Great content!!!!!!!!
Good ideas for sure!
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching.
Nice planters
Thanks for the comment Zaba
You are a brave man to plant bamboo. It is a plant that keeps on giving.
Thanks Jim - I know I have seen some bad infestations. That's why I kept it off the ground and used a rhizome barrier around the pot. Check out my video "How to not plant running bamboo" and you will know that I am aware.
Looking for ideas to plant running bamboo.. came across your video.. figured I'd help get your subscribers up.
Thanks Mark. Running bamboo is pretty easy to maintain. It wants to grow. Just water and fertilize every so often and it spreads. I’m hoping it survives my cold winter in the pots. I plan on covering with a thick layer of pine needles.
Hi Yard Buddha, how are your bamboo pots doing now? Did any unwanted runners come out?
Thanks Hilary. I am planning to show an updated video soon this spring showing how they did this winter and the new growth they put on.
@@yardbuddha OK. I will keep an eye out for it. Thanks!
If you cut or trim the leaves will the canes get large and beautiful? I’m trying that
Hi Charles - No the canes will not get larger than when they first came out even if you trim the leaves. The new canes that come up each spring should be larger in diameter than the older ones as the bamboo develops a better root system. You can prune off the leaves that die over the winter (not necessary though) and new green leaves should sprout from any healthy canes.
I live in a cold climate an the running bamboo seems to die off in the winter. Should I wrap it w burlap ?
If you can move them into a shed, garage or sheltered area away from the heavy snow and especially the cold wind it's best. I move mine into a sheltered corner of my yard, insulate them with pine needles and then wrap them in a tarp. Good luck!
We need an update on your bamboo, turn them over and see if they started to run underground, maybe the bell sound will come from you hitting with the bell. , LOL
Sorry no update video - it got down to -30 degrees here this Winter (with wind chill) and I lost my bamboo. I tried covering them with pine needles and a tarp for insulation but it didn't matter. If you keep them in a pot outside you have to adjust your plant hardiness zones down by 2. I did buy new bamboo this year and will keep them in my garage over Winter.
@@yardbuddha what state do you live in ? Curious about the zone ?
@@dougnashzI live in Spokane, WA zone 5a. I do have to bring the bamboo into my garage if it gets down below 20 just because they are in pots. Being in pots makes them at least 20 degrees colder than in the ground.
Couldn't stick it out. Too slow. Sorry.
Thanks for the comment. That's just how I roll sorry.
Turn the speed up.
Too slow
Sorry but that's just who I am. I talk slow. Walk slow. Eat slow. Try it sometime.
