Thank you for the amazing animation, data and extra info, it was truly helpful as a psychology student
Great video
It’s sad to me that this explanation **(of Conversion Disorder) would fit many who are unable to find the actual cause of real illness.
Also, illness can cause both depression AND trauma. So many problems with this model.
And the gender ratio is disturbing. 😳
@@anxylumagreed...I'm wondering if women just more often get labeled with conversion disorder and assumed to be psychosomatic while men are misdiagnosed with physical diagnoses instead. Misdiagnosis for both is unfortunate but probably more so for women...
Your videos are incredibly helpful✌️I have a question about the DSM 5 TR and the possibility of files being called into a forensic setting.
can't thank you enough for this videos
How about GI related symptoms in conversion disorder? I checked the specifiers and the only GI related is "swallowing" but how about if it is nausea for example
i can't understand differences between conversion disorder and malingering
malingering is knowingly faked and conversion is not faked. Hope that helps!
Wikipedia:
Malingering: "Malingering is the fabrication, feigning, or exaggeration of physical or psychological symptoms designed to achieve a desired outcome, such as relief from duty or work."
Conversion disorder: "It (conversion disorder as a disgnosis) is sometimes applied to patients who present with neurological symptoms, such as numbness, blindness, paralysis, or fits, which are not consistent with a well-established organic cause, which cause significant distress, and can be traced back to a psychological trigger."
Important:
"Conversion disorder was retained in DSM-5, but given the subtitle functional neurological symptom disorder. The new criteria cover the same range of symptoms, but remove the requirements for a psychological stressor to be present and for feigning to be disproved."
Malingering is voluntary while conversion disorder is involuntary.
However if it projected as transgenderism then that's stunning & brave.
