I just accepted a position in a PCU and I'm excited about it! I figure as a new grad it will be a nice way to set up good habits, learn ACLS and really get the rhythms down, and segue into an ICU after a few years. I can't believe I got the job, and then this video comes out. Perfect timing. Thank you for all of your videos!

I am a 1 year old ICU nurse I went straight from school to the ICU... I felt in love with it, the more critical the more I want those patient. For me is all about the experience and knowledge you obtain as an ICU nurse. My critical thinking in only one year is above my expectations. We have an amazing team, and excellent leadership. I am blessed to work in what was once a dream. Sarah you were with me during my bachelors and I never stopped watching your videos, going back next year for my master's and I am glad you will be coming alone those 3 years. 💕💕💕

I'm in my 3rd week on a step-down unit and I couldn't imagine working anywhere else. I've been a health unit coordinator, patient care assistant and now a RN on step down!! I'd eventually like to go to the ICU, but this is a perfect segue!!

I recently accepted a position as a new grad on an ICU/trauma step-down unit at a Level 1 trauma center and I am SOOO excited! I’m scared to death (in a good kind of way) and I know it was the right decision. I want to move into an ICU role, but I didn’t want to do so right off the bat as a brand new nurse. I take my NCLEX in May and start my job in July so it’s all quickly approaching. Thank you for all your videos - they’ve been so helpful to get me through nursing school and I know they’ll help me on the NCLEX as well!

I don't know about your hospital, but in our med surg I would say 1/10 is walkie talkie. The other day I had 6 pts, 2 where COVID, one COVID was confused, a 30 year old in ETOH withdrawal who was in restraints by the end of my shift, and two fresh surgicals, one of which had high blood loss and many cardiac comorbidities, and another who had been there for a month with failure to thrive and was total care. I don't know what med surg she is describing. it sounds like our obs/extended stay unit. Maybe our hospital is just different?

  • @marvelysasosacoronado601

So I was on a "complex medical" unit and most patients were def not walkie talkies, they had tube feeds, heparin drips, wound vacs, some had tele so I guess we were a stepdown 😂 also 6-7 (or more?!) is a horrible ratio. I hope that's not true for most hospitals. If we had 6 it was a really bad day.
