The ongoing joke would be they are actually an over glorified pest controll start up bussi- Ohhh wait, this has been done before....
I'm doing the opposite for halloween this year. I plan on next game having the necromancer go wild with skelebones, and then for halloween night run a game where everyone plays as skeletons wreaking havoc in the town. I think it'll be awesome.

I ran a horror game 3 days ago and one character had a horse named Shia LaBeouf so when I heard "you see Shia LaBeouf" I honestly laughed. And my players act like that all the time. Ive heard them say the almost exact same things sometimes, like "but arent the plants alive?" So good job, a perfect representation of an average horror game, at least the few I've experianced.

Sometimes you gotta make your own horror. Back in the day my group ONLY played in Ravenloft except for me, so when I offered to run a game set there for halloween they were all excited. Imagine their faces when the mists covered covered them then cleared to reveal...a vibrant colored field of flowers and trees and...animated chocolate bunny's? The domain was a combination of Candyland, the Wizard of Oz and Charlie and the Chocolate factory with a little bit of Hazel and Gretel thrown in for spice. They found that the town's people had all been turned into life sized gingerbread cookies, that there was no source of non-candy food or drink at all. They fought Dire gummy bears, the lollipop guild (dwarves driven insane who used giant sharpened lollipops as axes), the tinman (an iron golem) and eventually William the Wonked the supposed master of this domain, a mad elf wizard that lived in a secluded candy castle, that unbeknownst to the players served as the prison for Hanzel the MORBIDLY obese cannibal that craved naught but human flesh.
