FULL Scoring Workout | Floaters and Contested Shooting Workout

  • In this video, I take pro basketball player, Manny Payton, through a full-scoring workout with a live defender. Anytime we can use a live defender in our workouts, we will almost always take it. Here we were lucky enough to have one of my guys Joey help out and play defense on Manny.
    We started the workout with a quick floater warm-up as that is one of the major skills we are looking to improve this off-season, this took about 10 minutes to get him warmed up.
    From there we progressed into a lot of contested shooting work. We did a variety of drills associated with his shot pickups, shot pocket location, and creating space off the dribble.
    Adding a live defender allows us to work in a more game-like environment and increase our game transfer of skills.

    Love this shooting workout. Creative, nice flow that builds up and makes sense, and puts the player in game like scenarios w/o it being a game. Manny's floater is looking tough!!!
    Is Manny's breathing improving with the breathing through the nose only rule at the start of the workout? Also, w/ your 1 on 1 workouts how long do you typically go? 1 hr? 1 h 15m? 1.5 hrs?
