    Maybe this is from the POV of the guy they are excoriating in Burnout. This is my favorite song on the album. It has the driving beat of a classic rock song.

      It could also be the POV of the hater/critic from Six Feet Deep 😄
      I don't know much about the subgenres of rock (or any other genre of music, really) but I can agree this is a great song!

    I usually don't analyze lyrics in songs; it's never been a strong point in my music listing habit. I tend to treat lyrics as instruments. If the lyrics flow with the music, that's more than enough for me. This song is one of my favorites from their new album, along with HYCAD and Automatic Sun. Thanks for the reaction.

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA  Před 18 dny +2

      That's how I used to listen to music until very recently, too. Most of the time I didn't even hear what the lyrics were saying until I'd heard the song 20 times, except for songs or parts of songs where the focus was put on the lyrics such that I couldn't not hear them. Different people listen to music differently and I think that's awesome, but for myself I've found that analyzing the song helps me appreciate all the bits and bobs in it that I notice way more, resulting in a greater overall experience with the music, so I'm glad I started doing this.
      It's too early for me to call favorites from this album due to recency bias and not having listened to all songs (and of the ones I've heard only few have gone through my New and Improved™ way of listening) but if I had to call standouts HYCAD and Automatic Sun would be the two right now! Automatic Sun especially has some magic to it!

    DPA/TW says this is "A song about unhealthy coping mechanisms. Escaping into your brain to avoid reality."
    i feel that so very deeply in numerous ways... burying myself in music, digging into computer code, playing a game... yeah...

      Yesss! That's why so many of the lines hit me in the feels. This is so prevalent in this day and age, and the song is a great representation of the issue. I've seen it so many times that parts of the song were like PTSD flashbacks.

    I really like this song, it is beautiful and haunting. This song is going to be a bitch to re-create live. Thanks for your thoughtful analysis. To me, this some has a unique vibe relative to the rest of KMF.

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA  Před 18 dny

      I agree that the vibe of this song is unique compared to the rest of KMF (I haven't heard Apologize, Consume and Sharks yet, but don't expect any of those will do anything similar to Escapism). "Beautiful" and "haunting" are good words for this song!
      As for re-creating it live, I'd love to see how they go about that. I only noticed it while editing the video, but they used a fade-in effect for the vocals a few times, which is perfect atmospherically for the song, but I have no idea how they would do that live. I expect that just won't be part of the live performance. The bridge-solo-chorus at the end, however, has to be a killer live. I hope I get to hear it some day!
      I'm glad you enjoyed the video :)

      @@bsdsuPASTA In terms of live performances, this song may fall into the category of very rarely played live songs like "Revenant" from their 2022 album, Error. The band has announced that their Feb 2025 performances at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City will include live performances from the entire KMF album. There is an unspoken expectation that these two shows will be recorded.

    • @bsdsuPASTA
      @bsdsuPASTA  Před 17 dny +1

      @@bigfan007 Well, Revenant is a ballad, I would say, so it competes with songs like Black Holes, Crimson Queen, Show Me the Light, 23 and the new rendition of When I'm Alone (I might be missing some and my definition of "ballad" might be a bit broad, Breathe doesn't count because they will never play it again :( ). I recall The Warning saying they don't want to play more than one ballad per performance as it reduces the energy of the show and they usually go with the more popular ones.
      Escapism isn't a ballad, but it is the most mellow song on the KMF album so you might be on to something 😄 But even if so, they'll play it at least a few times, I'm sure. I can't imagine they just never play one of the new songs live. And if I'm wrong, well, at least there's the Feb 2025 CDMX performances, as you mentioned. I do hope they record them and release them like the Teatro Metropolitan full concert from a few years back. That video is a golden trove of The Warning content.

    It’s a very brain heavy process to interpret lyrics that are metaphor rich. But it’s win-win you can be right 2 or three times in one song. It’s an attribute The Warning excel at. It can reach more personal situations that people can connect with. Great lyrical analysis. Thank you. 🤘⚡️🤘

    • @bsdsuPASTA

      Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the analysis :)
      I agree, having lyrics that can be interpreted in many different ways is fantastic and The Warning are pretty good at doing that. Also a lot of their songs depict modern day subjects (such as Escapism here) or timeless experiences (such as AMOUR), which helps people relate. I'm biased, but they make good music 🤘⚡🤘

  • @WaldoKitty

    i tend to see the lyrics "i wish i could enjoy; worthless means of communicating; words that only destroy;" as being about social media and haters always trying to sully artists art, drive, and performances... there's a lot of that in today's society and it is especially visible in the online world... this, to me, says a lot and gives a nod to their earlier albums and tracks... especially their _"XXI Century Blood"_ album and title song... the album being about the world from their GenZ POV and things they would like to change about it... their album _"Error"_ also touches on this theme...

      That interpretation of those lyrics does make a lot of sense! And it is not surprising that TW write a number of songs about the digital world we live in. We do live in it, after all, those are the important issues in this day and age. It's contemporary art, it resonates with people and it's important to express those things. I haven't heard Consume yet, but from what I've heard about it in interviews I expect that song will touch on similar modern day themes as well, and there will likely be more on the subject in future albums. And it's all good music 🤘⚡⚠
