I think it was jealousy in the first season…..she seemed a bit threatened by Ginny and how “popular” she became even though Ginny didn’t do anything besides move to the town.

Abby is the most realistic teenager she says stuff that makes me roll my eyes like "ann is the most basic name ever" when her name is ABBY a super popular basic name lol (btw MY name is ABBY too so I can say that but) she always says stuff that is cringy or kind of judgemental but in a way that feels very realistic to teens today.
I love Ginny and Abby's relationship. It feels more authentic than her and Max because they had to work to like each other and the time they spend with each other isn't all about drama its about being together. Abby fits in seamlessly with Ginny and Marcus and Ginny makes sure to tell her shes beautiful when shes down on herself. Even their fights feel more authentic than any with Max. Who due to her dramatic personality ( which i love) often feels overscripted and fake.
I didn’t like Abby season one but this season she’s one of my favorites. I hope we can get more of her story line in season 3. She’s a good friend! I also hope we get more Norah season 3. She’s a lead character too but we don’t know anything about her!

I’ll admit in season 1 Abby wasn’t the nicest to Ginny but thinking about it it’s understandable her parents are going through a divorce and she feels that Ginny joining the group will make her lose her friends. I’m glad Abby realized that she is still loved by her friends and she ain’t going to be replaced ❤

Rewatching this scene pack, and I agree with many here that s2 Abby and Ginny >> a good chunk of s1-s2 Max and Ginny.I thought the "you scare me" exchange between Ginny and Abby this recent season was a nice throwback to season 1, when Mama Georgia referred to Abs as "the scary redhead", despite Ginny still trying to defend/downplay Abby's actions after framing her for shoplifting and then bailing on her (accompanied by Norah), due to their own fear of Georgia. Fast forward to season 2, and she openly admits she's scared of her, yet - a second later - admits how pretty Abby is to her face. Even if the script had them write that off, I hope that's something that manifests into Abby's self-esteem in later seasons. I also liked the times that Ginny wanted to reach out to Abby and ask about her well-being, but was more hesitant to do so via text. Some people are more comfortable expressing their insecurities of life problems in person than over the phone, or not at all (because they've found an outlet to try and numb themselves from the pain). I still hope the show finds a way to allow one of -- or all - the other girls to learn about Abby's struggle with body image/ED and comforts her over it, rather than make her feel worse.
