- 10/27/21 brief update at Blackbird Studio….introducing you Homeskoolers to sweet Todd Lombardo, acoustic player extraordinaire.
Thanks for watching the show guys.
Todd is considering starting a little CZcams channel of his own....he is open to starting a dialogue with all of you guys to answer any questions you may have about the Nashville session scene or anything else for that matter...he is a brilliant guy, one of those "deep thinker" type cats that is always up for a conversation that IMMEDIATELY gets past surface talk.....
here's a video he made tonight for you guys

Amazing player and tone! Followed!
What speaker do you have in the deluxe Tom?
Love this Tom..
Love your channel Tim!
Thank you my friend....almost had a chance to come out and see you again, but sadly the session didn't work out
This is cool
Hi Tim, thanks for the inspiration my friend!
Aren't we lucky that Tom does these? Where else do we get a glimpse into this world and these amazing cats at work?
Just for the record…there are many more guys i could have mentioned that are great nashville utility session guys…you know how it is when someone asks you whats a good restaurant and you suddenly can’t think of any…we didn’t even mention jedd hughes or danny rader…and there are many others…
Keep on Schoolin' Tom... and thanks for introducing us to these previously unknown players. Your influence is powerful and the stories are priceless! Mike Johnson on steel is another killer player and from my hometown of Montgomery, Al. You probably know him too!
These are like the guys who build the houses, buildings, roads and bridges around us- we use these things everyday, but hardly ever give a thought to those that built them. Thanks Tommy for bringing these working guys out into the light.
When Tom said “It’s a cool way to make a livin isn’t it” - the way his face changed and lit up says it all.
2:02 That strumming is a marvel to behold and Tom knew it immediately!!!
Everyone of these cats got the goods yet have as much humility as ability and undeniable respect for their craft. Tom you deserve a humanitarian award for bringing these treasures to light without asking anything in return, especially during these trying times.
All the people in these vids seem to be so humble and nice. Giving me great vibes.
Any time Tom tells someone in the studio he is filming for the homeskoolers, I feel immense pride that I am one of those homeskoolers hell ya thanks uncle Larry
Lolololol when Larry said “fuck I didn’t know that” - that’s me every time I watch one of his videos
An abundance of great musicians in Upstate NY. Like Cleveland, the weather is shitty and we were stuck inside to woodshed.
Agree 100% . Bands/musicians compete like it is a sport in Upstate too. And competition creates innovation. Econ 101
Beautiful playing. I think a lot of people have stepped back and taken a look at work during the pandemic...... And decided to do something else. Any individual who is lucky enough to do something they truly love (even though there are the inevitable ups and downs), is really blessed. Thanks Todd/Tom
Im addicted to this channel
03:44 Fascinating (and reassuring) to see a guitarist as vastly talented, experienced and able as our dear Tom STILL discovering new things about guitar playing! The learning never stops!
Holy shit that guitar is the best thing I’ve heard in a long time.
Also that guy kills it
Loving these session check-ins!
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this.
One of my fave Session Man clips in a long time! LOVE that bad-ass Bone too!
Fantastic. Thank you.
was just checking out the new video for Saturn! Always appreciate the updates.
OMG, that D-28 tho, are you kidding me, uncle Larry you dog!!! That is by far the sweetest sounding acoustic! Martins Rule!! Tommy’s Rule, you and Lombardo have the touch! Love this pod cast, cheers!
This is a great lesson on perspective in one’s life and work. Remember, you get to do this. Always be thankful! Doctor, always appreciated.
Thanks, Tom...love to see the behind the scenes. It's cool to document this stuff, you'll be glad you did one day!
Thank for the post Tom! Have a great rest of the day/week!

Thank you for always sharing Tom!! What a privilege!!
Hey..! You studio musicians are blessed.. but you deserve that blessing..you gotta pull stuff outta your soul..and temper it with all the restrictions that producers put on y’all… Just an observation…
Thanks for sharing..👍🏼❤️
Fantastic...killer advice....
So killer. Always INCREDIBLE content.
That's really cool. Lot of good insight.
Nice appearance by Paul Franklin as well!

Hey Tom - it is always a treat to see you talking to all these amazing players, and hearing a bit of what they do, and their insights - so much great talent, and knowing how to be a great player for the gig - listening is number one, being easy to work with is number one, too! I really appreciate you sharing this stuff.
Top episode uncle Larry, yer pal Todd plays your Martin like an angel.
Great show!!!!!!
It doesn’t take much time to like Todd, what sweet and talented guy.. love him already 😂 the tone he gets from that Martin, unreal.
Would love to hear more on that amp lineup decision in a future video. Thanks for all you do Uncle Larry!
The philosophy of work....take steps back and looking at what you’re doing. Extremely Well put.

Soooo interesting....thx sir....you make me better...
Fantastic episode, Tom! That Martin sounds incredible! Of course, Todd is a great player and the question and answer time with him was very engaging. Also, the gearhead in me loved seeing the combos at the end!
Fabulous content, and what beautiful people you get to play with Uncle Larry! What a gem to watch. Keep on doing what you do. I super appreciate what you bring to the musical community.
Thanks Tom. Brilliant
Awesome episode!
Freaking sweet conversation man. I picked up a couple things myself. Thanks Tom.
Watching this videos are great .. make me wish there were cell phones in the old days to capture the thoughts of some of the greats
Wow! What a tone from that guitar! And such a great player! Thanks Tom! I never get bored of your videos!
What an amazing sounding Martin and player!
Musicians are a special breed of people, thank you for showing us the human side of session life.
I feel fortunate to get an inside look . Much appreciated! "Fuck, I didn't even know that" LOL. You are a treat, Tom!
Thanks so much, Uncle L! I'll never be at this level; just too damn old, but I've loved it all my life. Your style and way of talking to people is what got me hooked on you two years ago. Your interaction with Todd here is a perfect example. Thanks for all you do!
Can't get enough of the peeks behind the curtain!! Awesome - Thanks for sharing your world with us.
Man, that Martin sounds phenomenal in that man's hands! Great find Tom, and thanks for sharing!
Yes, you are fortunate.. but you earned it with hard work and perseverance.
Thanks Tom
Amen brother!! I'm in the middle of doing just that. Realizing my perspective is all off and it's affecting everything, so I'm on a path of change. That alone has already helped immensely. Thanks for the awesome wisdom and much love!
Great work attitude! I get to go to work today not I have to work today. Very cool.
Thanks for letting us in.love u mon.
Just caught this now and liked it here on the video. Fantastic guitar and Todd is a bad dude! His touch is amazing. No squeak.
Good on you Mr. Tommy. Life is short but time is long, tell people you love them.
What a great episode uncle Larry !😄
This guy is a serious musician. Thanks for the showcase Uncle Larry. Some of the best acoustic work I’ve heard, period. His touch is part of what makes it so special. That right hand. Wow. I would definitely watch his CZcams channel for sure. I’m sure he’s got a ton of information to share.
Wow, that guitar (and the player) sounds amazing.
As great as that guitar sounds over your iPhone, I can only imagine how it sounds in person. Glad you found your passion again. Burn out is real in anything you do. Sometimes it is good to chill out and recalibrate. Then you find you’re on a whole other level.
This stuff is just the greatest thing ever!
Excellent guitar and a monster player! Capturing that tonal response with an IPhone really tells the tale! Definitely a great guitar and a great find. I love the sound of the real thing, in the right hands!!!
great! thanks Tom for introducing us to Todd!
Amazing! Love that deep voice when you talk about thoughts on work. Especially the "oh yeah" at 7:16! That's deeper than Isaac Hayes on the "Joy" record.
Tom your respect and admiration for other guitar players and there approaches is excellent. The way he talked about picking with the guitar angled up to get a different angle on the strings. Awesome 😎
Man. That Martin sounds incredible. Thx Tom for the insights .
Tom is such a great interviewer. So kind while asking real questions.
Love my old Princeton Reverbs. They are so versatile.
Doctor, thanks for the time with Todd and the quick studio tour. I'm always amazed how dead the spaces are in the studio. Also, perspective on doing/working is everything in life. No murmuring or complaining...enjoy the experience. As you both said, we get to do this. That is the perspective to have. Always appreciated!
Oh man...that guitar! When a beautiful touch meets a beautiful guitar! :))
Super cool high pro utility guy. Thanks for both for this amazing clip 😎
Tone is sending chills right up my spine. Hell, I greatly enjoy the tone of Tom's speaking voice..
Yes a sneaky peek, kid your mate has a special touch on the acoustic. Really enjoyed the chat thanks. 👍Respect and stay healthy all.
Todd is amazing, buddy. Yes to his YT channel! Thanks for sharing all you do, Tom! 🔥🎸🔥
WOW that guitar sounds good. And i'm grateful for being introduced to another 'greatest guitar player' for my 'list'. thanks!
Beautiful Martin tones, it must be stupendous to be able to make your living with your musical skills.
Tom! It’s so true that to be able to do what you love as a job is a gift. Many people go through life and never experience satisfaction and love of what they do. You sharing these glimpses into “a day in the life” is a wonderful thing for all of us and maybe even motivating for some to rethink our life’s path. Deep Thoughts by ….
