- Hey there everyone this is my first ever video review...for anything ever!
I received my Play Arts Kai Rise of the Tomb Raider Lara Croft in the mail today, so I'd thought I'd share my thoughts on it.
Let me know how I did and any improvements I can make. Thanks for watching!
I ordered mine from the Square Enix warehouse about 3 days ago for £99.99 . The delivery status still says "Initiated" Can't wait to get it :)
Sweet, that's what I wanted: A Lara Croft figure in the size of the Metal Gear ones! I'll display her next to Quiet and then those two can watch over my home.
Wow love it can't wait to get mine.
great review! i will be posting a comparison video between the bootleg and real version soon!
I got mine today. One thing I really like and it's a minor thing for most, but a huge thing for me is that they did away with the Velcro tabs that hold the box flap shut. They have been replaced with magnets. I like this because the older PAK figures I have, the velcro tabs eventually tear peal off from the box and stay stuck to its other half of the tab. I don't know if the magnets are a new thing since I don't buy every PAK figure that comes out. But for me, this is a first and it's a step up in my eyes. FYI, good review on your part.
please make a video showing the articulation of this lara croft action figure.
I like the figure. But the only complaint about it is the height. She could have been an inch taller than the old one. But still a good figure.
I saw in another video that part of her leg comes off is that true and does her pony tail come out really easy just out of curious it because I'm very particular with my figures
Part of the leg comes off? Not that I can see. Do you mean does it fall off or loose? Mine doesn't/isn't. My figure is pretty sturdy, though I can't speak for others.
To answer about the hair, it isn't loose or anything. It won't just fall off from posing or shaking the figure. You have to pull it off. It's mainly for ease of posing and placing the bow on her back.
Ok thanks so much for the reply I'm debating on getting her
+Ally Drash No problem. For me, it's the best Lara Croft figure ever released, but is a bit pricey.
If i buy it at squarw enix store is it sure that i eill received the original version or there is a possibility that i treceived the fake one with the weird face?
Yeah you should be good ordering from the official SE site. Many of the places that sell it super cheap like on eBay or shady websites are the places you need to watch out for.
Where did you get this figure? I've seen some real low priced ones from China on ebay, but I wonder of their quality.
I bought mine from amiami.com, but they've sold out. On ebay, it's best to buy from sellers who show and mention the figure is unopened in its original box. Also the ones showing Japan as their location, unless the seller rating is like 99%. No box ones are normally the bootleg figures. The price may be attractive, but the quality is normally crap (Got screwed by one in the past, thankfully I was able to fix it).
Unless you plan to paint it, I'd go official. There is also Square Enixs online merchandise store.
Bigbadtoystore.com also has the figure, though it's only up for preorder, so it won't ship immediately.
Thanks for replying so fast, I got mine ordered from Sideshow Collectibles, but recently found some on ebay for half the price and like you said is very attractive, however I'm concerned of their quality. I think you are right though, the bootlegs or knock offs may come with some disappointments. You helped me make a better decision thanks man, I'm going with the authentic safe buy, sticking with Sideshow :)
+is21rocks No problem. I can understand wanting to get the best deal, especially with Play Arts figures. They can be hit or miss sometimes from what I've seen. This one turned out great though, especially since Lara hasn't had a great action figure in a while. Hope you enjoy yours!
avoid china they make cheap copies using official images to promote them
I buy the figures from the Square Enixe Store (don't know if they deliver in the US)
store.eu.square-enix.com
The reason her hair is like that is because she grew mire hair since last game and they added like a blow in the wind touch and for exposed joint is for black rubber band
More nit mire lol
What I meant by not liking the hair, is how they did the articulation. I don't like that rubber band is part of the ball joint. It's shouldn't move with the whole thing because it looks weird to me.
Atlier well your right they should have stuck with the same hair
You should put more light from front (to face) no behind.
I'll definitely try to do better in the future. Thanks for the watch.
Can you take some cool pics of her and upload it as a video? That would be great. And how tall is she?
Hey sorry for the late replay, she is a smidge over 10 inches tall.
Here is where I did a written review with pics.

watch out for the camera focus
Nice figure but those size really mind boogling me. New PAK looks weird posing together with old, they are much bigger
Agreed, though it's mainly because they decided to go with larger sizes, when they started doing the Advent Children figures. It killed me when I bought the PAK cast of FFXIII and found out Fang was shorter than Vanille...I have to pose Vanille all weird now.
Figures in each series, now, are close to being in scale with each other. I do wish Lara was a tad shorter, but she would be taller than most PAK female figures using her character stats from reboot. So her being about Cloud's height is probably correct.
On amazon I saw 1 for 400 pounds and I got mine for 35
Well that person is just being ridiculous with their pricing as they normally run for way less than that. The one you bought, however, is a bootleg. Play Art Kai figures are never that cheap.
Wth 108!!! I had it for 35 with shipping
Niek Grijzenhout because you probably bought a Chinese bootleg. A legit one is never gonna be that cheap. Hopefully the one you bought will be decent and not fall apart like the majority of them do. It's gonna have a crappy paint job, be made from cheaper plastics, and the joints may not even work. I've had a bootleg MGS Quiet, Hatsune Miku, and a Storm Trooper. Every single one of them had parts that broke.
Atlier wow i never knew there were things like fakes in action figure industry. It looks really legit and similair to yours so idk maybe it is real?
I got it from here : Kijk eens wat ik heb gevonden op AliExpress
s.aliexpress.com/7fQbQ7bQ It used to be €50 but its on sale. Looks legit right?
Wth i did some research and whoa im so impressed that china was able to make such a good fake! Honestly I dont collect action figures Im just a fan of the game and it sits on my desk. The differences are really small, the original has better articulation and a better paint job but damn for a fake it still looks amazing. I dont have the money to spend on a real one so if i knew it was fake I probably still went for it anyway 😂
Niek Grijzenhout yeah that site sells bootleg items from China. That's why the prices for everything are lower.
If you are happy with the bootleg, that's all that matters. Consider yourself lucky
though, because the majority of Play Arts Kai bootlegs have SERIOUS problems. Its ridiculous how they even keep some of them together till you receive them. Sometimes a good one appears, but it's not often.
I know the legit ones are on the pricey side, but their quality usually reflects in the price.
