- What a special day kids….of the finest acoustic guitar players to ever breathe air joined us today…
Bryan Sutton…what a bad ass…stick around all the way through. There is some absolutely RIPPIN’ guitar playing at the end and great wisdom throughout.
Thank you Bryan
Don't think I've ever heard a player talk about being in service to the instrument and the sounds it can produce. What a beautiful and profound perspective.
What a player, it's fantastic that you leech the amazing, hard-earned wisdom out of these guys, and manage to distill it into a tasty little half-hour soda. It's a great public service for guitarists. They should take all of the home schoolins and put them in the library of congress, an amazing amount of accumulated knowledge being transfered to future generations. Good on you, uncle larry.
Thank you bro
Good Lord Larry. Pure humility, generosity, and unscripted genius with you guys. 100% genuine and Zero hubris. Thank you lads
Love Bryan's playing and his wisdom as well. Thank you Tom.
What an incredible touch he has. Every note he plays sounds like a million bucks.
This is probably my favorite episode with a guest. Brian is truly a real blessing to the ears and obviously wonderful to work with. Thanks so so much for sharing this uncle Larry.
"Did you ever go through an Ovation stage? "killed me Tom! Too funny, the comedy never stops! So wonderful to hear Bryan's wisdom about acoustics, thanks so much!
Mr. Campbell got a lot out of those round boxes...
@@mt-nv4jd Yep, imagine how he would have sounded with a vintage Martin or Gibson.
I have an Ovation - phenomenal action , wonderful resonance , just a bit heavy is all.
@@johnmac333I’ve got a couple of old Ovations and a Adamas. Absolutely love em.
Yes I heard the question, however Sutton seemed to sidestep giving a reply. A private joke among pros.
Bryan is the intersection of artist and intellectual. Could listen to him just noodle for days.
I wish Bryan would just make more CZcams videos like this himself. Sure I know he has Artist Works but these candid things are so cool. Plus those three guitars just sound KILLER!
"I tried doing that 1000 times, I can't do it".
I felt that hahaha
Woah that trem effect he did blew my mind
That 000-18 style guitar sounds amazing
Feels like stealing getting so much wisdom that took a man a lifetime of playing with and for musical giants to learn. And we get it for free. Thats the way its felt since the first home schoolin episode. Thank you Tom and Bryan for the kindness yall show total strangers. You guys are the musical giants of today.
Field trips are the best days at Skool. Show n Tell is the other best day
You are a great interviewer. Your genuine curiosity comes forth.
I ended watching this twice: Once, to listen to the Bryan’s playing… and then a second time to listen to your conversation. Every time Bryan began playing everything else became white noise! I am so grateful for how often my jaw drops, watching you all play.
Yes!!! He's the man! Two legends right there bro
Thanks Uncle Larry for being so kind to share this interview with your friend Bryan with us. Wow., what a treat.
That up close shot was awesome. The way his hand is so relaxed was an eye opener
I gotta say that it was a cleanest Acoustic guitar sound I've ever heard.
Kudos to Bryan and thank you Tom for bringing that one to us kids...
That Bryan is a beautiful cat. What a great sound he gets from those guitars. Thanks for bringing us along Buk
Two of the best! Absolutely love these videos!
Pure Gold. Thank you!
pure gold. thank you for this.
Absolutely brilliant!
Bryan Sutton always amazes me, in that he plays incredibly complex pieces, and does so without looking at his hands, without making a "guitar playing face," and in fact, with a general look of boredom. Just an incredible player with total mastery of his instrument. I could listen to him talk and play all day long... just like Uncle Larry! Thanks dear Uncle for sharing your friends and colleagues with us Homeskoolers!
I just recently saw Bryan with Bela's "Bluegrass Heart" band, and everyone on stage except Sierra Hull was like that! She brought a lot of energy and exuberance - all these players are at the top of the game but they're so good and so relaxed they almost look bored. Michael Cleveland got into it a bit too but Sierra's enthusiasm was infectious. Guys like Bela and Bryan can rip off the most brilliant, complex shit in the world and make it look so effortless, like it's just another Tuesday. LOL
I just love how he's having a typical conversation without even looking at the neck while he plays... And plays incredibly!
love everything about this!
Bryan is amazing! Thank you
you two guys are amazing...i wish this episode was much longer

Damn Brian is so inspiring. A true musical spirit. Thanks for this.
This was great. So fun. Great playing.
Man, I love "shop talk" videos by people at this level that have such a cerebral perspective of music. Sunday night Tom again mentioned that when moving chord to chord to keep one note of the original chord as you move to the next. After watching that I sat at a keyboard and picked a random note (it happened to be G) and started playing chords, keeping that constant G, and writing down what I found. And after all these years of just "playing" and many years of "book learning", I was shocked to actually list the chords and note how many had that G in it. When you figure in diminished and augmented, flatted 5th chords, 6ths, 9ths... One note is in a LOT of chords. And THAT is why I love this channel. It's not just a "listening to music" channel. It's a "thinking about music" channel. As I went through college I was taught all of this stuff, but now as an older man with a lot of playing experience since the classroom years, those same concepts mean something different and deeper. Lovin' it!
And hey, Tom, do you have a new discreet mailing address for fans to send you stuff?
Always interesting, never boring. Much respect Uncle Larry...
