      Ever hear of Lem Barney, Kenny Houston, Dave Brown, Darrell Green or Mel Blount?
      All of those guys could tackle, something Deion was weak at
      Barney was a great return man too.
      I saw them all play and Deion couldn't tackle a high school girls volleyball player.

    This shows just how fast Deion was, his able to recover sometimes after being beat and make the play. Jerry’s route running is simply beautiful. Legends both of them.

      Jerry rice was a lot slower than Deion too back then. It’s just that Jerry was ahead of his time when it came to running routes to where he could stop at a dime and cause Deion to over correct himself which creates a huge gap leaving rice open

      @@Ainsi110 LOL Jerry is the sole evolution of the concept of route-running, just get out of here. The guy basically invented the whole thing. And he played in a pretty modern offense in the early 2000s and put up 1200 yards receiving at 40 years old.
      If Rice played now, the numbers would be mind-boggling. You people out here disrespecting the GOAT when he put up insane numbers in the 80s and 90s when a good season for a QB was throwing for 3000 yards.

      Jeffrow Ryan Deion got a little too underneath Rice, he had a misstep at towards the end while timing his attempt on the ball, and he got greedy going for the catch instead of the deflection. 🤷🏿‍♂️

      Yep I was just saying that and commented before seeing this comment. Steve was late on a lot of those throws. It made me realize how much better Drew Bree’s is in comparison. Montana also had better timing with Jerry Rice. Drew Bree’s and Jerry Rice would have been a nightmare. I think Joe Montana then Bree’s for best QBs.

    This the probably the greatest on-field matchup ever. 2 of the greatest at what they do, going at each other. And the concept is so poetic too. On the offensive side, you a have Jerry who is the hardest worker ever that is very humble and on the defensive side you have Prime Time who is the most relaxed man ever that is the definition of showboating. And they ate each other alive. It is amazing to see 2 all-time greats that are the clear cut greatest players of their positions matchup in their primes.

      Yelp, like Joe Montana!!!! A lot of left hand QB’s have a delay in their passing mechanics. That’s why Steve only won 1 Super Bowl. He had plenty of chances to get two more before or after if he didn’t run so much. It led to concussions that he had no choice to retire before Rice... Hell, we won two on the bench with Montana.

      It's because Young had a weak arm and if a guy with a weak arm doesn't anticipate the throw quicker, he's going to be picked. But still, Young is one of the best Qbs ever and made the most of his physical ability.

      That happens every game to EVERY CB. There's not a CB that's ever played that had his man entirely covered the entire game. What you also weren't seeing was the coverage in front of them to make them hold on to the ball or the throw to be off.

      Well I think that’s how Deion played he would let the WR go free cuz of his speed he would out run the ball. The first play of the video Rice is open in the end zone it’s just that Deion out ran the ball and before the ball could get to rice Deion was there. Deion was the ultimate ball hawk now for best one on one coverage guy I think revis was the best at that.

    Steve Young was so behind on some of those throws when Jerry would have a step it seemed to give Deion an eternity to close the gap. If he had a QB with a cannon arm like Bret Farve he would've had 4 TD in that game.
    I think in the modern NFL that's one advantage that would benefit Jerry is the fact that now they throw to an area that they expect the receiver to be as opposed to how they did it in the 90s.

      @bruceleeroy8302 Rice had more TDs in the '86 season with Jeff Kemp #9 when Montana was hurt I believe. I'm not sure of course but it would be something to point out if Montana played more games that season than Kemp and the latter had more TDs to Rice.

    Honestly Rice caught every good throw in this video. Sanders was great but most of the incompletions and interceptions in this video weren't very good throws.

    As a young, but lifetime niner fan, I'm so mad I didnt get to grow up watching these two play. Jerry rice is my all time favorite player, deion is literally second. I grew up listening to stories and reading about them, but I could never watch them. Two of the greatest in the game. I very much doubt they will ever be surpasses as the GOATs in their respective postions. No one even comes close to either.

    To be honest it is usually the cornerback vs the receiver and quarterback. A perfectly thrown ball can't be defended and a poorly thrown ball is begging to be intercepted.

    All sanders had was "catch up speed". Rice Beat him at the line every damn time. If the ball was released fast enough It's a touch down for Rice each time. Plus they didn't show the touch down Rice had on Sanders when Montana was the QB

    Atlanta native. I haven't been a falcons fan since his departure. As a kid it really hurt me . we all high stepped towards the endzone and did his dance step by step. Greatest falcon ever!     I've been watching pro football since I was to 7 years old my 1st game was with my grandfather at Harvard Stadium in 1970 I watched the Boston Patriots lose to the Buffalo Bill's O J Simpson was a rookie who had 3 touchdowns that day never thinking he was going to wind up the way he did anyway the 2 greatest defense I've players I have seen in the last 49 years were Lawrence Taylor' and Deon Sanders those 2 were incredible players I haven't seen anybody like those 2 since

      Woodsen. Mark Haynes. Darrell Green. Lester Hayes. I would take them over Mr. PT. His years with Falcons had him facing Rice. Did ok. John Taylor ate him up. Rams Filpper Anderson and especilly Henry Ellard same. Saints Joe Horn? Sanders pulled his stupidity act letting Ellard come of line in slot. Ouick 7 yard slant had him 5 tards behind. Closed it by 3 yards but Henery pulled away. He was a long jumper from Fresno St. And ran legs on many usa 4x100 teams. Look up sports Referance. You can see game stats . Those guys all light him up for over 200 yards in games.

      I agree, some of Steve Young's throws. Anyway, I won't take that on Sanders, he was a great cornerback. He'd purposely slow down to make the receiver appear open and then just speed up and cover him like a blanket.

    WTF at the Odell comments ? Why is he even in the conversation between Rice vs Sanders ? Hell I think even Rice could lock Beckham down. Not to say Odell is trash but WR and DB are mirrors of each other and Rice has the ability to cut on a dime. Deion in his prime ( pun intended ) would have Beckham trying to fight him out of frustration. If Josh Normans skill and trash talking got under his skin can you imagine what an elite level athlete and trash talker in Deion would do ? Beckham would rather rage out and get ejected for his temper than be demoralized by Sanders.
