- I tested out the Danby 3 in 1, the Hisense, DeLonghi, Tosot and the Midea to find out which is the best portable air conditioner.
In this video I explain why the Danby 3 in 1 in the best portable air conditioner. Well, least crappy portable air conditioner.
I'm still on the hunt for the best portable air conditioner but for now the best portable air conditioner seems to be the Danby 3 in 1. - Zábava
There's water paddles on the inside that flings condensated water onto the burning hot heatsinks.
Stronge high 12k btu should be able to make the plates hot enough to vaporize the water into steam which gwts shot outside : P
Weaker units will stall if a draining hose isnt attached. They cant vaporize the water fast enough and end being water logged which doesnt cool too good explaining why the compressor is barely functionning
Can’t wait to get the housing off this thing to see it! Thanks again!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencerI'm actually looking forward to seeing that.
Can't get enough of seeing that stuff haha.
AC's are like the wildwild west ever since cfc gases were banned haha
Just got one, installed it in my insulated garage. It works great!
Nice!
The squirrel lol
🐿️
Love the duct taped window panels. Classy!
And secure! 🤣😅
What the heck???😳 is that a black squirrel 🐿️ I’ve didn’t even know there was that color. Thank you for your advice on cooler, trying to find one for my sons room
They’re odd little critters for sure, white ones too! This one is good for bedrooms because it’s not too noisy. When I lived with roommates I had this in my bedroom and it was great. Probably too powerful for just a bedroom (cost-wise) but on low setting it was perfect. Thanks for your comment!
I grew up on the West Coast and only saw gray squirrels. When I moved to the East Coast (Maryland) I saw black ones for the first time. They’re really cute.
Black ones are rare in my area of Maryland.
Squirrel out side on the floor
I didn’t even notice! Had to watch to see it! Great eye!!!
I have the same ac for 5 year, but now it’s giving me troubles.
When I connected it ⚡️ it would start right away, but I can’t control it manually or remotely.
The only way it shuts down is when I disconnect it
Lame! No idea what could be wrong with it, hopefully you can find a place that can fix it
I’d like to hear your opinion on the Midea 12000 duo portable unit. Thx.
If you're talking about this one: www.midea.com/ca/air-conditioners/portable-air-conditioners/14000-btu-12000-btu-sacc-duo-smart-inverter-3-in-1-portable-air-conditioner-mp12svwba3rcm
it looks good. I've never tried it though. I like the quiet function and best of all the dual insulated hose. I would buy it from a place like home depot, costco or walmart though incase you dont like it and need to return it. I say that because it has some seriously mixed reviews online. Hope that helps!
and the best thing, the double hose, it makes sure hot air from outside doesnt get sucked back in
Absolutely
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I have a similar AC from some Dutch brand (arguably they all rebrand stuff, who knows which factory actually creates these)
Inventum AC127WSET (white, and set as in has the dual tube in a separate box) to be particular
but i also saw the exact same unit from Midea, and now this one
Btw, it still sucks air to the outside, even as-is, along the side and back there are vents which actually still suck air to the outside even with the dual tube
i personally just covered them with tape
Good to know!! That’s awesome you taped it, I’ll have to try that. Do you notice it works better?
Thank you i appreciate it
Thanks for your comment!
What if they pour kool aid in it? 😂
Wish I’d have thought of that for this demo!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer lol 😆
Looks exactly like my midea, rebrand?
Pretty sure you’re right. Midea bought out Danby a few years ago is what others said. Danby still operates independently for some weird reason, but owned by Midea.
Try shoving a sandwich into the unit 😂. That's something a kid might do.
Anyway, Im guessing the Danby has a dual hose?
LOL. Yes, feeding it an egg salad sandwich would have been incredible.
You're right, it does have a dial hose (2nd hose is inside the main one)
good review
Thank you!
Did your danby come with those 3 panels to fit a door?
It did, I’m not sure if they all do, some people say they only got one
Ummm you are connecting a second hose to the white one (Hisense I presume) correct? I'm assuming that's just how you have it setup for this demonstration. Otherwise you're building negative pressure and causing outside air to leak into the house warming it back up.
It depends on what model you have dude. This one only came with one hose because it’s not a dual hose system. Yes you are right, a dual hose model is superior because it draws in outside air instead of sucking inside air into the unit and exhausting it. Don’t cheap out, get a dual hose model (not shown in this demonstration).
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer That's weird. It looks like it has a second hose coupling. You sure that ring doesn't twist off? This all probably sounds condescending but I promise I'm trying not to sound that way. Although, even if it's not built with a hose coupling it looks like you could at least Jerry rig one on. I buy broken portable ACs and fix them in my spare time. If I can't fix them I melt them down. Getting less popular brands or brands outside of your country is also a no go. It's just that much harder to get parts when you need them.
I returned it. You’re absolutely right you need a dual hose. This one only came with one hose. So even if that thing twisted off, I’d have to buy another hose the right size. For the same money, I bought the Danby 3in1 dual hose. That’s the black one in the video. Dual hose all the way. Dual hose or nothing.
Expert install job too
I feel like most people buying these things are desperate and just do what they can to make it work. Being rich would be nice but did you look at the rest of my dump? The brutal ugly install is the least of my worries 😘
What are your thoughts on the popular BLACK+DECKER? It’s currently the best on Amazon. I’m just curious because it’s starting to get really hot in California and need to buy one ASAP.
It looks about the same as all the other PAC’s except it’s a lot less expensive. Probably works just as well, they all seem to function about the same. Testing more this year, they’re all pretty basic. Just wrap the hose in a blanket and get ear plugs and you’ll be cool and comfortable 🍻
Crap crap crap jhs is super good so is a artic wind I’m getting a Hisense tomorrow don’t listen to this dum ass
Hisense 10,000 btu is going for 299 right now compared to the Danby which is going for 489. Is it worth almost $200 more?
Whoa! Where!? I wanna try one of those out and that’s a smoking deal.
For $300 I’m tempted to say the Hisense…but I’ve never used one…
Costco Canada’s website. It’s like a two day sale ending today.
Thank you!!!
I have a dual hose Hisense 8,000 BTU with heat and it kicks ass! Haven't tried watering it but it cools amazingly well here in Arizona
@WilliePeck sweet! Thank you!! Ordered one ✅
Is this better the mini split ac?
Do you have a link to the mini-split? I’m not sure which one you mean, but I’d like to scope it out! Always looking for the best A/C, this one is gone so curious to find a new better one. Thanks!
Any with a drain? I dont like the sound of drain free
They still all have drains, and I’m with you man, I still check them all the time. Usually they are dry but I had one crappy model that said drain free…and the drain was gushing like crazy!
portable air conditioners are like plants you have to water them
I know you’re probably joking but just incase: don’t water them.
Like Jesus Christ I swear!.. 😎👍👍😁
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I don’t know if I sound dumb or not but is their one where I can just plug it into the wall and not need an exhaust like I just plug it into the wall like a phone and just turn it on?
Unfortunately not. The exhaust part is a total pain in the ass, but it’s a necessary evil.
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer ohh okay okay thank you so much
Was that a black squirrel? Lol
Those little buggers get into everything! Leave a garbage out there for 2 seconds and it will look like it exploded
There's a squirrel 😊😊😅😅
Made the mistake of giving it sunflower seeds now it won’t go away!
What else can you pour into it?!
Got the idea after my nephew (kid) peed in it! So I’d say absolutely anything. Maybe I’ll try pancake batter this year?
@@TheLastHonestInfluencerlmao😂😂 was wondering why in the hell you’d pour liquid into it as an example in the first place, this is awesome lolololol
Where did the water go?
Oddly enough…no where! 2 pitchers, I pulled the drain plugs and maybe 1-2 cups came out. Not sure where the other 4-6 went! She’s still running fine. Guess the auto-drain works well!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencerIt basically evaporates the water.
Not all ac will have the same method of how it moves the water around but the most common I've seen is a motorized paddle that it uses to throw the water onto the hot heatsinks of the motor which are mostly cooled by air.
The reason why you can pour water in the cold air exhaust is because the cooled metal plates are right in there and as air passes through them, they will make frost on them from the water in the air and then melt and drip down.
This water is then channeled to the back when it gets sprayed or pumped in a way so that the hot metal plates can vaporize it and vent it to the outside
@yanphuc cool! Thank you! It’s fascinating to know how it’s actually working, your comment makes me want to take off the plastic case to see this happen!
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I was scared to remove the housing at first until my brother tried on our older portable one just to find out that it's actually recommended to be done once every few years.
It's recommended to do so in order to clean out the dust which can impede on the performance.
Took me a while to understand the mechanics but it's pretty simple actually.
With weaker 6000-8000 btu units you need to have the water be drained while it's working because since the motor doesn't perform strongly enough, the hot plates won't get hot enough to basically vaporize all the water and thus they end up with an excess amount of water that end up being like a hot tub.
When its overfilled with water, only the top layer of the pooled up water can dissipate the heat and this results in a higher heat retention and lower rate of cooling for the motor.
I've only ever seen the ones that have like a water wheel with paddles that flings up the cold water that dripped off of the cool plates from the cool side.
I've heard that commercial ones have a pump that circulates water on the metal plates.
I've once seen how they cooled a freezer warehouse in india and they had an outside pool setup with paddles that flung water outside onto some very large heatsinks and it was pretty amazing to see.
One reason why its important to clean the dust inside is because your ac might perform less or start leaking water if the water spreader is clogged up from chunks of wet dust XD
I had always wondered why sometimes you'd hear water sloshing around when turning on a unit. Turns out it all makes sense now that residual water would start to move haha
@@yanphuc youre a goldmine for information and for video ideas. I have to try to remove the housing and film this thing working like that. I'm actually excited. Thank you for taking the time to explain this and share your India story (insane!!). Truly appreciate what youve added to this!!
For real effect u must hug lol
🤣 that’s a great idea, next A/C review it’s happening
What about LG 12000 btu ?
Never used one but I’m keen to review them all! Thanks for the idea. Looks pretty similar spec wise
why did you not test the Midea 12000? 450 at costo?
They didn’t have it, or at least I didn’t see it there. Just checked the website again, no midea.
I want to test them all. If one is available I would love to test!
You should test it and let me know how it goes
Black squirrels are kinda rare
😅🐿️🖤
Awesome i just got the shittty one
Damn! Well, hopefully it still works ok for you
@TheLastHonestInfluencer it actually works amazing! The heat it gives off it nothing , it's slightly warm on the outside I wouldn't even say hot .
It cooled my room from 77 to 61 in like an hour as well :) sleeping good this summer .
@@matthewjohnson4328 excellent news dude, glad to hear it. Nothing beats a cool good nights sleep in the heat of summer
Question!! I have the black one...but this unit is a nightmare to clean!! I'm afraid to take it apart. He seems to be well sealed. how to clean from within. I have seen a spray cleaner but I am afraid of damaging it. How would you recommend cleaning it inside?… it sucks!! please look at the photo.
Good to know! Had to sell mine end of last summer so I didn’t have to clean it. Looking for a replacement, I have a new white Danby 3 in 1 and it’s not nearly as good (newest model of this black one). This new white one does have massive removable plastic grilles for cleaning though…
I’m not able to see the photo
@@TheLastHonestInfluencerwhy isn't the new one as good?
@landonsage55 the new one has a cheap thin non-insulated exhaust, it’s quite a bit louder but exactly the same size. At least it was on sale for $419 (so $100 less than the old model).
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer I see, thank you. Is it still as good at self evaporating? M
Seems to be at least! Been checking the drains, haven’t had anything come out yet. That said it hasn’t been very hot here yet and so it hasn’t had to run all day and night for a week like last summer. I’ll have to pour a pitcher of water down its opening for the review again and see 🤔😉
I love it how you tested it for idiots 😂
I’m over-qualified so…😉
It look like a midea
I haven't used a portable midea yet, but that would surprise me midea is a much larger computer Danby probably copied them
@@TheLastHonestInfluencer We have the Midea it's exactly the same. Midea makes about 80% of all a/c units for different companies that just put their name on them.
I didn’t know that!!! Probably midea sells them for less even. Thank you for your comment I’m looking for a midea like this, this summer!
We have the Midea one without the heater. The only negative is the house is only 3 feet long, So we put ours on top of a box because the bottom of our bedroom window is around 4 feet and as he mentioned in the video the clips are fragile and break easily so we use duct tape that also seals it up. It is very quiet and can easily cool a large bedroom, We were using an 8000 BTU window unit before but the Midea has way more cooling power so ours turns on high but switches to low almost right away so our bedroom is actually too small for the cooling capacity. It is the best portable a/c we have ever owned.
Next time try milk
Chocolate or strawberry?
