What do you think? Do you think you'll be able to implement some of these tips into your own project?
Yes.did you use powerpoint for your presentation?
Never. Use indesign 😊
@@DamiLeeArch why not powerpoint? Great video btw!! Thank you for the tips 💗
i love u
Dami thanks for your all explanations! it was amazing ! specially first part that we have simplify our presentations because people can follow our case study! thanks for all your videos!
Stay til the end guys - it’s worth the chuckle 🤭
I will always sacrifice my dignity for a chuckle 🤭
I'm not at the end yet, but have thoroughly enjoyed some of the bloooers... just saying, a reel may be in order in the future 😉
This channel is a hidden gem🥺 I’m watching every video and learning so much! Loving architecture. You’re so cool that I wish to have gone to school with friend/mentor like you😋
Thank you!! Hopefully I can be sort of a mentor through these videos 😁
My thesis presentation is in 5 days. And I still have a lot of work left - be it 3D or renders. But one thing this video made sure is - I am not worrying much about presentation, cause it helped me gain a different perspective on how to present before jury. Thank you much!!! Love from India
You are amazing. Your videos suddenly were in my list of possible interest. I have only been watching for about a week, but I want to keep watching more. Your videos are about so much more than just architecture. Keep making these videos. You are reaching more than just people in architecture.
There is so much wisdom in what shes saying that I’ve watched this video like 10 times in last 5 months to take more and more from it. Thank you dear.
My pleasure 😊
I am really enjoying watching your videos, Dami. You are the first person whom has actually made me really pumped about being an architecture student. I appreciate your transparency regarding the day-to-day responsibilities of architects. Other people's videos have been very negative and daunting, and I feel they are attempting to talk people out of the profession because it really is WORK. Thank you for making these videos, and I look forward to watching more from you.
Don't listen to the negativity. Remember negative experiences are always the ones that leave the review
LOVE LOVE this video, all your explanation, and your process and your thinking, EVERYTHING! thanks and congratulations for all you have achieve.
Now, that's a quality. Video full of information and examples. I'd love to see more of your previous and/or recent projects :D Watching your videos motivates me to finish my Architecture degree and reminds me why I chose this course in the first place. Well done :)
Thank you so much Thomas! I have been thinking about showing some of my projects but have been a bit stuck on how to translate it into video format, and how to show it in a way that would be interesting for people. I just figured out how to screen capture and film so hopefully I will be doing more of these presentation type videos! :)
Seeing more projects would be amazing!
Would love to detailed video on your projects! :)
I keep coming back to this video!! Love this kind of content so much, it's soo helpful~ Thank you!!!
Please make more videos like this. Your thesis process and design process!! I love your case study presentation ideas! Really helpful ! Thank you ♥️
No problem! And will do!
Thank you for your content. As a architecture student I’m grateful to see a professional provide clarity in subject that even our teachers are reluctant to give for some reason.
Sorry for my english mistakes 😬 it’s not my first language
No problem!! Yes these are some things I wish I was taught in architecture school.. Makes the process a little easier ^^
Hahah your english is totally fine
No wonder your thesis presentation gained an award. Truly and amazing sequence of presentation. Thank you for inspiring me to work even harder with my on-going bachelor's thesis.
No problem! Good luck with your thesis 😊
your way of talking is so comforting, i think you will be a great mother! also, contentwise, thank your for your input! :)
Wow I've never heard that before!! Thank you! 🥰🥰🥰
did not expect the headstand failure...
your videos kept getting recommended on my feed and this video (the headstand attempt) made me subscribe.
Hahah I knew the headstand would pay off some how. Welcome 😁
Stumbled upon this video and it help me tons, I learned a lot, hopefully I finally defend my thesis this year and will continue to watch the rest of you videos. (I`m four years behind my course)
This is the kind of teaching I wish I had in architecture school. Great techniques, it is very helpful to find inspiration
This video is litrally my serendipity! I dont know how but Im so glad this came up on my suggestion page today when I was stuck on my presentation pages
Oh sweet!! That youtube algorithm is a smart cookie 😁 I will be making more videos on presentation techniques in the next few weeks!
I really love your video. I can feel all the efforts you put in it. Keep Going!
Sending love to you💕💕
This was a great explanation of case studies. I wish I had this overview when I was in school.
Thank you Feyi!! Yeah same I wish it was a part of the curriculum. It would have saved a lot of heart aches 🥲
@@DamiLeeArch so much heart ache would have been avoided! 😣
This is such a good video, I didn't think about how take advantage of the study case, this is a really different view thank you! I hope you will do a few more videos like this
Glad you found it helpful!! I am working on a couple more regarding presentation techniques 😊
Just found your channel few months ago and it became one of my favorite archi channel in yt!❤
Awww thank you! 😊
I love your presentation style! But I have to admit, that head-stand attempt was very satisfying.
Wow, I've never thought of doing my presentations like this. Thank you.
i need this!
your awesome in your presentation methods!
no wonder you won the award. Big thanks for sharing madam!
Thank you for your invaluable knowledge and experience! I never looked at presentations this way. Hopefully i can get over my stage fright and actually make the presentation more enjoyable for myself and the audience 😅
No probs. Nobody's born a naturally fantastic presenter, it takes active practice and sometimes being OK with being humiliated 😆
Hi Dami!
You're an inspiration.
Watching this again and all I can think of is "please, make more videos for architecture students"😢😢
My school journey is depressing but I so badly want to make it through.
This is great advice! Thank you so much.
I already finished my master degree 2 years ago but damn, if only had I watched your video sooner. Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm a 45 year old architect and learned a lot!!! Thanks.
That's so great to hear 😁 Thank you for watching!
Very interesting. Having studied years ago for a Graphic Design degree I do miss the same idea of critic sessions and explaining design choices. Odd i'm not in Design now but IT Architecture but there seems to be quite a lot of concepts which would cross over around creative thinking, design decisions etc.
You are like sunshine, thank you for all the information.
Bravo...what an engaging video. Brilliant on so many levels.
Thank you so much 😊
such a great video! explained beautifully 10/10!!
Thank you so much!! Glad you liked it! ❤
Architecture school was 16 years ago for me, thanks for the memories.
Professor Dami at it again! Great video :)
Hahah call me sensei
woah you got million of subs. Last i was here was around 400k . Congratulations!
Really interesting 🙏🏿. Love your videos
Thank you so much for this! will definitely be able to implement this in my process
My pleasure 😊
Im a 14 year old girl that wants to be an architect and im already trying out things like drawing, studying like the symbols and stuff(I don't know why)😅. I am in love with architecture. Just by watching your videos gives me so much info of what can happen and the stuff I should know and also know what can happen in the future. I love watching your videos😁
thank you dami for sharing these ideas
No problem!
와.. 진짜 도움이 많이 됬습니다 감사합니다 !
아니에요~ 도움됬데니까 좋네요 😊
Great video. Very solid content quality!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it ^^
Thank you for the enjoyable and useful information
No problem, glad I could help 😊
The headstand convinced me.
Awesome tips!! While i was watching your video i was also working on my portifolio, and you gave me good insights.
And that picture of Gehry was hilarious!! hahahaha
keep your good work/videos!
Ah that's so awesome! I'm glad I could help. Hahah he should have known what he was getting himself into ^^ We need more drama queens like that in architecture
Thanks alot .....u did see case studies in a different light today. 🤔 surely the story interplay can be started different.
Thanks so much this is really great.
This video is very insightful, thank you
Yes absolutely. They are all on my list to do 😊
UNDERATED ARCHITECTURE CZcams CHANNEL!!!!
Hahah thank you! 😁
AGREEEEEE!!!
Awesome video💯 great insight for me especially I feel the same during my presentation too😓
Practice makes competence. Competence makes confidence!
I’m so glad I found your channel
like usualy, the content is very impressive
You teach so well ☺️
Love this channel! Where did you get your glasses?
thank you! I got it from bailey nelson ^^ just got a new dark brown pair from there.
You had me at "subjective." :)
it's amazing how your thesis forces you to go slow and appreciate each page. was it intentional, or did it just happen with the general mood you were in, or your personality, as you were designing it?
To be honest I am extremely addicted to your accent...😍
What are the steps you take when drafting a building. Do you sketch first, before drafting digitally in architecture school vs real life, or do you just design digitally. what materials do you consider using for your buildings and why. Also, how does it affects the environment.
Typically I always start on paper, then bring it into digital. I'm very conscious about the sustainability of materials but don't have a 'favourite' material. It depends on the project, budget, and context!
I spend My time learning and your videos are helpful thanx a lot
No problem 😊 glad to hear!!
This should be required watching for all architecture students
Great video, very nicely made and you put a nice joke at the end.
please if u havent done it yet, make a video about your ''gear''. What kind of pc u use+ other things u use. I'm looking for a new computer but i dont know which one to get and what characteristics i should look for and that are good enough to use all the heavier softwares
this is really great, im currently doing my site developments this will be helpful...And its the handstand for me lmao
I hope you will be able to use it in your presentations! Maybe the headstand will give you a few extra points ;)
This is like when you are in an interview, first you say something bad about your way of doing things, maybe you are always trying to achieve perfection and blah blah, but you highlight the solutions to that problem so that the interviewer knows you can control it. It's a cognitive bias called Anchor, it's used a lot in Sales, interviews and project presentations.
In this case, you presented some projects that already exist so that they know that your project will be viable, but then you present the best of you in the project and create a Wow environment🤩
PD: This could be confused with confirmation bias, but it’s not.
Thank you for your content ...
I really loved your video, if you don't mind can you tell me about cabinet design as I'm architecture students
Hi, could you help me with the example of the 1 or 2 story building which have placement and proximity design principle. 😭
Can you make a video on your experience in MArch, how was it different from B.Arch? Who do you suggest it for?
just started my final project :)
Nice.. Good luck 😊
Can you please share the article about the slowness of progress in architecture compared to other fields ; science and med ?
Thank you so much....
i got C in my 2nd sem due to not having precedent study. i search pic at pinteres lol. now i still struggling to find one and i am proud i have progress :)
Thank so much, i am a new your fan from Viet Nam!!!
That's really informative 👏👏
Thank you!
@@DamiLeeArch Hello mam, i have a question if we have to explain the case study only not design then we should explain the whole case study like location, climate analysis etc or only point that we suppose to explain?
@@sunnybhimani2742 it depends on your project requirements. If the project ITSELF is to present a case study and analyse a specific building, then I would include site, climate, etc because those elements will have impacted the design. However, if you're presenting the case study / precedent as a way to defend YOUR design, I would try to keep it down to the most essential information, and only show how it relates to your design.
@@DamiLeeArch ohkk thank you so much mam 👍
@@sunnybhimani2742 no problem :)
What is inference in architecture case study?
and How do we do it?
It will be so helpful if I get answer🙂
13:52 XD funny one , very interessting all your project i love it
Thank you! :)
hello my question is that I want to design a fine art college for the blind and handicapped people, and I did some case study on it & done with my program also, but I'm stuck in the concept part. plizzz guide me. i have a prefinal jury on 24
Thank you!
No problem!
I enjoyed your process we have similar beliefs Omd! I’m happy you see spaces the same way as I do I thought I was some weirdo in school!!
But everyone is a weirdo in school!
That is actually true to some extent!
I have to present tomorrow. I haven't even started on the case study.
How did it go?
@@Maya-wr9pw it went horribly haha. I had to redo and now it's passed.
Watching this while making a model. I have a critique next week.. so let's goo...
Good luck 😊
wow, what a kind of information that I really really wanted!>_<
now I have more confidence about case studying even if I'm in 4th grade ㅠ_^
That's awesome! Wow you're starting your preparations really early!!
@@DamiLeeArch thank you for saying like that (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و ♡
your videos were my motivation!
It's so easy in your region to do a case study, Imagine you got access to a ton of space. In Our region, we are not allowed to access the spaces for security reasons. So frustrating
I actually only visited one of these buildings in person. It's very common to do case studies without actually visiting the space! 😊
@@DamiLeeArch I guess u mean online case study?
Can we request if it is possible that you can show one of your presentations that you got awards on?
absolutely.
that Sam edit is pure Gold 🤣🤣😂
Can u show yr previous projects that you have done in architecture school please
11:39 Such a good idea.
i enjoy her personality....!
You are FIRE! 🔥
I’m a 2nd-year-architecture student. I wonder how you mostly focus on subjective of the case study like proportion and quality of space. I studying in my country usually seem most of my classmates done objective ways like the planing, circulation, zoning of space. What do you think of this way of studying the case study? I just wanna know how our differentiate courses are. I personally think both of them are important but the way you do is more useful to make the design out-standing! Thanks ;)
You're making a really great point! Case studies of zoning / municipal constraints are equally important and ofc are ones we do here as well. The examples I give illustrate some strategies I've found to be effective in talking about and presenting case studies, but not necessarily in picking ones to do. Maybe I should have selected a more eclectic mix of studies, but this project in particular, was an interior renovation in Venice, where the external forces weren't a huge factor. I'm sure you've seen them, but BIG has some really great examples on how to create diagrams that distill the zoning/contextual requirements. Maybe I'll do a video on that in the future :)
@@DamiLeeArch thank you I’d love to watch it💓
Without going to the other video you mentioned, it looks like you'll have to work on that headstand.
😂😂😂
SAM is a ingenious idea
I think of architects finding case studies the same way lawyers look for precedent in the cases they are defending. Same idea, different fields.
What page size do you use
Letter
The end😂😂💯
Headstand is actually the secret to a good presentation 😁
just rewatched this video because the big day is tomorrow
HOW DID U INSTALL AUTOCAD ON THE M1 ?!?!??!
what are you having trouble with? I didn't have any problems installing it on my m1
@@DamiLeeArch i did it! Haha with student licence till 2022 🙄🙄🙄 lol. I could install almost all but now having trouble with photoshop. It was so hard to install it, and i got 2018cc buuuut its only for 7 days free trial. And i don't wanna pay. So trying to get a crack or smth
oh yeahhh with cracked softwares it will be very hard to make them work on M1...!
If you study a bunch of buildings in a short amount of time you wouldn’t fully understand how the ideas of the architect are combined and give the result of the building. Borromini took 4 years to design San Carlo Alle Quattro Fontane, Rainaldi took 2 years to design Santa a Maria in Campitelli. If you take those masterpieces and study them together in a short amount of time is way less worthy than just taking and studying one of them. Why ? Because the layers of complexity and the architectural ideas behind these buildings are related to the parts and the whole and therefore in order to understand the intent of the Architect one would have to understand the series of ideas behind the building. It will take more time yes, but the richness of knowledge after studying these type of precedents is just unbelievable.
These type of analysis of precedents, if you love and have passion for architecture, will have to be undertaken during your own free time.
An easy method of wining the jury is giving them a lock of hair from their loved ones, and telling them one of their dirty secreted. This will show them how much effort and care you put into it. This is sure to win them over.
😂😂😂
