Surcingle Training for Mules and Donkeys

A short clip of surcingle training. Surcingle training teaches the mule to frame himself up, keep his head down and nose on the vertical.
In the process he learns respect for the halter.
The breast collar connects to the surcingle, the surcingle to the britchen, and the cinch prevents the surcingle from rolling. You'll see the rope halter is connected to the surcingle using bailing twine.
As the mule raises his head, pressure is applied to the nose and to relieve the pressure, the mule will lower his head, teaching him to frame himself up, respect the halter, and soften his face.
