that was originally wearing the pair!🙂
I've always seen those little red bugs crawling on stones, concrete curbs etc. Never thought they could do any harm.
Those are mites while similar they are not the same as chiggers
think there either concert mites or clover mites either way the are annoying lmao
I used to squish em a lot as a kid
Called em blood bugs bc they literally look like little dots of blood when you squish them
Make sure to take cold or at least room temperature showers. Heat will irritate the bites, and have in some cases caused extreme swelling. Also if you don't have any cream like chiggerX, then a cold press or ice pack works alright. Remember to never put an ice directly on your skin, and instead have a buffer layer of a rag or something.
Thank you!
Wish I had had this advice earlier this year lol
i'm sorry what.

What
Chiggers rhymes with n-

Coyote is one of us. Imagines dinosaurs when canoeing through the swamp and recognizes a foam Penny when he sees it derelict on the shore. 😂

If you want to find chiggers easily just go anywhere in the United States below the northern regions. They are in grass during the spring and summer and early fall and they leave you with the most intense unending itch for a week.
Okay Coyote being a sneaker head secured a lifetime subscription from me 💪🏼
I've been bitten many times, especially as a kid playing in the woods. I've believed my entire life that they burrow into your skin. Never too old to learn something
Oh yeah. I have seen full on arguments on YT about that. People swear they burrow in and to use various liquids like alcohol to kill the embedded bug. Complete nonsense. Folks love to hold on to their "stories"
I was always told the same. People told me to suffocate them in their “burrows” with nail polish remover.
Some do burrow, at least the ones from the south do and I've used nail polish on the bumps as well!
@@madesicc2 No. They don't. Complete myth. One of the oldest.

Thanks for sharing. This reminds me of a time my wife and I stopped at Tyler State Park in East Texas for lunch. We had been driving for a long time so I started to walk around the edge of a pond. A couple days later after returning home I broke out with a rash from my knees to my hips. It was very uncomfortable for several days.
Seriously though, thank you for explaining that they don’t burrow into skin. I have been deeply afraid of these creatures for a long while because of that, and this video alleviated my fear immensely.
They actually do. then they plant larvae inside you.
@@anton1949 no they don’t, it’s just a myth
@@Sleepy_Slytherin Do some research, it's true.
@@anton1949 i did, it isn’t true. It’s a literal myth.
@@anton1949 Y’know what, to prove I have researched here are some quotes from my research!
“Once attached to a host (you, the victim), they may remain for three to five days before dropping off. Contrary to folk lore, they do not burrow into the skin, nor do they lay eggs in your skin.”
“Chigger bites can be treated at home by using an over-the-counter anti-itch cream like calamine lotion and/or taking antihistamines to reduce itching. Chiggers don't burrow into your skin, so there is no need for any other at-home remedies.”
“Chiggers do not burrow into and remain inside the skin, contrary to popular belief. Chiggers inject digestive enzymes into the skin and feed upon the decomposed tissue.”
“What's kind of cool is that chiggers do not actually bite us. Likewise, they do not burrow into our skin, and they do not suck our blood.”
“Chiggers do not burrow under your skin, as many people believe, nor do they feed on animal blood.”
“Unlike scabies mites, chiggers don’t burrow into the skin. Like mosquitoes, chiggers pierce the skin and release a digestive enzyme that later causes human skin to itch.”
“Chigger larvae do not burrow into the skin, nor suck blood. “
I suggest you do research yourself. Simply search “Do chiggers actually burrow?”

The bugs are not that dirty
When I would go hunting with my dad as a kid, we had a sock full of sulfur. Chiggers and other tick-like bugs hate sulfur. So before going into any tall grass, we would smack the sock around our ankles and legs and enough of the sulfur would find it’s way through the sock and onto us to keep the chiggers away.
A nice little life hack if you ever need to go into tall grass in the summer especially
Edit: Since everyone is talking about it in the replies, I gave my dad a call to answer some questions… it was just straight sulfur, but powdered down (pls don’t smack yourself with rocks😭) & was purchased in a Home Depot’s gardening section. This was over a decade ago so I’m not sure if Home Depot still sells it or not, but if you can find it at another gardening store, comment where you found it! Also, a thicker sock is better as long as some of it can still come through the sock. & make sure it’s a sock you never wanna use again & only use it on clothes you never wanna use outside of hunting or outdoors activities cuz sulfur smells godawful and will get stuck to those clothes for years. And WHATEVER YOU DO!!!! Do not make the mistake I made and wash the sulfur covered pants you used the sock on with all of your other everyday clothes 😭 every piece of clothing that I owned smelled like sulfur for a month straight. I had to go buy all new clothes and get rid of the old ones cuz they were smelly beyond repair lmfao. Hope this helped y’all. 👍 be careful out there

It was the most unbearable itching since i had no idea how to cure it. i spent 2 weeks in itching agony.
Almost sounds like chickenpox
usually jus a shower and washing the area really well should fix it lol

Cover the bite mark with clear fingernail polish. In a couple days it will be gone. Chiggers actually use your body to incubate larvae.
It's awful!! Hot shower intensified my itch. My dermatologist prescribed me something to eliminate the itch.

I’ve used chiggerex for years for mosquito bites. They’ve had the same bottle for decades. I don’t know what they put in it but it works great. Mosquitoes love me and this gives me some temporary relief. So yes, it works on all bug bites, not just chiggers.
Just hearing the ingredients it doesn't sound very effective. Benzocaine is 10 times less effective than lidocaine. Meaning this chiggerex 10% benzocaine stuff is as strong as 1% lidocaine. You can pretty easily find 4% lidocaine in stores and get 10% online without a prescription. Also it should have way stronger anti-itch stuff. There isn't even any hydrocortizone. You can literally get dog anti itch spray with 1% lidocaine and hydrocortizone together.
