As a long-time Andertons video viewer, I feel like every time I watch a video with Lee playing, I’m blown away more and more. His progress in improvisation over the years is absolutely wild. He does so much soulful and unique phrasing now, I love it.
Finally! Been trying to find demos and videos of the AS113 for a month! Appreciate the video!
I had a 2017 AS-93VLS, and loved the hell out of it. One of my favorite instruments, and the one that got the most praise from other guitarists.
My dear friends, German history teacher here. Prussia was the largest state within Imperial Germany, stretching from the Baltic to the Rhine. Prussian blue is a standard colour, named after the Prussian army’s uniforms (unsurprising, since Prussia was (in)famous for militarism, described as an ‘army with a state’. Prussian militarism was considered a major reason for the rise of the Nazis, and Prussia as a political entity was dissolved by the Allies after 1945. More information available on the internet, or in your local library (if it’s still there}.
Prussian militarism also saved the British from defeat at Waterloo - oh how quick we are to forget what we owe to our European allies…
Was going to comment as well, but you beat me to it. Also the Prussian king was the one elected to be the ruler in a united German state back in the second half of the 19th Century. He famously neglected the post, as he opined that a king should not be elected. In the end he budged and became the German emperor.
You did forget to mention the name of the area comes from pagan tribes inhabiting the so-called Masuria lake district in nowadays north-eastern Poland (some of the tribes also lived in today's Lithuania and Latvia). Prussians were a subject of religious crusades from both Poland, Lithuania and the Teutonic Knights, who were sent there both by the Pope to force the Christianisation further (he unlawfully gave the knights some land possessions on the Polish territory) and were invited to settle by the request from Polish/Masovian Prince Konrad III Mazowiecki, whose lands heavily suffered from Prussian rides. Teutonic Order slowly but surely started taking over the lands, developing their state structure instead of Christianizing the pagans. Poland noticed that too soon as Teutonic invasions started disturbing the peace and tried to chop off some land parts. Overall it led to the biggest medieval battle (Grunwald1410), when Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth fought back the Order, which became the Polish vassal in the aftermath. Germans were never naturally present there, they only have managed to steal the land (thanks to the intense Vatican's help!) and stay there waiting for Poland to become weaker. When it happened, they regained their control over the area and this is the Prussia you are talking about in this comment. Hence, they not only stole the land but also its name. BTW, I'm a history teacher by the trade 😉😉
That is a custom color, man made, for the uniform if I am not mistaken.
Also Lithawania ?
Nicely done. Pure Andertons' class. Entertaining and very informative.
I'll admit that I watch Lee & Pete videos even when I have not even a passing interest in the gear they're demoing. They're a great team. Anyway, these are definitely my kind of guitars and if I didn't already have a semi-hollow I like, I'd put them on the short list. Thanks!
Good morning Gents! lovely intro and gorgeous guitars. I absolutely love Ibanez Semi's. I currently have an AM153Q and a AS73. Absolutely love both and feel the need to have more in my life. hahahaha
I have a As-73. Love the build quality, and fast Ibanez neck. Swapped out the pickups for Duncans, (Jazz neck, and 59 bridge). and it sounds amazing. Loved "Genghis Benson"!
Great video guys! Merci beaucoup! I used to own an AS 73. Sunburst without pickguard and the lighting bolt on the headstock. I added a bigsby style vibrato.
Loved it except I couldn't get the G string to sound right. There was a funny buzz at the bridge and hard to intonate. She was far from perfect but had personality.
My AM77T-NBK-12-01 is close to 2 decades old. It still plays and looks like it did when new. I think back then it was about $500 cdn. Great value and quality. They are worthwhile and an absolute pleasure to play. Plus they are a super looking guitar!
Got to love the catchy names Ibanez gives its guitars
I’ve had both the AS73 and AS93FM. Great guitars!
Ibanez semi-hollow and hollow guitars hit different! I also did a video on the AS113-BS and I have to say, the quality of these instruments is up there! The AS113 and others guitars in that price range such as the GB10SE also get the so called "Artstart Fret Edge Treatment" which is a process all Japanese made Ibanez guitars go through. I think that's a really cool feature from Ibanez there, especially considering the price-range. Cheers from Austria!
Love a good ibanez hollow body... Great review guys.
Lovely instruments. 👏👏👏👏
That would be Semi Hollow - buddy :)
I LOVE my AGS 73 it has the Violin Striped Flame Maple top but is only single cut. It just has tone all over, Like a actual smile factory.
Ibanez needs some more love for the price and quality.
I did fine art in high school and had a Prussian Blue pencil. It was my favourite in the set!
Great playing here!!
pete was killing it in the intro jam, didn't expect it to end the way it did
Great review, great tones!
Great Vid, thanks guys, both guitars sound fantastic! =)
1) AS113 is spruce of JSM10
2) AMH90 is 14.5” fully hollow
That Prussian Blue Metallic is a super nice looking colour. 👌
I have an AS73T Artcore with Bigsby in transparent cherry and cream binding, from about 2008, and it is a beautifully set up player.
Beautiful Guitars always Love Your Videos. I have Never purchased a guitar or pedal that I’ve played just got My demo from You Guys. 👍👍🎶🎶🎸then Ordered them online. 👍
I have an Ibanez AS103 with the fine tuner bridge. Amazing guitar
I like the old crown top headstock on Ibanez. It's a great throwback. My ST-50 from the late 70's has the same quick change bridge also.
I have an ST50 too! This is the first time I've seen anyone mention one since I started watching CZcams a year ago. I got mine new in 1980 and absolutely love it.
Lee, your ending triple thumps were epic!!!!! i cried i laughed so hard! take that DP!!!!!!!
That sunburst is lovely.
Ibanez wasn't really on my radar but I think outside of Gibson, for this body style, these are the most interesting!
Holy 💩, Pete is impossibly good! I always look forward to the videos with his smiling Danish face on it
My girlfriend gifted me for Xmas the Ibanez AS 73 Transparent Cherry Red. Compared to my Gretsch Streamliner (that's pretty nice for the price), the Ibanez is from another planet and it's in the same price range: you can feel it just grabbin' it that's another level of handcrafting and components. I love it.
Is there going to be a AM model in different colour? Cheers for fine demo of these guitars.
I've been wanting a blue guitar!
I’ve tried the rest, these are the best
Captain you’re getting better every time!
Oh please.
I love my late ‘19 (technically ‘20?) AS73FM. It will be receiving the Pro Buckers from my 50s Epi Standard when my new pickups arrive.
AS113BS is astounding quality and value for the money. Truly the guitar for those who want but can't afford or justify the spend of an Ibanez AS2000 or Yamaha SA2200. The build quality, hardware and finish of this instrument is as good as Indonesian production gets.
hi, great video. Could you tell which amp and pedals you used? thanks and congratulations
Already have an AS73, sounds gorgeous with flatwounds but has a neck like a tree trunk.
I would say that the trapeze style bridge is a big clue as to the blue guitar being primarily hollow.
One of the nicest intros ever! Damn!
Prussia, part what is now Germany; part of what is now Poland. Prussian blue was the first manmade synthetic dye colour. It was developed by Georg Ernst Stahl and the Prussian Academy of science and was a cheap alternative to Lapis Lazuli/Egyptian blue
I come here for the jam sessions . The reviews are a nice distraction 😎
nice review..
what do you recommend..the sire h7 or the ibanez as 113 or ar 520 or as93??? i can't decide!😂🎉🎉
Linden is the name of the tree basswood comes from, so it's a fancier name for basswood. Just looked that up.
Nice Guitars 👍👍😎
You guys should have a podcast 💖
That lick from 1:11-1:20 is whew!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
wow wow wow that blue hollow one sounds unbelievable
He's normally not blue, it's just his shirt
and how dare you call him hollow
@@Johansen_271 lol
That's called the tri tone switch. The AR artist guitars that were so popular in the 70s amongst studio and pro guitarist. The AR had 2 tri tone switches so each pickup has its own. You could get lp to tele tones with one guitar in the studio.
That pale blue one is straight gorgeous, but side note, did they mention what Pete was plugged into amp wise?
I love that blue
Sweet!
Ibanez rules. Have an old prestige s series and an old single it semi hollow. Amazing bang for the buck, hard to beat the MIJ quality
I love my AS73G Rose gold color, its plays so well. Great alternative then Gibson 335s at alot less money!
The as113 is really the as153 but with spruce top. It sounds mellow but maybe not as well defined as the 153's maple top. I would run get an as153 while they are still available. Ibanez is brilliant at getting much same sound regardless of the wood they use. The super 58 pickup is rich and thick for clean.
But is 2,5 times the price. So only run when you're within the budget ;-).
Hi Kevin Ibanez As 113 BS i have good sound czcams.com/video/8RQKW9QTdCQ/video.html The top plate of spruce is not a bad choice for the overall sound...Hi Milan CZ
@@fritsvanzanten3573 No. The AS113BS (2022) supersedes the AS153AYS (deleted). Both Indonesian production. Same price point price rises notwithstanding. Only difference is the top wood & top colour {Stained Spruce vs Flamed Maple) and pickguard colour. The AS153 pickguard (same colour as the top) looks odd/awful to my eye. Same hardware spec. Spruce top in theory may be a tad more mellow. I don't have both side by side here to compare. I did have an AS93FM AYS (colour introduced 2022) here to compare. I can say without owner pride or bias, nothing at all shabby about the AS113BS. Or the AS93 for that matter. I kept the AS113BS.
Great guitars but why the 25.5" scale length? The reason i sold mine back in the day(for a profit)!
I like the sizzle of the blue one
I love how you can ask the Captain just about anything and he just knows shit! Love these legends!!
I want that blue one so bad! Eventually this year I could buy it. But I need to get a better, more up to date amp. Rather than my peavey classic 50w combo. Thinking about that 5150ll. Or something loud with a closed back cab/amp combo. Idk how this is gonna play out.
@:45 Pete is gettin' in the groove! :-D
What style of music would you call the opening jam?
That’s real smooth fellas….scattin an all Pete.
And nobody talked about the different headstock designs. 😉
(The one at the prussian blue guitar resembles more to my Artist AS 200 AV from 1980)
I used to own an 'Artist' from the later 70's, a lovely 335 type guitar, I remember it fondly
Love these , I have a George Benson Signature for those mellow moments.
... which - as a full resonance - sounds very different than these semi acoustics in the video IMHO.
@@Fastvoice Yep Sure Does
When is that 335 Style shootout coming out? It's been a month since you said it'd be out soon...
Could we have a review of the new GB10 please
What are the chords in the opening jam track?
Artstar was/is also a Tama drum range. It's cool cause both Ibanez and Tama brands are owned by Hoshino Gaki.
WHEN DO THEY COME OUT?!
Cant decide between Ibanez AS 113 or Epiphone Sheraton pro
58 years to the day that will forever be marked as music history. The Beatles arrived in New York City, February 7, 1964. Fast forward and we see the Captain & Pete demo guitars for the current generation. Thank you guys!
Boys on fire today! ❤️🤣
Ha ha I lost it when Pete made the underwear joke and Lee just kept going as if he didn’t say it ahha 😂
Lee….:: Please, please feature, the Line6 Variax once more…. 2022 needs these fabulous instruments
That Artcore sounds really good... I used to have a Artstar AS120 Korean made and I sold it, worst mistake I ever made
5:50 I'd say they firstly differ in size, like 335 vs 339.
I’ll have the blue one please!
I have the amh90 in red and I find it hard as hell to play in tune. The slightest pressure on the body or pull in the neck and it pulls way sharp. My first hollow/semi hollow so not sure if that’s just part of how these guitars are.
I've the AMH90 in black and same problem. Getting a tech to look at the nut height. Hope it sorts it. Hadn't thought is might be the next pulling it sharp though. Had trouble getting a decent action as well with the bridge which is really hard to lower.
The As73 I had, had the same problem. Too much flex in the neck, so you could easily pull it out out of tune. Otherwise it was a great guitar.
Thumb's up just for Pete mentioning that his underwear "Just locks in there" 😂🤙
Looks and sounds like my Ibanez AS 200 artist, bought in '81 for £325 at Rhodes Music. Similar spec. Sold it in 2018 for £1550.
The captain looks a bit happier than usual. Something must be good.
Linden is wood from the Lime tree
Prussia, very approx. area of old East Germany. Land of Frederick the Great, Blucher etc. Their army uniform coats used to be dark blue and there is a well-known paint colour called Prussian Blue. There you go! 😂
And Berlin was the capitol of Prussia 😁
@@rainerschmitt456 ... and it was not only East Germany in its widest version, but also the northern part of West Germany and a great portion of the later Poland.
Nice to know! I am an English learner, first time hearing the word.
Linden..Nice name for basswood..
I would certainly be considering one of these----if I hadn't just bought a Guild Starfire.
What starfire did you get? You love it?
@@nicksonthevet The Starfire 1 DC. It's the cheapest one in the range but it is superb. It's very light--less than 6 1/2 lb, and the build and finish is flawless.
@@kingstumble thanks
Lee just forgot about existence of Poland... Thank you dude...
If you are an American I wouldn't even bothered but man. I felt just like my grandad in '44
That's not hashtag, that's SHARP.
What the thing flashing numbers in the back for?
decibels meter. So you know how loud the guitar playing volume is in decibels.
Ibanez AS series are hard to beat. I have an ‘07 AS103NT that is on par with one of my custom shop other brands costing 4x as much. Actually, the fretwork is better! The Super 58s are great also. It would have been nice if Ibanez kept the fine-tuning tailpiece on the AS series though.
Linden is Limewood. Godin used it in their older Artisan models. Common tree in Canada.
Few sites call it basswood
@@romeou4965 The Basswood popped up a few years ago. We don’t use the term in Canada. At least Ontario and Quebec. Linden blossoms smell like limes hence the Limewood. Both my 1994 Acousticaster and 94 Artisan TC were referred to as Limewood. I guess we need an Arborist to clear the confusion.
Prøjserblå!
I can explain briefly explain Prussia and Prussian blue. Prussia was a powerful kingdom that had its capitol as Berlin. Berlin naturally became a center in Prussia for universities, medical centers and research. A scientist at the Prussian Academy of Sciences, Johann Leonhard Frisch, developed a blue pigment in 1708 that he initially called "Berlin Blue." By 1709 it was being marketed as Prussian Blue, since Berlin was the capitol of the Prussian kingdom. It became quite popular as a color and fun fact, Prussian Blue was extensively used in Hokusai's famous painting "The Great Wave off Kanagawa."
Suggestion for the next blindfold challenge: Put two guitars of the same model in. Let's hear, if they sound exactly the same. I doubt it.
Howya lads,I have an AS93,changed the pickups to D'marzio 59 retro Les Paul pick ups, sweet as be jesus👍,dont think I'm related to Laurance Gillespie 🤷♂️🤣🤣
Raising so much curiosity over what's inside the hollow body and then not showing it on camera deserves the capital punishment :D
Is that the new Pantheon sitting on the Fender head?
That guitar is fuggin blue
@ Lawrence Gillespie: I retired last October & ( having much more time on my hands) I'm finding I also watch the videos whatever the gear is - It's brilliant marketing & feeding the GAS due to the way Lee & Pete get such good tones out of the models they are demoing. A terrible way to separate an old man from his pension LOL !
😂"not your danish pik, but your guitar pick" never fails to make me chuckle
Bismarck and Kaiser Wilhelm would definietly not approve that explanation of Prussia xD
