What you are saying is just like a person seeing a mountain from its base, when the same is looked from its top the picture entirely changes. The story what you build in your mind by just seeing one side gets reproduced/.revamped multiple times.
Don't get me wrong as I'm sarcastic to your questions and doubts, your points are similar to the story of 'Six blind and the Elephant'. There are irrefutable evidences for the movements of Plates and its current state. To quote one: relevant to Kerala is the Vakalai (Warkala) Sandstone Formation. These Sandstone Beds have striking Geochemical similarities to atleast two Colored Sands found in Mauritius. The Deccan Traps(Volcanic eruption) is not similar but exactly the same what we have in Vidarba region of Maharastra and Mauritius.
It is way hard to imagine the scale and reconstruct these massive movements of Plates for a common man.
