  • I am super excited to finally get my hands on this helicopter for X-Plane 11. This is not a tutorial nor a comprehensive review but more of a "First" look type video. If you love helicopters and are on the fence about the Nimbus UH1 I would recommend to really look at this option closely to add to your hangar.

    They should implement rotor sag. Looks odd when it's parked to have the rotors completely rigid.

    I don't know whether you're using it but I recommend you check the "use experimental flight model" in the xplane options because apparently that's when you get all the improvements being implemented for the flight model instead of the classic one that everyone is accustomed to (apparently that's the reason that's the default). It also affects helicopters of course.
    Really enjoyed the video

    Thank you for the excellent video. I found the sounds to be very good but watching the engine spool up from outside view, the Rotor Slap was obnoxious, as you said to heavy on the base. It was better inside but still needs some work. It is a beautiful rendering of the HUEY. Nimbus has made an excellent product that I feel will only get better and better with time. Well done Sir.

    I fly the Airbus also. The 727 is still my favorite, but the 'bus has grown on me. I bought the UH-1 cyclic and collective from Komodo for flying the DCS Huey and wow, what a difference! I bought the collective first since that really is a heli-specific control. That one piece of hardware really made the difference in immersion, and in making it easier to fly. I too am a fixed-wing guy, with exactly ZERO real rotor craft experience. Thanks for the review! I'm going to the .org right now to purchase this aircraft. All the best to you!

    I'm brand new to Sim flying I just started killing myself in the DCS World UH-1 (well at first) If I may ask you: your throttle binding and collective settings. Are you using them split apart from each other? I have the same setup (Joystick and Throttle and Rudder) and your the only person that has shared this stick setup. I put my throttle on the Throttle 1's back button your pinky finger lays on. I am under the opinion this is always set to full twist left side open on the collective and never used after engine start setup before flight. ( Please set me straight on this: am I wrong?) My hands are so wide I cant split the two for use at this time.(Still learning lol) I Love this Video Thank You. I am having a very hard time right now at the landing decent keeping the proper -5 setting. Landing a UH-1 IMO is nothing more then a very precision and controlled Crash lol At this time all I can do is a Controlled short Skid slide landing. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again love the video. This is the most enjoyable thing I have ever did on a computer lol it's a killer time in VR. (killing yourself in VR is still enjoyable too) lol

      So once you have the n2 set to 100% you shouldn't have to manipulate the throttle again unless you're shutting down, doing some sort of auto or failure of like the governor. Think of like a lawnmower, the rotor attempts to spin at 100% for all normal flight regimes. The huey has a governor which will increase fuel as power demand is added (pulling collective) and reduce fuel as power is reduced to help curb overspeed although you can still droop (reduce the rpm) the rotor through rapid uncoordinated collective pulls or overspeed via the opposite action. I hope this helps.

      @@MarksGuitarLounge If you're sliding on your approach, your rate of closure is probably too fast. I don't know how you are practicing but if its standard traffic patterns when you turn on final maintain your intended landing point in bottom 1/3 of the windscreen, figure out an angle that makes the most sense as you get more practiced. And you maintain that point vertically there with the collective, and then you keep your self at a "slow walking" pace in so ideally you should be gradually decelerating as you approach and that's controlled with the cyclic. If you can figure that out your approaches regardless of angle should drastically improve but first figure out your rate of closure and only rate of closure is controlled with cyclic, and intended landing point is done with your collective.

    What’s the Huey used for? Besides military....

    • @RK-he9dv
      @RK-he9dv Před 4 lety

      The Bell 204 and 205 are the civilian versions of the UH-1 Iroquois single-engine military helicopter of the Huey family of helicopters. They are type-certificated in the transport category and are used in a wide variety of applications, including crop dusting, cargo lifting and aerial firefighting - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell_204/205

    • @MD-on9fi
      @MD-on9fi Před 2 lety

      The UH-1 hasn't been used in US Army roles since the 90's and early 2000's with national guard and reserve aviation units. The US Marine Corps still uses a UH1Z venom. It has two new engines, new avionics and four blades. Civil agencies use them for forestry firefighting, medical evacuation, and aerial survey.

  • @mrthomaslaux1
    @mrthomaslaux1 Před 4 lety +1

    Why only 2 blades? Others have 4

    • @RK-he9dv
      @RK-he9dv Před 4 lety +1

      Most civilian 204's and 205's have semi-rigid 2 blade systems. Heli's have 3 main types rigid, semi-rigid, and fully articulated. All three offer distinct advantages and disadvantages, but generally speaking semi-rigid systems are cheaper and easier to maintain while offering generally good handling characteristics. The newer Bell 412 has a 4 bladed system. I'm guessing in the game people wanted to go with what they associate the uh-1 with?

  • @ellonysman
    @ellonysman Před 4 lety +1

    Why does a Bell 412 have so many gauges etc?🤷🏻‍♂️ This Huey is big like a 412 but less gauges toggles etc??🤔🤔🤔

    • @timofoerster629
      @timofoerster629 Před 4 lety +1

      first, 412 has two engines instead of just one for the Huey. This doubles engine monitoring gauges (temperatures, rpm, load etc.)
      second, 412 is much newer and features many (mostly electronic) systems the Huey didn't have, like autopilot, stability augmentation systems, GPS/NAV, sensors (like, depending on how its equipped, infrared, weather radar etc.)

    You can tell you are a fixed wing pilot. Cyclic is pronounced psyclick not sicklic.
    Every time you mispronounce it. It's like fingernails going down a chalkboard.
    I'm a UH1-H/V pilot and mechanic with 9000+ flight hours and 26 years on the maintenance side.
    So, I ask you to do the World a favor.
    Learn how to pronounce the name of the flight controls.

      @V1Sim  Před 4 lety +10

      Kim Dossett not sure if your trolling or really that triggered over the fact that you don’t like the way my pronunciation is of the cyclic. Since you are apparently Gods gift to aviation and know everything there is, let me assist you in the workings of modern day CZcams videos, there’s a mute button on the bottom left of the video, if you press that you don’t have to hear the “nails grinding on a chalkboard “ or what’s even better is you can kindly hit the X on the top right of your screen and leave altogether if you are so upset.

      Kim .. what a pointless rude comment and what a pompous show of superiority by experience (which is nothing to be proud of). Aviators are humble people, how come 9000+ hours haven't taught you that lesson yet? P.S. I have twice your flight time but I never ever did put that on the table. From now on I'll alway call it Sicklic in your honor.
