I carried a Tire Plug Kit in my Work Van, and now in my Truck. I had to go to a Remote Communication Site, with 120 gallons of water to clean the AC Coils. When I came back around the building, I discovered Three Flat Tires. I had no access to the enclosure and my Nextel didn’t work, even walking to the rural road. There I discovered the Roofing Nails. I managed to plug the tires well enough, with Boot Laces, Contact Cement, and an Awl, to get out of there.

A few years ago, I had an almost new tire on my Harley that got a screw in it. I used this method to repair it and rode it till I wore out the tire without a problem. It really works well, and practically no down time. This is the best plugger kit I have seen .

Bought the kit at a motorcycle convention. I always recommend it to all for cars and motorcycles. I had to plug a new tire and went on to add roughly 5000 miles to it until they needed replacing.
I NEVER leave home without it. Best money I ever spent.
Side note: might not be needed, but I also added a dab of patch glue to the stem portion for good measure.

@@ABVollen I have tyres that are 11 years old on a car that are still serviceable. I regularly inspect them for perishing and signs of splits/cracks developing and will change them out if that occurs. In UK we have annual MOT inspections where tyre tread and general condition is checked as part of the test. If they are perishing or below legal tread depth the test fails and tyres need to be changed.

Most people get the process wrong, I know I did. You have to push the plug down into the tool , not have any sticking out. and once it is in the tire, you have to take pliers and do that two inch pull on it, it wont come out, and that seats the mushroom heat against the tire. This is a great demo.

Today I spent an hour or so trying to patch my motorbike's rear tyre with a mushroom puncture kit. This was my second time doing it. Here are some findings.
The first time I did it, I wasted one plug. I didn't screw it far enough and the plug came right out when I pull that iron thingy in the last step.
This time I knew I need to screw it further down, but somehow the same thing happened. The plug came right out in the last step. On further inspection I realised that the sides of the rubber plug are also breaking off. I have had this kit for more than two years. I guess the rubber plugs have gone brittle. Another thing to keep in mind.
By now I have wasted all my plugs. I was really scared. The rear wheel had lost all the pressure and all I had was those CO2 canisters to inflate the tyre. My only option was to push the 180 kg bike to Puncture repair shop which is around 1 km away. I have done it before and it's not pleasant. A bike with deflated tire is like 2 times harder to push. Finally I found one plug that looked fine and I was able to patch the tyre. Huge relief.
So make sure your plugs are not too old. Their outer ring might break and they would come right out.

I guess you added tire patch cement under the mushroom portion of the plug, then put it in the tool before inserting it into the tire?? I'm wondering if that will jam up the tool. Also wondering about maybe adding the glue to the plug sides after you stretch and pull it out of the tire to seat it.. I just bought the kit and also a pack of single use rubber cement tubes to go along with this.. trying to figure out the best method..
