    So I got the NEEWER LL55 78" Carbon Fiber One Step Video Tripod with Dynamic Fluid Head. I never used it yet is it about the same as this or should I return it and get the Ulanzi?

    With an extra 10% off, I snagged this tripod for $450 out the door. Looks good on paper. I’ll report back once it’s shipped and delivered.

      Received the tripod today. Enjoying it so far. I have a really light set up. I have the counterbalance control on 1. Tilts and pans weren't totally smooth at first, but maybe the fluid had to be warmed up or something? Not sure how it all works, but after a few minutes, it's smooth as silk now. I like that you can widen the spreader for a more stable base of support if needed. The pins of the carry handle were slightly bent so I couldn't get it to sit flush against the tripod. I've emailed Ulanzi to see what solution they'll offer. But it's a great value tripod especially at the preorder sale price.

      For any camera rig that’s a bit bigger, it makes no sense to pick up anything else!

    Thanks for the interesting video. I think whether this is a good option depends on your use of the tripod. Sachtler and Miller tripods are really excellent, and made for daily professional use. They hold up in all conditions, and keep going after a little rinsing and drying. And they are serviceable. I have a carbon Miller Solo-Q with a Compass CX2 head for years, and besides a little paint damage it still operates like new. It was expensive, but I have been happy with the investment from day one and never looked back. Sachtler Flowtech sticks are really excellent too, but less compact for carrying and a little less solid. Personally I prefer Miller heads (CX-series) over Sachtlers (FSB-series), as they are even better balanced and smoother. I am sure the Ulanzi-set would work well stationary, or for occasional use. But I think for daily use year in year out, you're likely to be better off with one of the big brands. For stationary shots, a cheap aluminum tripod (I like the Sirui Reporter R1004) with a normal ball head does the trick too for less than half the price of the Ulanzi. And you can also put a gimbal on a normal tripod, and use that instead of a fluid head for occasional use. For this price, iFootage has some compelling options too for video tripods.

    David - Now I’m anxiously awaiting for you to show us how to attach that F50 square to this tripod to make the fluid head quick release.

    • @DavidManningvlog
      @DavidManningvlog  Před 3 měsíci +2

      I might not have gone into that well enough, but this basically has quick release in it! One latch and your rig comes right out. No buttons, no sliding, just in with a latch and out with a latch!

      @nathanealhuley1644 Před 3 měsíci

      I got that. I’m not referring to the camera rig. I’m referring to the fluid head connection to the tripod. Look at the this at the 20 second mark…. czcams.com/video/4OIu9x4aTek/video.htmlsi=LF0gYhupO5tswJps

      More expensive?? Smallrigs ad-pro8 is $799 and the legs are a bit sketchy with feet that fall off all the time and worse latches... If it's a knockoff of anything it's the manfotto fast legs

    • @Edwin--
      @Edwin-- Před 2 měsíci

      Have you considered shooting with a monopod, e.g. something similar to an iFootage Cobra with a K5S head? That is lightweight, stable, with much less setup time, and can give you great results as well. I really enjoy that setup for quick and dynamic shooting. And for static shots, you can just use a normal lightweight photo tripod. Best of both worlds.
