Mine should arrive this week. I've been looking for a fitness watch WITHOUT a touchscreen for a long time now, as I find them to be a pain in the neck in wet weather when my wet cuff brushes the screen and causes it to select unwanted modes. I also like the 80's Casio vibe and the nice big time and step digits so I can easily see them without squinting or reaching for my glasses.
Hey Andy - there aren't too many options for such a smartwatch, so I very much hope that you will enjoy the Nexo.
Don't know why Casio doesn't do something like this. They are in the smartwatch market after all. (Although very expensive)

@Ady nah, they already released theirs. Though I will still be buying the amazefit over the G-Lide because Casio decided their square line wasn't worth the cost of a heart rate sensor.
i was thinking the same. imagine they introduce these features in a Casio ae1000 with 10 year battery that is also solar charged.
Well mine has arrived and so far I'm very happy. Easy to set up, no touchscreen, not too much info displayed at once. Good-looking and comfortable. I wish the CAPCHA during the sign up process was clearer though - pale green digits on a pale blue background overlaid with black dashes was not easy. I've just been out for my morning walk and the Neo counted my steps just as well as my old Omron. Happy!

@@chamrongchan3384 If you mean the ordinary 'time of day', it will set itself once you have downloaded the Zepp app to your mobile phone, created a (free) account and paired the watch to the phone. Make sure Bluetooth is switched on on your phone first. If it doesn't prompt you to pair, tell your phone to 'scan for devices' and it should go OK.

I just ordered a Casio WS1200H in dark blue. Check it out folks. It's a FISHING WATCH that can help you with fishing. It can be especially helpful because if a meteorite hits earth and we're all in chaos and you can no longer head over to the grocery to buy food, you may need to go fishing. Pragmatic watch.

Nice video and good points. I ordered mine today. Been thinking which one to get Neo or the Mi Band 5. Yes the Mi Band 5 has a lot of features but it just looks so feminine to me. I'll get back when i got mine.
Yeah, I also think the Neo looks cooler, and it's pretty nice mixture between oldschool design and modern features
Got the neo watch today and very happy only thins I don't really like is strap feels a bit cheap and could do with vibrating mode. Big up from Scotland 👍

This is actually alot closer to a "Hybrid" Smartwatch rather than a full feature smartwatch and for 40 bucks that cant be beat.

In the end I got a Casio W800h with inverted screen. But still I think I am going to get a couple of these watches for my parents.
The Casio has much better quality.
I've been a G-Shock wearer since LONG before smartphones came along, but I think I'll be getting this over the G-Shock GXB-100 since Casio decided not to give it a heart rate sensor. The GBX-100 looked so promising. This NEO should carry over until Casio figures out how to tackle a square "smart" watch.
Honestly - if you enjoy Casio devices, this will feel very ... different. Especially in terms of build quality.
Hi Michael! You said that heart rate is off by 10 to 15 bpm during sports tracking. Does this apply to resting pulse tracking aswell?
The resting pulse is rather ok.
Let me ask you, how long is the battery life for the sleep heart rate monitor to continuously notify the message? I've only used it for 2 days, only about 50% of the battery left

Best part is I'm back to Amazfit Neo lately, best watch if it comes to smartwatches... after trying Garmin and ~$500 Casio GBD-H1000 -1A7ER I just can't find better forever smartwatch... plus many mods (cases and straps).
Mods? Are there different cases I can buy?
It looks so good, but I was quite disappointed to hear about the bad build quality and materials... I agree with the other comment that Casio should definitely do something like that. Unfortunately they seem to be not very keen to experiment and now they've discontinued the ProTrek WSD F** line-up. Which looked absolutely awesome but the price was quite high.
I hope someone does something else like that - I really think this type of screens should make a comeback but in the form of the small dots or kindle-like version. This can leave a lot of customisation options while being good for the battery and readability in sunlight. And of course the designs can be crazy and fun.
And btw, great video once again! The most popular tech youtubers seem to ignore this market of fun and cheap tech that does 95% of all things expensive stuff does, but for 30% of the cost.
I'm not talking about this watch of course, but rather about the general type of things you cover. Yours are the best videos available when it comes to this very interesting part of the market.
Thanks Ned! While there are a lot of gadgets shown that are pricey, I still try to cover mostly devices that are affordable and do exactly as you say - cover most of the features that their expensive brothers do. Some of them are great, some of them - just good, and some are rather disappointing 😎😎
Build and materials are fantastic, I have two of this
There are a couple dot matrix display smartwatches out there. But they are kinda rare. Personally I'd want them because of:
A) Battery life would likely be superior to 'normal' smartwatches
B)crisp always on display
C) Sidestepping the sometimes laggy performance of 'normal' smartwatches
D) will likely be cheaper
F) Better readability. Though YMMV on this one.
Yep these are really good watches. You can't even feel your waring it. Basic but all you need for under 40pounds

I think this always on display and long battery life watch can be a good replacement for my xiaomi mi band 3. Even though Neo is pretty old I only now notice it's existence. It is my big mistake that I missed your fascinating review Michael! Looks amazing in green color. But is it worth to buy this model or better to wait for new model?
Not sure whether Amazft will launch Neo 2. Right now I am eagerly waiting for Huawei Band 7. The Mi Band 7 also just launched globally.
@@TechMishka I bought Amazfit Neo and it looks great, but battery is terrible - watch lasts only 10 days between charges. Sleep tracking is strange - it counts as sleeping when I do not wear watch and I cannot deactivate this function. Also the distance of Bluetooth connection is very disappointing. So I would like to have a better version of Amazfit Neo.

I've ordered one, as I'm a big fan of Casio digital watches, but really don't like FULL featured smartwatches, as their battery life sucks ass.
It's certainly no replacement for my G-Shock, but for it's price it seems like an amazing product, i only wish it wasn't so tiny.
Hopefully they'll do it in a 'man size' version at some point.

Interesting watch for sure. I'd say it's a bit overpriced tho as it's literally worse in every way compared to the mi band 5. I guess the retro style could be the selling point here but I think for most people the mi band is a way better option
Yeah, you are absolutely right. It's the design that can attract customers. The Mi Band 5 is clearly in another league.
Not really worse, Mi can hold up about 10 days and it doesn't have always on display. It's a bit cheaper, but that is expected since it's not a watch, it's fitness tracker. This works just as any other digital watch. Only if it only had GPS, some smarter G-Shock watches have it but they are way more expensive.

True that. There seem to be a lot of protective tempered glass options.
I think the glass is chemically hardened so it won't scratch easily. And the glass is protected to a certain extent by the raised bezel.

The watch can relay the notifications from your smartphone - so it has to be bear the smartphone.
And there are some good practical implementations: if your phone is muted and inside the pocket, you will know someone's calling.
Some wearables with colorful display can also show the name of the caller and you have the option to mute/reject.
