Meeting Scandinavian History of the Viking Age: an interview with Dr Elizabeth Rowe

Dr Elizabeth Rowe talks about the part of the ASNC course which focuses on medieval Scandinavian history, describing the geographical range covered by the study of the Vikings in their homelands, not just as raiders in other lands, and highlighting why it is as important as ever to learn how to interpret the evidence of texts, objects, and archaeological discoveries. She introduces an eighth-century amulet of a valkyrie to show the fascination - and also the challenge - of studying such objects.
