- There is a 50 per cent chance Australia is going to experience a La Nina event, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
A La Nina event means the chances of rain will increase across the east, north and centre of Australia.
The event will also increase the risk of floods through the second half of the year.

Sometimes predicting 50 years ahead is easier than one year ahead. For example I don't know what you'll be doing next year, but there's a better than even chance you'll be dead in 50.

@@goodlookingman4489 That's hard to say, but we can be sure that the average global temperature over the preceding year will be higher than what it was over the last year.
@@chriswatson7965 yeah well I subscribe to the RCP 2.6 modelled scenario which would mean that in 50 years time temperature may rise by 0.8 degrees . So there is no surety that the average temperature in the year 2074 will be warmer than average temperature in 2023 as who knows what natural weather cycle will occur that far into the future ?
@@goodlookingman4489 The natural variation in global average temperatures is less than 0.8 degrees, as observed over the last 100 years, and as predicted through computer modelling. The only things that could prevent the year 50 years from now not being warmer is radical action on climate change (highly unlikely given no effective action has taken over the last 50years and none is planned), or a very large volcanic eruption in the 1-2 years preceding. I think RCP 2.6 is a pipe dream. RCP 4.5 to RCP 6 are much more likely.

Oh my God, you're going to get weather ! Scientists don't know what causes either of the Pacific oscillation or tell how bad they'll be ,but they have to make you scared so they ramp up the predictions to OMG level.

Yeah, that’s BS. We’ve had 5 warming cycles over the past 2000 years and we at the peak of the 5th now. They are well known solar and gravitational cycles. We are about to go into a cooling period. The past 2 Arctic summers have been the coldest on record. Sea ice extent this year is the highest it’s been in 12 years.
