  • In this video I cover the most commonly asked questions I have received about engine swaps between the VQ35DE, VQ35HR, and an LSX. (LS1, LS2, and LS3)
For road or circuit you NEED and aluminum block for weight. Drag and Drift can use an iron block.

All good, allergies suck! Flonase basically cured mine, and they were terrible.
Awesome that you picked up a C6! I debated long and hard about a C5 back when I bought my ‘03 DE in ‘07, still prefer the Z but would have been swayed by the C6 if they were in budget at that time. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!

thanks for explaining why you've kept the DE! I've been wondering over the past couple months if it was worth ditching my rev up for an HR but I think I'll just stick with it now

You have done almost exactly what I have been planning and hoping to do: I continue to enjoy and modify my track-dedicated '04 350Z with the plans to add an LS3-powered C6 either Z51 or Grand Sport down the line (and keep both). My Z doesn't put down nearly as much hp as yours but I do plan on upgrading the cams as well at this point sooner rather than later.

Great video and amazing talking points man! I’m in the same boat and totally agree. The Z isn’t perfect but it’s a great car for the price point. Once you start dumping money into it you get into other chassis platforms territory price wise. Great pick on the C6 btw. 2 amazing cars.

It’s not just about the hp, it’s the torque and weight too. With just a ls1, you have a lot more low end torque. Plus, an aluminum 5.7 is about 420lbs with accessories. What’s a vq?. With a ls1, you’ll make roughly 360whp fbo. 400+ cammed. I have a 06 z, 11 Coyote and 04 gto ls1. A coyote would be the coolest and best but hardest to swap

I always wondered if the z's suspension could compensate for the extra weight an LS, or if this wouldn't drastically alter the weight distribution of the car. I've thought of selling my z and bumping up to C6 vette as well, but maybe in a year or two.Congrats on the vette though, sounds great!

    • @2THPWR
      @2THPWR  Před 3 lety +1

The LS swap also makes the weight distribution worse no matter what you do and I meant to add that in the video. It adds 50 lbs and that’s not ideal.

Advantages of an LS in a Z:
-Easy and cheap big power gains
    -Relatively same weight as VQ
    -torque4dayz
    -cheaper to maintain
    -cool factor
    Unspoken disadvantages:
-the actual swap parts price is pretty high
-more power != better track car
-a high revving LS is expensive
-most swap kits make the engine placement awkward for weight balance
    -VQ owners now hate you

@@christopherpuig12 electrical problems or problems with the ECU and getting things to work as they should would be more common. LS’s hate going around corners. Oil starvation is a problem and they tend to blow up unless they have a proper dry sump set up. It depends why you want to swap?
